Chapter 5
Arcadia closed her bedroom door and locked it before jumping onto her bed and just looking around. Her room walls were a pale yellow color. There was a chair in the corner and a door leading to the bathroom. It seemed that every room had a bathroom, but it seemed that the bathrooms were shared with the room next door. So Eclipse and Arcadia were sharing a bathroom.
"Yo, can I come in?" It was Eclipse talking from the bathroom.
"Sure?" Arcadia responded simply. Eclipse opened the door up and walked in.
"After unpacking, what do you want to do?"
"Hmm... I'm not sure, do you have an idea?"
"Let's go to the ocean, it's nice out."
"Isn't it lunchtime?" Arcadia pulled out her phone and it was about to be 1 pm.
"Yeah, but the ocean."
"I would like to eat. I was lied to. I was told we'd eat on the way but we didn't. So I'm hungry. Aren't you?"
"I guess, but afterward, let's get to the beach."
"You seem awfully excited for the beach." Arcadia was suddenly suspicious of her sister. "But whatever, I'll get ready for the beach then and we can eat before we go."
"Cool." With that, Eclipse headed to her bedroom. This left Arcadia all alone to stare at her bags. She sighed to herself and then began to unpack. During unpacking, she gathered her beach supplies and once she was fully unpacked, she went to the bathroom to get ready. She got ready and then was surprised by her sister opening up the bathroom door suddenly. "Oh shit, my bad." Eclipse chuckled as she and Arcadia nearly collided with each other.
"I was just about to summon you. You ready?"
"Nah, I have to change, then I'll be ready. By the way, you look nice, but your tattoo, also..." Eclipse looked Arcadia over and sighed. Arcadia was wearing a pair of swimsuit bottoms with a pair of blue jean shorts over them. She had a tank top crop top style swimsuit top to match the bottoms, which were cerulean blue with little black butterflies on them. "You're a little revealing, aren't you?"
"I'm wearing a cover-up jacket type thingy over it." Arcadia walked into her room and pulled it off of the bed. The cover-up was long and black and could button up if Arcadia chose to. It was also three-quarter sleeved, but it didn't cover her tattoo. "I'll just show my tattoo carefully."
"Alright..."
"What are you wearing to the beach?" Arcadia asked, which prompted Eclipse to lift up her outfit. It was a one-piece black swimsuit with lace covering the chest and the back. She had a long black lacy button-up cover-up to go with it, along with a skirt with tassels at the sides of the hips and silver beads. "Ah, cool."
"I'll get ready and I'll be down. Just start eating without me."
"Alright." With that Arcadia slipped on her cover-up and headed into the hallway. She nearly collided with Ten though, causing her to stop quickly. "Oh, hello."
"I see you had the same idea? Getting into the water already." Ten chuckled as he looked at Arcadia's new outfit.
"Yup. My sister and I are going to the beach after we get some lunch."
"Same here. Let's hang out together?" This is when Arcadia noticed that Ten was wearing black swim trunks and a black t-shirt.
"Sure!" Arcadia and Ten then headed downstairs together and went into the kitchen, where Baekhyun was recording himself talk about their trip so far. So Ten and Arcadia paused and allowed him to finish up and end his recording session.
"Hey, heading to the beach?" Baekhyun questioned after spotting the two of them.
"Yup, after lunch though," Arcadia responded simply as she headed to the cupboards to see what was in there.
"There's plenty of food. Also, they want us to do some recording right now to update everyone on our trip so far."
"Alright, do we share a camera?" Ten asked as he opened up the refrigerator.
"We all get our own camera actually," Baekhyun stated before continuing. "Just go to a staff member and they'll give you a camera. We're supposed to keep it with us the whole time and record randomly throughout the days." With that, Baekhyun gathered up his camera and headed out of the kitchen.
"Great..." Arcadia muttered as she allowed one of the cupboard doors to slam shut.
"Problem?" Ten asked as he pulled out a cold water bottle to drink.
"I don't like being recorded. I know, it's weird to be an idol and not like it but still." Arcadia leaned against the counter and sighed. "I guess it's all part of this job though. I should really get over my shyness."
"It's alright to not feel comfortable with everything." To Ten's words, Arcadia nodded her head and gathered up some food just as Eclipse walked into the kitchen.
"Have you eaten?" Eclipse asked her sister, who just shook her head, no, in response. "Good. I'll make us something."
"Ten is going to join us, so make him something too?" Arcadia suggested simply.
"Sure, no problem." Eclipse smiled at Ten, who thanked her in return. Eclipse then got to work and began making some food for the three of them. While Eclipse did that, Ten explained the camera situation while Arcadia went off in search of three cameras. One for Ten, herself, and then Eclipse. As Arcadia gathered the cameras from the staff member, she noticed that Taeyong was getting his own camera as well. However, that wasn't what Arcadia noticed first about him. Taeyong was wearing a black t-shirt and black and yellow swim trunks.
"You going to the beach or the pool?" Arcadia asked Taeyong as she approached him. He seemed a bit startled but recovered quickly.
"I am heading to the pool. You going to the pool too?" Taeyong questioned in return.
"Nope. Eclipse, Ten, and I are going to the beach for a bit after we get some lunch."
"Ah, well maybe I'll join you if that's alright? I didn't realize anyone was going to the beach and I didn't really want to go alone."
"Oh, sure, that's fine. We're just going to eat first before we go since we didn't eat anything at all today so far." Arcadia explained to Taeyong simply as he nodded his head. "Do you want to eat with us?"
"I can wait. I already ate a snack so I'm fine. Thank you though."
"Of course." Arcadia gave Taeyong a smile and he returned it.
"Food is done, Arcadia! Come get some before it gets cold!" Eclipse called out from the kitchen where she and Ten were waiting.
"You go eat, I'll just record my explanation of how things have gone so far," Taeyong spoke when Arcadia seemed hesitant on what to do.
"Alright, we'll be in the kitchen. I feel like you'll get done quicker than we will." Taeyong just nodded his head to Arcadia's words. Arcadia then headed to the kitchen while Taeyong remained in the living room to quickly film himself for a bit. "So, Taeyong is going to join us in going to the beach."
"Oh, cool. I wonder if I should ask if Taemin wants to join us as well..." Eclipse finished by mumbling to herself.
"I was actually just about to ask if I could join you." Eclipse nearly jumped out of her seat when Taemin spoke up from the doorway to the kitchen. He was wearing a blue t-shirt with black and blue swim trunks. "Oh, sorry!" Taemin apologized when he realized he'd startled Eclipse and Arcadia. Ten had been able to see Taemin walk into the room, but the sisters didn't notice him.
"It's alright, and yeah, you can join us. It'll be more fun with more people." Arcadia responded for her sister as Eclipse tried to calm her heart.
"Alright, thank you. I'll wait in the living room." With that, Taemin headed to the living room, leaving the sisters and Ten alone in the room together.
"You jumpy when it comes to him?" Ten asked Eclipse with a smile on his face.
"A little bit. I just didn't expect him to be there suddenly." Eclipse responded honestly.
"You usually aren't very jumpy, so it was weird to see that just now," Arcadia told her sister before she began to eat.
"It's so weird. I'm not usually like this. I don't usually feel like this..."
"You're in love, truly in love, with your true love. It's going to be weird." Arcadia patted her sister's back and then went back to eating. With that, Ten and Eclipse began to eat as well. With every bite, Arcadia began to feel sicker and sicker. She finally paused, nearly done eating, and took a drink of her water.
"Are you alright?" Ten questioned, turning to look at the frozen woman. "Arcadia?"
"Huh? Oh, yeah I'm fine."
"You don't seem fine. Do you feel alright?" Eclipse asked as she paused in her eating as well.
"I just realized I forgot my sunscreen in my room, I'll be right back." With that, Arcadia got up from her seat and headed through the living room and back upstairs to her room, ignoring the concerned calls of Eclipse. Arcadia made it to her room and grabbed the sunscreen that she'd actually honestly forgotten. She then sat down on her bed. "What is wrong with me?" Arcadia mumbled to herself as she reflected on how she was suddenly feeling.
Arcadia realized that it was the mention of true love that upset her. She had spent her whole life searching for true love, only to fail over and over again, which led to her decision that she didn't want a relationship anymore. However, that's what she told her sister and friends. She honestly wanted someone to be with, so she was having a hard time seeing her sister find and be with her someone. She didn't feel jealous towards it, she felt saddened. She wanted that too.
"Arc? You good?" It was Nova who was knocking at her door suddenly.
"Yeah?" Arcadia responded, even though it came out as a question.
"You sure? I saw the look on your face when you came up the stairs. You don't look good. Are you feeling sick?" Nova slowly opened the door to see Arcadia just seated on her bed holding sunscreen.
"Having human feelings sucks..." Arcadia muttered as Nova approached her.
"You need to talk to me, Arc. You're worrying me."
"I'm sure it's just a mood swing or something. I'll get over it. I'm sure the others are waiting for me to come back." Arcadia stood up and walked past Nova before heading downstairs.
"Arc! Please, talk to someone. Don't hold in your emotions anymore. You'll burst." Nova called out after Arcadia, but the redhead didn't bother responding as she was met with Eclipse once she made it down the stairs.
"You good?" Eclipse questioned as she saw the look on Arcadia's face. Arcadia instantly wiped the upset look off her face and put a neutral one on.
"Yup. Sorry, I had trouble finding it." Arcadia smiled as she held up the sunscreen.
"Can I use some? I don't think I brought any."
"Sure. No problem." Arcadia and Eclipse then made their way to the three guys seated at the other side of the living room. Taemin, Ten and Taeyong were all putting their own sunscreen on as they waited for the girls. So, Arcadia and Eclipse helped each other put sunscreen on, and then the five of them headed out to the beach. They all wore sandals and carried beach supplies with them.
Their beach supplies consisted of some towels, extra sunscreen, some drinks, a few bodyboards, and for Arcadia, a pair of goggles. She didn't want to lose her contacts when getting hit by a wave, plus she wanted to go underwater.
At the beach, there were already beach umbrellas set up with some mats laid down underneath them. So, the group set their stuff under an umbrella and then headed to the water.
"The sun feels amazing," Arcadia muttered to herself as she kicked off her shoes near the mat and hurried after her sister with a bodyboard and her goggles. Eclipse carried her own board too and made sure her shoes were safe before heading into the water. She kept her cover-up on while Arcadia threw hers next to her shoes.
"I hope the ocean doesn't steal my sunglasses this time." Eclipse said to her sister as they entered the water.
"Did you bring extras?"
"Yes, just in case."
"Have you lost your sunglasses to the ocean before?" Taemin questioned as he followed after Eclipse and Arcadia. Behind him was Ten with an actual surfboard that he'd had brought without Arcadia noticing and then Taeyong with a bodyboard as well. Taemin was the only one just going in with himself and nothing else.
"Yes, and she was furious about it," Arcadia responded as she carefully put on her goggles.
"Let's try to not die here. I don't need to drown again like before." Eclipse mumbled annoyed as she stopped walking. She was far enough out that she could just barely touch the ground.
"Too far! Too far!" Arcadia cried out as she stood next to Eclipse, but realized she couldn't touch. That one inch between their heights made a difference. Arcadia was only 5'2", while Eclipse was one inch taller, which mattered hugely in this case. Arcadia hurried up and moved backward but avoided colliding with Taemin who was right there behind Eclipse. "I'm too short for this shit," Arcadia grumbled to herself.
"Oh calm down, just float on your board," Eclipse muttered as she reached out and grabbed the tether line from Arcadia's board, connected it to her tether line. "Let's do this so we don't get separated.
"You die, I die, type shit, right?" Arcadia joked with her sister, causing Eclipse to nod her head and laugh as well.
"How about no one dies?" Taemin suggested from his spot next to Eclipse.
"I agree with Taemin. No deaths please." Taeyong spoke up as he made his way up next to Arcadia.
"Fine." Arcadia pretended to pout, causing Eclipse to playfully smack her arm.
"Let's let the waves take us, but not too far." Eclipse suggested to the group.
"Let's all try to stick together too. No one left behind." Arcadia looked to the guys around them just to make sure Taemin and Taeyong nodded their heads.
The four of them then began to let the waves take them up and then down over and over again as Ten went further out to try to surf. They all laughed and laughed and then panicked when a larger wave came in and nearly separated the four of them. That resulted in Taeyong attaching his tether line to Arcadia and Eclipse's just to be safe. Taemin felt left out, so he and Eclipse decided to share her board.
They ended up watching Ten surf a bit before everyone realized how hot and red they'd gotten while messing around. Realizing that they needed a break from the sun, all five of them headed back to their mat and umbrella.
"Well, that was more fun than I thought until I thought I was going to die!" Arcadia laughed as she sat down first next to her shoes. Eclipse sat across from Arcadia while Taemin sat next to Eclipse. Ten then sat on one side of Arcadia while Taeyong sat on the other.
"I thought we were going to lose you there for a moment," Taemin spoke to Arcadia with honest worry in his voice. With Arcadia being the shortest, there were moments when her board was all she had kept her floating since the waves would take them higher than she could reach. At the largest wave, Arcadia nearly slipped off her board.
"Yeah, um, maybe let's not go that far out again next time. I don't wish to die here. Though it is beautiful. I have other plans for my death area."
"No!" Eclipse responded, smacking Arcadia's leg.
"Ow!" Arcadia grumbled as she rubbed the reddening mark on her leg.
"Don't talk like you're planning your death." Eclipse said to her sister harshly.
"I mean I am, but okay."
"What do you mean by that?" Ten questioned the redhead, concerned and confused about what she meant.
"It isn't like I'm going to end myself, but if I ever have to die a certain way, I have a few ideas on where I'd like to be when I die."
"That's concerning," Taemin admitted to Arcadia.
"It is. I mean, I spent so many years wanting to die and wanting to end my life, that it's just weird to not think that way now." Arcadia responded to Taemin, who frowned in response. Arcadia just shrugged her shoulders and reached for a bottle of water. "We should probably re-apply sunscreen if we're going back in," Arcadia spoke, breaking the momentary silence that had fallen onto the group.
"Yeah, I'm afraid I'll burn. The sun is hot." Ten spoke up even though he honestly wanted more answers to Arcadia's worrisome admission. Arcadia got up and grabbed her sunscreen before sitting back down again. They then passed the sunscreen around after applying it to themselves. Taemin helped Eclipse apply some to her back and then handed it back to Arcadia.
"I think I'll stay here and rest up for a bit, I need to cool off more," Eclipse spoke to the group, with Taemin then speaking up.
"I'll stay with you," Taemin told Eclipse which caused her to nod her head.
"Ready to get back into the water?" Arcadia asked the two men next to her.
"Sure." Ten responded, with Taeyong just nodding his head in agreement.
"Hey, if she drowns, I'm going to hurt both of you," Eclipse spoke to Ten and Taeyong threateningly. Both men paused as they were getting up to look at each other and then back to Eclipse.
"Um, ignore her. We'll all be fine." Arcadia said to the two guys as she stood up and grabbed her bodyboard.
"Right. They'll be alright." Taemin spoke as he looked worriedly at Eclipse. Eclipse said nothing but just watched as Taeyong and Ten both grabbed the other two bodyboards and followed after Arcadia.
"If I wasn't so scared, I'd say let's go in further." Arcadia laughed to Taeyong and Ten.
"I don't think that's a good idea anyway." Ten spoke to the redhead simply.
"Yeah, I know. If we went in too far, I'd probably drown and someone would have to save me. That is something that I don't want to happen."
"Don't want what to happen? Being saved, or drowning?" Ten asked a little concerned.
"Well, drowning of course. I don't wish to drown."
"I don't know if anyone wants to drown." Taeyong mentioned as the three of them began to head into the water.
"That's a good point," Arcadia responded as she laughed. She was laughing until a particularly strong wave nearly knocked her over, prompting Ten and Taeyong to both reach out for her. "I'm good... I think..." She mumbled as she righted herself and steadied herself once again.
"Are you alright?" Taeyong was clearly concerned about the shorter woman.
"I think I almost got swept away, to be honest."
"Well, let's not do that." Ten responded to Arcadia with a gentle smile.
"Yeah, no. I do not want to get swept off to sea and eaten by a shark or something."
So, with that, Arcadia, Ten, and Taeyong went a bit further into the water and started to go along with the waves while chatting with each other. Meanwhile, Taemin and Eclipse were sitting in silence as they watched the three in the ocean.
"Did you see that, she almost was killed!" Eclipse broke the silence with an angry mutter.
"She was alright in the end. They won't let anything happen to her." Taemin responded, as he fully believed in his friends.
"I know, but still. It's different when I'm not out there with her."
"So you two could die together?"
"Well, yes but no. More so we can save each other and live together." Eclipse looked away from Arcadia to Taemin. He was already looking at her which caused her to instantly look away from him.
"Are you nervous around me?"
"Yes, but no."
"Explain?"
"I am nervous because I'm not sure how to react to you just yet, but I'm not nervous because it feels like I've known you forever already."
"Well... We have known each other for a long time, meaning our past lives together." Taemin finally brought up something that neither of them talked about too much. They mentioned it to each other in their first official get-together, but never again.
"That's true, but in this life, we haven't known each other for very long, so it's still a little odd for me. Is it not odd for you?"
"It is a little bit, but it also feels right to be by your side." Taemin's words caused Eclipse to blush and tear up a bit. She instantly reached out and grabbed his hands with hers.
"I feel the same way," Eclipse responded as she tried to not outwardly cry due to his words.
"I'm glad." Taemin and Eclipse smiled at each other, only to then be interrupted.
"Are you two going to kiss or not?" Both Eclipse and Taemin turned to see Arcadia standing there, looking annoyed.
"Um, no?" Eclipse responded hesitantly.
"Okay, good."
"Why aren't you with Taeyong and Ten?"
"I got tired of swimming. They both have more energy than I do." Arcadia walked over to where she sat originally and grabbed her towel that she'd brought before walking a little ways away to lay the towel down. Arcadia then laid down on the towel without touching the sand the best she could.
"You're going to burn," Eclipse called out to her sister.
"Nah, I'll make sure I'm not out here for too long," Arcadia responded as she closed her eyes and laid flat on her back. After a little bit, Arcadia turned over carefully and laid on her stomach.
"What is your sister doing?" Taemin questioned Eclipse, who chuckled in return.
"She's getting both sides of her body exposed to the sun," Eclipse responded simply.
"Ah..." Taemin and Eclipse then watched as Arcadia laid there for another few minutes before getting up.
"Okay, now I'm too hot. I'm dying..." Arcadia trudged back to the umbrella with her sandy towel and laid down under it.
"You good?" Eclipse asked as she moved to get Arcadia her drink.
"Yeah?" Arcadia responded as more of a question than anything else. She then took the drink from Eclipse and drank some. "I forgot how I can't handle too much sun." Arcadia sat up and showed Taemin and Eclipse her arms. There were little red bumps appearing on Arcadia's arms.
"What is happening?" Taemin was thoroughly confused.
"I'm allergic to the sun. I guess that's the easiest way of explaining that."
"How do you get them to go away?"
"The cold. So I'm going to head back to the house. I think I've experienced enough sun for today." Arcadia slowly stood up and gathered her towel, shoes, and drink before heading back to the beach house. Once Arcadia was there, she shook off her towel and got into the outdoor shower. After rinsing off herself and her shoes, she got out and dried off a bit before heading back into the house.
"Did you have fun?" Arcadia jolted as Kai asked her the question. He and Lucas were watching TV in the living room.
"Yes, until this." Arcadia showed them her red and bumpy arms.
"Whoa, what is that about?" Lucas asked as he was a little horrified.
"Me and the sun don't get along." With that, Arcadia headed to her room. She then went into the shared bathroom with Eclipse and locked both doors. It was shower time for her, so that's what she did. She and Eclipse had already put their shower supplies in the shower, so Arcadia just turned the shower on and went through her process of showering. Once she was done she dried off with one of the light blue towels and unlocked both doors before heading into her own room. "What shall I wear now..."
Arcadia went through the clothes she'd brought and decided on a pair of blue jeans with a darker blue tank top. She then put her slightly wet shoes back on and headed out of her room.
"Where did I put that camera?" Arcadia muttered to herself as she walked down the stairs. She passed Kai and Lucas as she searched for that camera that she'd been given. She then entered the kitchen only to see that there were the three cameras for herself, Eclipse, and Ten sitting there on the table. "Whoops..." Arcadia chuckled to herself as she grabbed the camera for herself and headed back to her room.
Once in her room, Arcadia sat on her bed and got ready to explain to the camera everything that she's done so far during the trip. Arcadia got all cuddled up to Steve and then turned the camera on.
