3. Lilly

Friday afternoon I got off work early. The rest of the people are going out for some drinks tomorrow and I am looking forward to it.

I was going to leave this town and the people I've worked with for years. They are all I know.

I drove to the restaurant where I said I'd meet up with Jenna. She wasn't there yet so I went forward ordered lemonade and found a table. Half way through my drink, I saw Jenna outside.

She was getting out of a car. I could see her lean down and kiss someone in the driver's side before waving goodbye. I smiled at her. She was always the one among us to attract guys. Every guy we met was taken with her.

The only one who didn't was probably Richard. My mind went back to the first time I met him.

It was almost seven years ago. I was still in college by then.

"Come on Lilly, you got to have fun" My best friend Leah whined. "Live a little"

We were sitting at the bar of the club we went to. I never drank alcohol after I almost drank myself to death back in high school.

"You know what happened last time I drank, Leah. I'm not doing it again." I told her. "Someone needs to be sober, if we have to get home without being mugged on the way"

"Fine" she agreed ordering us another round of drinks, non-alcoholic for me, of course.

"Is this seat taken?" a silky voice asked me from my right. I turned around to see a guy, not much older than me, was standing there. His suit jacket was on his arm, his tie loosened. He looked like he had a long day at work.

"Nope" I told him and turned back to talk to Leah who was trying to get my attention. I had no time for people who came here to get laid.

"Can we dance?" she shouted. I noticed how drunk she was, but didn't comment on it. She could handle her alcohol well.

"Sure come on" I grabbed her hand and we walked towards the dance floor. After almost four songs, I dragged her back to the bar, where she ordered drinks to herself, while I settled with a glass of water.

"That was good" the guy next to me whispered, making me jump. I just raised an eye brow at him.

"Your dance; you've got moves" He winked at me. "I'm Richard. But everyone calls me Ricky"

"How is thatnever mind; I don't know what gave you the feeling that I was interested to talk to you or get to know you. But I'm not looking to have a one night stand" I told him.

"Who said anything about a one night stand?"

"Isn't it the only reason guys come to a club? To get laid?"

"Why are you here?" he questioned me. I narrowed my eyes at him.

"My best friend dragged me" I pointed my finger at Leah, who was trying to flirt with the bartender.

"Same, but my buddy left with a Barbie, and left me stranded" I smiled at him.

He was handsome, I had to agree. His blond hair was neatly gelled and pushed back. His face sported a five o' clock shadow and his lips were red and plump.

"I don't do one night stands" I told him trying to get Leah's attention so we can leave.

"Me either; I'd first take you on a date" He smiled at me.

He was charming. And his looks just pulled me in.

"As good as that sounds, I have to leave." I smile at him. "Bye Ricky"

"At least give me a name"

I took hold of Leah's arm and pulled her to stand. Luckily she didn't resist. She was probably too drunk to notice. Thank god I was here. I couldn't imagine what would happen if someone took advantage of her.

We walked a few steps away but I stopped turning back around to look at Rick.

"Lilly Adler" I told him. "Find me on Facebook"

And that's exactly what he did.

I watched as Jenna made her way towards me.

"Sorry I'm late" she told me sitting down.

"I understand why you are late" I told her gesturing to the window next to me. It showed a clear view if the front of the diner; letting Jenna know I saw her getting out of the car.

Her face slightly paled.

"You saw who I was with?" She asked me.

"Yes, though I didn't get to see his face. Why are you so scared? Are you dating someone you aren't supposed to be dating?" She was quiet staring at me. After a while she answered.

"Kind of" she whispered.

"You are a big girl now, Jenna. You can date whoever you want to" I told her. "Just be careful"

Before she could speak our waitress came to take the order. The food came a while later. The smell was delicious. It made my stomach growl in hunger. But as soon as I put it in my mouth I didn't feel like eating. Something was off.

Jenna and I talked about our days, our childhood and other stuff. It was good spending time with my sister.

"Lilly, there is something I need to tell you" She told me pushing away her empty plate.

"What is it Jenna?" her face was so pale, lacking colour. I wanted to hug my sister and tell her everything is fine; even if I don't know what was wrong.

"The guy I came here with" She told me.

"Is he hurting you?'

"God no" she said with wide eyes. "He is perfect. He treats me really good" she said dreamily.

"I'm glad you met someone who made you feel like that, Jenna. I'm happy for you"

"It's Rick" She said suddenly, making my stomach turn.

"What?" I whispered. It must be something in my food that's making me nauseous.

"It's Rick, Lilly. I'm so sorry. But I love him a lot" I couldn't hear the rest of it as I darted out from my seat, towards the bathrooms.

I barely made it inside when I puked in the bowl. I felt someone holding my hair up; I knew it was Jenna. I didn't push her away though. Not yet, anyways.

"Get away from me" I hold her, when I knew I wasn't going to puke again.

My husband? Out of all guys in the world she chose my husband.

"Lilly, I'm terribly sorry. It just happened. I didn't mean for it to happen."

"How long?" I asked her. I didn't need to know. But I just liked torturing myself.

"Three months" That was a long time to be sleeping with your sister's husband.

I was done here.

"I meant what I said before, Jenna. You are a big girl now. You can date whoever you want to"

But how different it is from the last time?
