Chapter Two: Bigfoot

*******Namjoon's POV*******

It had been days since my wolf had alerted me that our mates were close. I had searched for them everywhere. I had walked through most of the base with no luck. And Osian had been absolutely no help. He had decided that it would be fun to play a game of 'hot or cold' and the prize was my mate.

While taking a walk, my wolf had started screaming at me.

Hot! Hot! Mate! Hot! Close!

I could barely see where I was going, but I knew what I was after. My mate was out here somewhere, deep in the trees, hiding from me. I couldn't find him, even though I had been searching for him for hours. I tilted my head back and howled at the full moon above me. Isn't a full moon supposed to help you find your mate easier? Why isn't the Moon Goddess helping me? Why was this so difficult? Why hadn't he come to me when he heard me howl the first time? Why was he hiding?

I felt like I had been set up on a blind date, and he had seen me and decided he didn't like what he saw, and then left. And yet...I could still feel him out here somewhere. I knew he was here. Why was he doing this to me?

My keen wolf hearing picked up on a rustling in the bushes a little ways away from me, and I took off running after it. I heard the sound again and started digging through the bush, the limbs scraping up my hands, one cut on my finger started bleeding, but I didn't care. I needed to find my mate.

I soon realized that the sound hadn't come from my mate, though, as I found a rabbit cowering in the middle of the bush. I quickly pulled back and stomped my foot in anger.

Fuck!

Why was my mate doing this to me?!

I heard another sound and took off after it. I paused after a minute so that I could listen more carefully to try to pinpoint where the sound was coming from.

I saw movement in front of me as something ran through the trees. I barely caught a glimpse of it because it was fast, faster than I am. But I could see that it was tall and hairy. That was all that I had time to register, though. Was this my mate? I couldn't take the chance that it wasn't, and I took off after it.

I saw it ahead of me, but couldn't really get a good idea of who it was, because it was moving so much. It zig-zagged through the trees like a racecar trying to warm up its tires before a green flag. It jumped over a pile of fallen trees like it was nothing. I couldn't jump that high, and I had to carefully climb over them. By the time I hit the ground on the other side, it was gone.

I stopped again to listen, and took off again, after I heard the sound of a branch snapping.

I howled again as I ran, hoping this would make it stop. It didn't. My mate just kept running away from me.

Why?

Was there something wrong with me?

I know that I'm not Worldwide Handsome like Jin-Hyung, but I didn't think that I was so unfortunate to look at, that it would make my own mate run from me.

I started to hear the sound of water trickling over rocks, and I slowed down a little as a small stream came into view.

There, crouched down, scooping up water with hairy hands, was what I had been chasing .

My mate.

I took a few deep breaths to steady myself before speaking.

"Mate," I said out loud to the person crouching down.

My mate slowly stood up, then turned to face me.

At first sight, I was startled. My mate's body was big, bulky, and completely covered with hair.

Then...A thought registered in my brain.

My mate was Bigfoot.

Sasquatch.

The mythical being that is searched for all over the globe.

As this thought crossed my mind, my mate lunged at me.

That's all that I remember before everything went black.

*************************

"You can't be serious," Jimin said. I watched as he bent his head down a little, laughing at me. "You know that's not true. It was just a dream."

I was on a video call with both Jimin and Yoongi. It was 3am and I had just woken up from the weirdest dream. I needed somebody to talk to, so I called them both. Yoongi always gave the best advice, and Jimin is the most supportive person that I know.

At least...he usually is. When he's not laughing at me.

"Namjoon-ah, come on," Yoongi said. His eyes were drooping and he had just finished yawning before he talked. "You woke me up, at three in the morning, for this shit?"

"You guys don't get it," I told them with a frown. "It was so real. I still feel like it was real."

"So you honestly think that your mate is Bigfoot?" Yoongi asked me.

"I don't know. I haven't had any luck in locating my mate so far," I said with a shrug. "Might as well be Bigfoot."

"Joon-Hyung, I'm sorry," Jimin said sheepishly. "I didn't mean to laugh at you. This is just...weird, don't you think?"

"Of course I think it's weird!" I practically yelled at them. "Why do you think that I called the two of you in the middle of the night?!"

"Okay, okay," Yoongi said, holding both of his hands up. "Calm down. Listen to reason for a moment, would you?"

I took a deep breath and nodded my head so that he knew I would listen to him.

"Bigfoot doesn't exist," He told me as he rubbed his eyes with both hands. "You know this. There's no such thing as Sasquatch. You're the smartest person that I know, Namjoon, and somewhere in that big 148 IQ brain of yours, I know that you know this."

I sighed and nodded my head again. "I do."

"So then somewhere in your head, you know that your mate isn't Big Foot, right?" he asked me.

I nodded again. "I do."

"The dream was just your brain's reaction to knowing that your mate is close, but not being able to find them."

"I...I guess that does make some sense," I admitted.

"More sense than your mate actually being Bigfoot?" Jimin asked me.

I lifted my head to glare at him, but I knew Jimin. I could tell by the look on his face that he wasn't teasing me, just trying to help me understand.

"Yes. It makes more sense than my mate actually being Bigfoot," I admitted.

"You'll find your mate soon, Hyung," Jimin said, trying to comfort me. "I know you will. And even if your mate was Bigfoot, why would they run from you? Who wouldn't want to be the mate of Kim Namjoon?"

I smiled for the first time since calling them. This was why I had called Jimin, too, not just Yoongi. This was why everybody called Jimin when something was wrong. Our Jimin was such a comfort.

Yoongi yawned again.

"So does that mean that I can go back to sleep? Or are we going on a Bigfoot hunt?" he asked me. "Because if you need us to, you know that we'll come and help you look for a giant, hairy, mythical being, even if we don't think it's real."

I couldn't help but laugh. How I ever got through life before meeting the other members, I have no idea. Not being around them for this long is like walking through life with six parts of myself missing.

"Go back to sleep, Hyung," I told him. "And thank you both."

"Keep us posted on your search, will you?" Jimin asked.

"I will. Goodnight."

A/N: Maybe I should have written this story as his mate actually being Bigfoot. That would have been hilarious. Don't forget to leave me comments and tell me what you think. -------Kat
