Chapter 39
After arriving in the kitchen, Taeyong had Arcadia sit down to watch him cook. He wouldn't let her help him, so she just watched in awe of him and his skills. While he was cooking, Arcadia realized that the rest of the dorm seemed quiet.
"Where's everyone else?" The woman asked her lover as she looked around for anyone else.
"Mark and Johnny are covering for me today. They told our managers that I don't feel well and had to stay home today and sleep." Taeyong replied with a smile on his face. "I probably owe them now."
"That's nice of them to do and hopefully they don't make you do anything too crazy to repay them. I probably owe them too. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have been here and we wouldn't have gotten back to normal." Arcadia then thought for a moment and frowned. "Speaking of normal, I need to make a mental note to apologize to Ten for being so distant with him."
Arcadia then went to play with her cell phone for a bit while Taeyong finished up the food. Once the food was done, the two of them started to eat. It didn't take them too long since both of them were hungry.
"So, what should we do now? We have the day to ourselves." Arcadia spoke to Taeyong as they cleaned up their mess.
"You should text Eclipse and let her know that you're alright. After that, we'll just hang out... Oh! Let's play some video games, alright?" Taeyong was excited at the thought of playing something with Arcadia. They hadn't done too much of just having fun in a long time, so he was thrilled to get the chance now.
"Alright. I'll send her a text now, then I'll kick your ass in games!" Arcadia and Taeyong laughed at her words as she pulled her phone back out. She informed Eclipse that she'd be with Taeyong the rest of the day and that they were back together.
Eclipse instantly replied to her sister's text. She stated that she was happy for her, as long as this was what she really wanted. Arcadia was a little annoyed with her sister's response, so she put her phone away to ignore it. Taeyong then led Arcadia back to his room.
The couple played video games for hours. They played racing games, fighting games, and just random games too. All the while of playing games, they laughed, joked around, and just overall enjoyed each other's company. They teased each other and laughed at each other's failures too. Eventually, they landed on a racing game again. Taeyong had noticed that it had been a favorite of Arcadia, so he wanted to play that game last.
"Hey, I have an idea to make this more intense." Taeyong suddenly spoke up as he turned to look at Arcadia next to him.
"Oh? What would that be?" Arcadia replied with a smirk on her face, already ready for any challenge Taeyong was coming up with.
"We'll play one more round. Whoever wins gets to make the loser do any one thing they want."
"Alright, you're on. I'll play for real this time and I won't lose!"
Arcadia lost the race. She pouted at the screen, wondering where Taeyong had been hiding his racing skills. She'd won all the other times they'd played the racing game. Taeyong instantly cheered and smiled at Arcadia, only for her to playfully push him away from her.
"Don't rub it in my face. How'd you win anyway?" Arcadia muttered a little bitterly to her lover. "I had a damn good thing for you to do for me..."
"I have a good thing too, alright? Don't be upset." Taeyong smiled at her, which caused her to smile back at him too.
"Fine, fine. What do you want me to do?"
"When the time is right, you'll know what to do." Taeyong's response was cryptic and obviously confusing.
"Hmm..." Arcadia thought for a moment before shrugging her shoulders. "I trust you. You wouldn't lead me wrong. I'll remember this."
"Thank you for trusting me." Taeyong smiled at her and leaned in for a kiss. She kissed him back instantly. However, once she pulled away she frowned at her phone.
"I should be getting home soon. It's getting late. We played games for a long ass time." To Arcadia's words, Taeyong pouted.
"I still want to spend time with you." Taeyong frowned at his lover, which caused her to laugh at him.
"We have the rest of our lives to spend time together."
"Really? Do you really mean that?"
"Of course I do. I have no intentions of leaving you again. You are the one I want to be with for the rest of my life. Then after that, I want to be ghosts with you."
"I feel the same," Taeyong replied as he leaned in for another kiss. However, someone else spoke up before the couple could kiss.
"Just get married already then." Taeyong and Arcadia jolted, smacking their heads against each other before turning to the new voice in the doorway. It was Johnny standing there with a smirk on his face. "If you couldn't tell, we're all home now. We all want to hang out with Arcadia now."
"Huh?" Arcadia was instantly hit with a wave of nervousness. She looked right at Taeyong with terror in her eyes. "Are the others angry with me for leaving like I did? Do I need to be worried about this?"
"We all were a little upset with you for leaving, but talking with you now would help calm that," Johnny replied instead of Taeyong. Arcadia looked at the taller man and nodded her head.
"Alright. I don't want them upset with me anymore. I want to show everyone that I won't hurt Taeyong anymore. Or at least won't do it purposely." So, with those words, Arcadia and Taeyong got up and headed with Johnny to the kitchen where everyone else was. Once in the room of chatting men, Mark noticed Arcadia first.
"Oh, hey. How'd your day go?" Mark asked Arcadia specifically, only for Johnny to respond to him.
"I walked in on them playing video games and talking about getting married," Johnny replied with a chuckle.
"Are you serious?" Yuta was the first one to react to Johnny's words. "Are you both serious about marriage?"
"It was that kind of talk, but it was more like we were just making sure we both were on the same page; that we both wanted to be together for the rest of eternity," Arcadia replied a little nervously to the man. Her words drew in the others' attentions.
"Are you planning on running away again?" Doyoung asked in a clearly skeptical tone. He wasn't sure about her at that moment. Arcadia just shook her head; no.
"I don't need to run away again. I'm mentally stable and because of that, I now realize what is most important in my life." Arcadia responded before continuing before anyone else could say anything more. "I'm so sorry for all of the distress I caused. Not only for those I knew well, but for everyone around me."
"Why did you not come back when Taeyong was suffering so badly? Not to mention how your sister nearly died from her grief." Haechan was another one who was skeptical of the woman in front of him.
"All I can do now is make up for the pain I caused. I can't take back how I did things."
"How do you plan on making up for the pain you caused? You cut Taeyong and Eclipse deep." Taeil questioned a lot less harshly than Doyoung and Haechan.
"I need to show them that I plan on staying and that I won't be leaving again."
"Would that even be enough?" Jungwoo asked simply, not meaning for it to be rude.
"I don't know. Eclipse is quite broken now. Also, I know that he isn't showing it, but Taeyong must be broken too because of me."
"I believe in you, Arcadia. I know that everyone around you, including the fans, will forgive you. I know you didn't act out of malice but out of the need to better yourself and your mental health." Jaehyun was by far the most understanding of the bunch. Arcadia nearly started to cry from his kind words.
"Thank you for your words." Arcadia smiled at Jaehyun and then looked to the group to address them all. "I know that I could have gone about things better, but I was afraid to."
"What do you mean?" Taeyong questioned from Arcadia's side.
"If I remained in touch with anyone, someone might have pressured me into coming back sooner. They might have interrupted the process I needed to go through. Even if they didn't do it on purpose, they might have done it subconsciously to get their way. Especially if it was my manager talking to me. I didn't want to put myself at stake. No matter how badly I wanted to give up and end my life, I just as equally wanted to fight for my life and be happy again. I didn't know how to be happy at that time, and I was so scared I would hurt myself if I didn't leave and get away from it all." Arcadia explained to the whole group. They were silent for a few moments before Mark spoke up.
"I believe in you, just as Jaehyun does. I know everything will work out in its own way one day soon." Mark spoke to the woman as he approached her to hug her.
"Thank you, Mark." Arcadia accepted his hug, before being pulled into a tight hug by Taeyong. He didn't say anything, he just held her from behind. This surprised her and concerned her. "What's wrong?"
"I just understand a bit more now why you left the way you did." Taeyong finally spoke in response to Arcadia. Arcadia smiled at him and held his hands that were around her.
"You both are sickening together," Haechan grumbled to the couple.
"Be quiet, it's good to see them back together and happy again," Mark grumbled back at the younger man. Arcadia chuckled at their interaction before her phone went off suddenly, signifying that she received a text.
"Oh, Sophia texted me. She needs me back at the dorm now. There's something she needs to tell the whole group." Arcadia frowned as she read the text from her manager. Taeyong frowned with her and held her tighter.
"I guess I'll have our driver take you back home, but I'm coming too," Taeyong muttered to the woman in his arms. Arcadia chuckled and nodded her head in agreement. She knew that there wasn't a point to argue with him, besides, she wanted to see him for a little longer anyway. Arcadia watched as Taeyong pulled out his phone to call his driver. Taking this time without her man, she turned to Mark and Johnny.
"Johnny, Mark, I wanted to thank you two. I truly appreciate your friendship and the push you gave me to make up with Taeyong. I really needed that."
"That's what friends are for!" Mark responded as he and Johnny both hugged Arcadia. She chuckled and hugged them both back.
"I do have one more question before you leave," Doyoung spoke up after Taeyong returned to the conversation after calling for the driver.
"Alright."
"What did you change your appearance so drastically?"
"I always wanted a lip piercing and a few more tattoos. Even though no one can see my new tattoos... But anyway, I just wanted to try out black hair and get this piercing I wanted for so long. So I changed how I look."
"Where are your new tattoos?" Taeyong asked his lover, who smirked in return.
"I'd have to be pretty much naked to show them to anyone, but maybe one day I'll show you." To Arcadia's words, Taeyong blushed and froze in his breathing. The others burst into laughter over her words and Taeyong's reaction.
"Oh my..." Taeyong gasped out as a delayed response. He wasn't used to Arcadia saying such things. So, Taeyong grabbed Arcadia's hand and hurried out of the dorm. Arcadia chuckled and waved goodbye to the others before the door closed behind her. The couple made their way silently to the car waiting for them. Once there, they climbed into the backseat and sat holding hands as the car began the trek to her dorm building.
"Hey, Taeyong?" Arcadia started as she leaned into his shoulder. She then whispered into his ear. "I have a rose tattoo dedicated to you, somewhere only you can see one day." Taeyong's thoughts fizzled out into blankness. Once his brain rebooted, there was one question on his mind.
"Why'd you get that when we weren't together?"
"I always planned on coming back to you. My heart has always belonged to you. No matter what, despite me leaving you." Arcadia's response sent Taeyong feeling guilty for ever dating Sierra. It must have shown on his face because Arcadia frowned at him. "You shouldn't be guilty. I told you to move on."
"Still. I should have stayed faithful to you. I shouldn't have gone off with someone else."
"It's alright, Taeyong. We're together again and nothing and no one will break us up this time."
"I agree." Taeyong smiled at Arcadia and leaned in to give her a kiss. Just as they finished their kiss, they were informed that they were at Arcadia's building.
"I'll go up alone. I don't want to keep you any longer." Arcadia then hurried up and got out of the vehicle. "Text me later! Love you!" With that, Arcadia made her way into the building. She went up to her dorm and opened up the door. "I'm home!" Arcadia called out to the group.
"Welcome back." Eclipse had been standing there in the entrance, waiting for her sister to return, with the growing cub in her arms. "Glad you're home." Eclipse made her way to the living room where the others were already seated. Instead of Taemin being there like he'd been before, their manager Sophia was there.
"Oh, where'd Taemin go?" Arcadia asked as she looked down the hallway to see if he was in a room there.
"I sent him home for a bit. He deserved some rest." Eclipse explained simply as both sisters sat down next to each other.
"Alright, now that everyone is here, there's something I have to say." Sophia began to the group as she stood up in front of everyone. "I know you wanted to take it slowly, Arcadia, but for the sake of the group I hope you're alright with what I'm about to say."
"Okay?" Arcadia was obviously confused as she looked around at the other equally as confused women.
"You all have a huge performance coming up. It'll be your comeback with Arcadia and your first major performance in a while. That said, you'll be busy working on new songs, dances, and everything else that is involved in this performance."
"When will we perform?" Ga-eul asked the question that the others were all thinking of as well.
"Three months from today." Hearing this from their manager, every woman felt something different from each other.
Ga-eul felt thrilled. Kim-Lee felt nervous but excited. Aurora felt intensely happy. Amara felt terrified. Nova was horrified. Eclipse was ready for anything. Arcadia was neutral though.
Arcadia wasn't sure how she felt about this news. She was excited about the performance but nervous about how sudden it was. Since she hadn't done any music or anything involving music for a while, Arcadia was a cluster of nervousness.
"Don't worry, Arc. We'll do great!" Nova felt just as nervous but she put on a brave face and tried to reassure her friend.
"Right..." Arcadia muttered in response. Arcadia then took a deep breath and stood up. "I have something to say to everyone here."
"What is it?" Eclipse asked her sister, unsure of what the younger woman was about to say to the group. Sophia sat down and looked patiently on as Arcadia gathered the right words to say.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry for how harsh I've been toward everyone, but you all were acting like I am the same person I was before. Like I haven't changed at all, but I have. I'm not the same as I was before and I need you to treat me as such."
"What do you mean?" Nova questioned the standing woman.
"I'm mentally different. It has been affecting how I view everyone here, but I'll work on that as long as you all work on accepting the change in me. I need you all to understand that I'm not the same woman I was. As long as you understand that, then I'll try my best to be accustomed to everyone around me."
"Alright. We'll try to pay more attention to your changes. We'd love it though if you included yourself in more group activities again."
"We will be more supportive of your changes, Arcadia. We understand that people change and that you have now." Ga-eul spoke up before Arcadia could say anything to her sister.
"Right!" Nova was the first to agree with the leader. This was followed by the other women agreeing as well.
"Alright, now that is understood. Get to work!" Sophia stood up and smiled at the group of women. "Good luck, Coven." With that, Sophia left the dorm, leaving the women to their work.
"I'll admit... I'm nervous to write songs after all this time... Even so, I think I'll be alright, with some help." Arcadia said to the group around her. Everyone seemed to be happy to hear her words to them. So, they got to work.
Coven worked together to brainstorm some songs that they had been wanting to do as a group. There were many ideas flowing around and they were progressing into writing actual songs, but they decided to take a break so that Arcadia wasn't overwhelmed. She had been doing good at thinking and putting in her input for the potential songs, but when it came to writing them, she got nervous again.
"Hey, I am gonna go to my room for a moment. I have to make a phone call." Arcadia informed everyone as she stood up from the couch she'd been seated on.
"Alright, just come back soon," Ga-eul instructed the woman. Arcadia nodded her head and made her way to her bedroom. She pulled out her phone and dialed the number she needed to call. It was Ten. She knew that it was finally time to say how sorry she was about blowing him off before. So, she called him, and to her surprise, he answered right away.
"Arcadia?" Ten asked, seemingly already knowing who was calling him.
"Hey, Ten. Do you have time to talk? Also, how'd you know it was me?" Arcadia replied to the man. She heard him chuckle for a moment before replying to her.
"Taeyong gave me your number and told me to expect your call. I have plenty of time to talk to you. What'd you want to talk about?"
"I want to apologize to you for ghosting you. I wasn't in the right place to talk to people but I think I'm getting better about that."
"I completely understand. I talked to Taeyong and he explained some things to me about how you were feeling before and after your disappearance."
"Thank you for understanding, Ten. You have no idea how much I appreciate you and our friendship. We'll have to hang out eventually for some more 'girl talk'. However, that might be a while. Coven will be having a big performance in three months."
"Oh wow. Congratulations. You'll be super busy then. Just remember, take time for yourself."
"Thank you for your concern. I'll see you eventually." Arcadia chuckled as she spoke.
"See you." Ten replied with a chuckle of his own. The two hung up then and Arcadia made her way back to her group. They'd gotten back to the song brainstorming so Arcadia just jumped right back into it too. They worked until they gathered some solid ideas. It took a while, but the growl of Eclipse's stomach signified that it was time for some food and then some sleep. So, that's what they did. They ate food together for the first time in a while and then parted ways.
Arcadia went to her room after telling the others goodnight. She then got ready for bed and climbed into the bed. Before going to sleep though, she sent Taeyong a text letting him know about the news of the upcoming performance. She informed him that she'd be busy until then, but that she would make an effort to hang out with him if she could. She wasn't sure though.
Taeyong immediately replied to her with a frowny face before explaining to her that he'll miss her, but that he's excited for her and Coven. He then told her that he loves her and will try to schedule his days off around whenever she was free.
Arcadia told him that she was thankful for that and told him she loved him too. They then told each other goodnight and Arcadia got all snuggled into bed. She wasn't sure what the future held now, but for the first time in a while, she was excited for what was to come.
