Chapter 38

Arcadia didn't take a nap for only a few hours. She actually woke up feeling confused as it was dark now. She looked at her phone's clock and saw that it was around three in the morning. While on her phone, she saw she had a text, but from Miles.

"Holy fuck dude..." Arcadia literally facepalmed herself. She'd forgotten to get Taeyong's number on her new phone. She never gave him her new number either. "I guess I should go to Eclipse? She did say to wake her up when I woke up..." So, Arcadia got out of bed and made her way to her sister's room, only to see it empty. "Uh, what?" She then noticed that there were some faint sounds coming from the living room. Arcadia figured that her sister must be there with Taemin and Precious, so that's where she went next.

"Oh, good morning. It seems like we all had a good nap." Eclipse noticed Arcadia first. She and Taemin laid on the couch facing the TV but Eclipse had been sitting up as she heard Arcadia approaching them. Taemin was sleeping, apparently in a deep sleep though as he didn't even notice that Eclipse spoke. Precious was in her bed in the middle of the room, sleeping.

"I think we full-on slept the day and most of the night away. That isn't a nap." Arcadia replied to her sister as she made her way to the couch next to them.

"True." Eclipse chuckled with a nod of her head. "So what's up?"

"I woke up and realized that I didn't have anyone's numbers in my new phone. I can't contact any of you currently."

"Oh damn. Here, take my phone and get all the numbers off of it." Eclipse maneuvered herself so she could grab her phone from the table and hand it to her sister. She did all this without disturbing Taemin too much. He just wiggled around and held onto her tighter than before as if one of them were going to fall off the couch.

"Thanks." Arcadia took the phone and went through her sister's contacts and gathered the ones she wanted. It didn't take too long to gather the phone numbers since there weren't too many people Arcadia even talked to in the first place. After she was done with Eclipse's phone, she set it back down on the table. She was going to thank her sister, but Eclipse had fallen asleep.

So, Arcadia just went back to her bedroom and sat down at her desk. She pulled out the writing stuff she'd had on the island and began to write. It was the first story she'd been able to write in a long time. She hadn't been fully mentally there for her last one, so she scrapped that and started a new one. This one was a mystical journey story and she seemed really interested in this story this time.

Arcadia got so wrapped up in writing that she didn't even notice that a few hours passed by. It was daylight now but Arcadia didn't notice until Eclipse walked into her bedroom and began to speak to her.

"Yo, Taeyong just texted me. He was asking about you since you never gave him your number." Eclipse declared, breaking Arcadia out of her trance. The black-haired woman looked at her sister with confusion. "It's about seven in the morning now. You should get ready for your day or something. You're still wearing yesterday's clothes, which also were the previous day's clothes as well."

"Oh... Fuck, okay. My bad." Arcadia chuckled in surprise at herself. "I'll text Taeyong. Thanks for letting me know he texted you." Eclipse just nodded her head and left her sister's room. Arcadia pulled out her phone and sent Taeyong a text stating who she was and that this was her new number. Taeyong replied nearly right away telling her that she could come over whenever she wanted as he took the day off to spend with her. Arcadia informed him that she needed to get ready for the day, but then she'd be on her way.

Arcadia then set her phone down and went to her bathroom. She took a shower and put in eye drops to replenish her contacts as they got a bit dry from her sleeping with them in. She then changed into new clothes and gathered the stuff that she wanted to take with her. After getting completely ready, she headed into the living room to see the rest of Coven and Taemin, and Precious all there.

"I'm going to Taeyong, but um... where's my car?" Arcadia declared to the group of people.

"You can't leave." Eclipse instantly replied to her sister.

"I'm only going a little ways away. Don't worry."

"Your car is in your parking spot. We hoped one day you'd return and need it again." Ga-eul informed the woman, who was ignoring her sister's worried look now. Ga-eul pulled out the keys to the car and held them up to Arcadia.

"Thank you," Arcadia replied as she grabbed her keys from Ga-eul as she walked past her. "I'll see you guys later."

With those words, Arcadia walked out of the dorm and made her way to her car. Once in her car, she sat there a moment and just enjoyed the fact that she was back in it. She'd missed her precious car and missed driving around too. The island she'd been on had no cars and everyone walked everywhere or biked occasionally. So Arcadia was glad to be back there in the car she loved so much.

After promising the car that she wouldn't leave it again, she started it up and began to make her way to Taeyong. She texted Taeyong, letting him know she was officially on her way now.

The car ran just fine for not being driven pretty much at all since she'd left. Arcadia might have been a little overly excited because she broke the speed limit and ended up at Taeyong's a little sooner than she expected to. Thankfully though, Taeyong was waiting for her in the lobby. As soon as they saw each other, they hurried to each other and smiled at one another.

"Hey," Arcadia spoke to Taeyong in a happier voice than she'd been using with him.

"Hey, nice to see you again," Taeyong replied as he led her to the elevators. Once there, Arcadia took the chance to text Eclipse and let her know that she'd gotten to Taeyong safely. Eclipse replied right away, confirming her arrival and letting her know to keep in contact.

"So, what are our plans for the day?" Arcadia asked the man next to her as they walked to his dorm. They entered and Taeyong smiled at her.

"I was hoping you'd be alright with a movie day."

"That sounds perfect," Arcadia responded as she followed the man to the living room couch. Taeyong had the first movie picked out already. It was some comedy that Arcadia felt she might like and was glad Taeyong chose.

"Do you want any snacks or anything to drink?" Taeyong questioned as he looked at the kitchen area.

"Not right now, but maybe later?"

"Alright, sounds good." So, with that, Taeyong turned the movie on and they got to watching it.

There were a lot of laughs and a lot of tears from laughter during this movie. It brought Arcadia and Taeyong much joy and happiness. Even so, there was an air of awkwardness around them. Usually, they'd be cuddling on the couch while watching the movie, but this time they didn't. They didn't even hold hands. They merely watched the movie and laughed at it.

Once the movie was over, Taeyong got them water since they were thirsty from all the laughing. This is when his mind went dark on him. He watched as Arcadia checked her phone and sent a text, but he couldn't tell who she was texting.

"Arcadia? Can I ask you something?" Taeyong suddenly brought up as Arcadia put her phone away.

"Sure, what's up?" Arcadia responded to the man next to her as she turned to look at him.

"What are we?"

"I mean, if you want us to be dating, then let's date again," Arcadia replied with a shrug of her shoulders. She knew that wasn't the right response as soon as it came out of her mouth. Taeyong frowned at her.

"What do you want though?" Taeyong's question was left unanswered for a few minutes before Arcadia finally responded.

"I'm not sure anymore. I mean I want to be with you, but I think I still need to work out a few things..."

"Do you even love me anymore?" Taeyong's question hurt himself to ask, and he could see that it hurt her to hear. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked that..."

"I do love you, Taeyong. I never stopped... But have you? Do you still love me?" Arcadia could see Taeyong's face contort into a hurt and confused expression.

"What do you mean by that?"

"You clearly aren't sure that you still love me. If you were, you'd have answered. You need to know for sure, and I need to know for sure because if I give you my all and you hurt me in the end, you'll regret it." Arcadia spoke that last part in a threatening tone before standing up and grabbing the bag she'd brought with her. "I suddenly have a thought for a song for my group, I think I should go home and deal with it."

"Wait! Arcadia?!" Taeyong reached out for her, but Arcadia moved quickly out of his reach. She practically ran out of the dorm and never even looked back and saw the damage she'd done. Taeyong was left all alone, hurt and confused. He wasn't sure what was going through Arcadia's head, but he knew that he didn't like where her thoughts had been going. He could only hope to hear from her sooner rather than later.

~ ~ ~

Taeyong didn't hear from her soon or at all for that fact. For the next few days, Arcadia dodged all of Taeyong's texts and calls. Whenever she did answer the texts, it was only to tell Taeyong that she can't hang out because of work and other various excuses. Taeyong had been feeling worse and worse every time he called and he was sent straight to voicemail.

During those days, the people closest to Arcadia had begun to realize that she was different than before. It'd been obvious but in those days, she'd showed just how different she was. Arcadia wasn't as friendly with Coven as she'd been before. She didn't banter with Amara or Nova like before. She shut it down instantly whenever either woman tried to start something with her. She wasn't even as kind to Nova as she'd been.

Arcadia also refused to let anyone touch her. She was honest about it and told them that it made her feel sick and it infuriated her to be touched by anyone without her permission.

Arcadia also just stayed in her room unless she had to be with the others. She didn't even allow Eclipse to be near her for a prolonged amount of time. It had become clear to the women of Coven that Arcadia just really didn't like them anymore or want to hang out with them anymore.

Arcadia's difference even extended to her NCT friends. Ten would text her, but Arcadia would just completely blow him off and not even bother to respond beyond one-word responses. She was also the same way with Johnny and Mark. However, those two men weren't having her unfriendly actions toward them.

After those few days, Mark and Johnny had told Eclipse to keep Arcadia awake until midnight. So, with Coven's help, Arcadia was awake at midnight and was instantly annoyed when Mark and Johnny walked into the dorm.

"Hey there, old friend." Johnny started to speak to Arcadia. She frowned instantly. "We're here to kidnap you."

"Um..." Arcadia tried to formulate thoughts but she was far too tired to think clearly.

"You have no choice. Let's go." Mark was uncharacteristically harsh to Arcadia. This caused the woman to stand right up and grab her cell phone before following after Mark and Johnny. The two men led her to a nearby park and found a bench to sit on together. Arcadia sat in the middle, while Johnny sat to her right and Mark sat to her left.

"What is this about? Why did you bring me out here?" Arcadia asked the two men as they just sat there in silence for a few moments.

"How are you doing? Are you any better than you were before?" Mark began the questioning of the woman. Arcadia wasn't sure if it was a trick question or not, so she didn't bother responding.

"You know that you're making everyone around you worried, right?" Johnny asked next, which obviously made Arcadia upset. She frowned right away.

"I do feel different. I'm just not sure if it is a good difference or not. I noticed that things are different in a bad way around me. I feel completely different about everything and everyone in my life." Arcadia admitted to the two men in a conflicted tone.

"What does that mean?" Mark simply asked Arcadia, not meaning to sound confused or anything.

"I'm not sure about the people around me anymore. I obviously have to deal with Eclipse because we're sisters, but otherwise, I'm not really sure if I want to deal with the others or not. I am finding the people around me to be troublesome and I don't think I like them all that much anymore. I can't tell if they were always this weird and annoying or if I'm the problem now."

"People around me are always annoying and sometimes even I'm the annoying one. But dude, I still love them all because they are my friends." Mark replied to Arcadia in the best way he could.

"I'm not even sure if I even love anyone anymore. I just feel a little numb to everything."

"Are your medications causing that?" Johnny asked Arcadia, but she just shrugged her shoulders.

"Taeyong is hurt right now. He's been hurting because of how you've been acting toward him." Mark informed the now guilty feeling woman next to him.

"I'm sorry... I just have been unsure of him too. I'm worried he had moved on and now is backtracking because he thinks that he's supposed to." Arcadia's voice was quiet as she spoke as if she was ashamed to even think that way.

"I assure you, Arcadia, Taeyong loves you. He really really does." Mark told the wounded Arcadia. "Look, I think you two need to talk things out before any more misunderstandings happen." Arcadia seemed interested, but hesitant.

"We can take you to him right now," Johnny spoke up, hoping that would entice Arcadia even more.

"No... I can't..." Arcadia muttered sadly.

"You two need to work things out. You are at a standstill and you need to figure things out. Even if you two decide to end things forever, you guys deserve to have that closure." Johnny's words seemed to strike something in Arcadia's heart.

"Alright. Let's go." Arcadia finally agreed, nearly making Mark and Johnny cheer. They kept themselves under control and hurried Arcadia to the car they'd come in. they drove her quickly back to their dorm. They wanted to go fast because they didn't want Arcadia to decide against it all and change her mind.

Once they got to their dorm, everything was dark and it was clear that not a single person was awake. Arcadia made her way to Taeyong's room and walked into it silently, only to see him sleeping comfortably in his bed. Arcadia looked back at Mark and Johnny with confusion in her eyes.

"Wake him up and talk to him," Johnny muttered to Arcadia as he pushed her into the bedroom and closed the door behind her. This left Arcadia to just stand there in Taeyong's bedroom, not knowing what to do.

Ultimately, Arcadia chose to not wake up Taeyong. She decided to go through all of the emotions swimming around inside her head and heart. She was felt pain and guilt because she'd caused those she loved pain and suffering while she was gone. She felt anger toward herself for pushing Taeyong away from her while she figured things out. She felt love and lust toward Taeyong, both of which were bothering her. She wasn't sure how he was feeling about her now, so she wasn't sure if she even had the right to love of lust after him anymore.

After going through her feelings internally, Arcadia thought about the people in her life. She loved her sister, but Eclipse was too much sometimes. She loved the others of Coven, but they were also too much sometimes. All of them together were nearly too difficult to deal with at times. Arcadia hated feeling like her friends and family were annoying, but she couldn't help it. She'd grown different and they weren't treating her like she was. It bothered her because she honestly wasn't the same woman she was before.

Arcadia sighed to herself and frowned. She didn't want to hurt anyone, but it was clear that she'd hurt Taeyong and her sister greatly. Those were the last two people she wanted to hurt. She loved Taeyong, very much and she felt horrible about that.

"Taeyong..." Arcadia muttered to the sleeping man. "I'm so sorry for how I've been treating you. I know you just wanted to help me and love me. You deserve better than me and if you want to let me go, then I'll let you go. I just hope that you can forgive me and that we can move on together and be better this time."

Taeyong didn't wake up to Arcadia's words, but he did change position in his bed. This caused Arcadia to sigh again, but this time she decided to sit down. She sat down against Taeyong's bed and leaned against it. Arcadia decided to just wait for Taeyong to wake up. She wasn't sure how long it'd take, but she didn't plan on moving until he was awake.

"I just want things to be normal. I want to be normal. I don't want to feel like things are strange or awkward between us anymore. I want to be normal with you again." Arcadia muttered as she leaned her head back against the bed. She yawned and closed her eyes, telling herself that she'd only sleep for a few minutes. She hadn't gotten the chance to sleep yet that night, so she was exhausted.

~ ~ ~

"Arcadia?" Said woman opened her eyes to see Taeyong above her, looking down at her in confusion. She sat up and yawned before turning to look at him. "How are you here?"

"Mark and Johnny brought me here last night at midnight, hoping that you were awake so we could figure things out, but you were sleeping. So I sat here and fell asleep while waiting for you." Arcadia muttered sleepily to the confused man.

"Alright? Well, um... Let me wake up some more, then we can talk." Taeyong himself had just woken up as well. The first thing he saw was black hair and was confused beyond belief. He felt a sense of relief when he saw it was Arcadia, but then he felt dread because he wasn't sure why she was there.

"No problem. I need to wake up too. Go get ready for the day, I'll be here." Arcadia replied to the man who was only wearing sleep pants and a loose-fitting shirt. Taeyong nodded his head and climbed out of bed. He grabbed some clothes and left this room to get ready for the day. As he walked out of the door, he very literally tripped over nothing, which made Arcadia chuckle quietly.

After a few minutes, Taeyong returned fully dressed and clearly more awake than before. Arcadia was now seated on his bed, patiently waiting for him. Once he walked into his room, he made his way to her and sat down next to her.

"Do you want to start talking first? Or should I?" Taeyong questioned as he looked at Arcadia.

"Oh, do you have something to say?" Arcadia was confused and it was clear in her tone.

"I do."

"Alright then, you go first." Arcadia felt nervous about what Taeyong could want to tell her. She became even more nervous when he looked down at his hands and frowned.

"I thought about what you said before and I want you to know this. I truly love you, Arcadia. I want to remain by your side. As a best friend, a family member, a lover. Honestly, just any way I can keep you in my life. I'll take anything as long as we can remain side by side." Taeyong then turned and looked at Arcadia with conviction in his eyes. "I won't take no for an answer. I won't let you leave me again."

Instead of replying verbally to Taeyong, Arcadia grabbed his face and kissed him, right on the lips. He was surprised but kissed her back immediately. After a moment, Arcadia pulled away and smiled at him as she leaned her forehead against his and let her hands drop back to her lap.

"Taeyong, I don't want you as a friend, family, or just a lover. I want you as all of the above. I love you too. That hasn't changed and never will. The way I love and act might have changed a bit, but I still want everything with you. I want the future we can have; the family, the love, the happiness. Everything. I'm so sorry for being so harsh with you. I just wasn't sure about things. I mean I'm still not too sure about most things, but I am sure that I don't want to live without you. You were my driving force for me to get better."

"Thank you for telling me this. I promise, Arcadia, I'll help you get sure of other things. We'll work things out together."

"Good. It'd be nice to have some help. Especially if it were my boyfriend that was helping me." Arcadia pulled away from Taeyong and smirked at him. He smiled back, understanding what she meant.

"I'd love to help out my girlfriend," Taeyong replied with a chuckle. The two then shared another kiss and hugged each other. "It's nice to be back with you. To be able to be next to you and touch you again."

"I agree," Arcadia responded as she leaned in for another kiss. The kiss never happened though, as her stomach began to growl, which ruined the sweet moment they were having. Taeyong laughed instantly as Arcadia blushed. "Sorry, I don't think I've eaten since yesterday morning. I was avoiding my group most of the day. I'm really hungry all of a sudden."

"That's alright. I'll make you something to eat. I'm pretty hungry too." Taeyong stood up and grabbed Arcadia's hand, pulling her along with him to the kitchen. Arcadia happily followed after Taeyong as she held his hand tightly in hers. She felt truly happy to be back with Taeyong. They might have gotten back together, but they both knew that this time, they would last.
