Chapter 31

During the next three days, the group chat members all decided what some of them wanted to do. They did a poll and eventually, the winning activity was ghost hunting at an abandoned asylum that Coven had been wanting to go to for a long time now.

The people, other than Taeyong and Arcadia, who had time off and agreed to go were Ga-eul, Aurora, Nova, Eclipse, Taemin, Ten, Mark, Kai, Johnny, Jaehyun, and Minho. Eclipse decided to leave Precious at home with Amara and Kim-Lee for the little tiger's safety.

The Coven members had yet to meet Jaehyun or Minho in person, along with Johnny, minus Arcadia of course since she'd met him already. So, once all thirteen idols were there at the asylum as soon as night fell, they all greeted each other happily.

Minho had been informed all about Eclipse and Taemin's pasts together, so as soon as he approached Eclipse, he hugged her.

"You're my little sister now, alright?" Minho spoke to Eclipse, causing her to chuckle as she hugged him in return.

"Alright, sounds good," Eclipse responded with a smile on her face. It brought Taemin great joy to see his group-mate/friend and lover getting along so quickly. As Minho and Eclipse got acquainted with each other, Johnny was introducing Jaehyun to Arcadia.

"It's nice to finally meet the woman Taeyong has been talking so much about," Jaehyun spoke to Arcadia, which prompted her to blush instantly.

"Oh god, I hope he didn't say anything weird about me." Arcadia laughed nervously as she responded.

"Don't worry. Only Mark has said some weird things about you."

"Huh?!"

"I'm kidding." Jaehyun chuckled at the flustered woman and smiled at her. "It really is nice to finally meet you. I have a feeling we'll be good friends."

"Thank you. It's nice to meet you as well." Arcadia returned his smile before she was abruptly pulled away from Johnny and Jaehyun. "Huh?" Arcadia turned slightly to look at Taeyong, who was the one pulling her away from the two men. "Taeyong? What's up?"

"You haven't said a single word to me yet." Taeyong had his back turned to Arcadia as he pulled her, but she could hear in his voice that he was pouting. This caused Arcadia to smile and stop allowing him to pull her along. She stood up straight again and pulled Taeyong around to face her.

"I'm sorry, Taeyong. I'll give you more attention from now on." Arcadia stood up higher to kiss him with a smile on her face. He kissed her back and pulled her closer to him.

"Uh... If you two are going to keep going, please get a room." Mark was right next to the couple, blushing and looking away. Immediately, Taeyong and Arcadia pulled away from each other.

"My bad." Arcadia chuckled with a red face to match her red hair. "Was there something you needed?"

"Eclipse wants everyone to gather around before going in," Mark replied before walking away from Taeyong and Arcadia. The couple followed after him and joined the other idols who were all gathering at the entrance of the asylum. Arcadia and Taeyong walked through the group and made it to Eclipse just as she started speaking to Taemin.

"I wish the full moon was visible. It would set the mood perfectly." Eclipse spoke as she looked up at the cloudy sky.

"Maybe it'll come out a little later?" Arcadia responded even though she wasn't the one her sister had spoken to.

"Maybe." Eclipse shrugged her shoulders and turned to the group of idols. "Everyone got their flashlights or phones ready? It'll be dark and I don't want anyone falling through the floor or something." There was a collective muttering of varying ways they were all saying they were ready. So, with everyone ready, Eclipse opened the doors to the asylum and instantly froze. The rest of the Coven members that were there also froze and all looked at each other.

"What's wrong?" Taemin questioned Eclipse as he realized that something was wrong. He couldn't feel the dark and stifling feeling that the witches felt, but he could feel the concern from Eclipse's aura. Everyone else was put on edge as various of them could feel the concern and tension that was now in the air.

"There's a negative feeling from the asylum that we didn't feel before. We should all be extra careful now. Not just of the decaying floor, but of the spirits that reside here."

"What does that mean? Are we in danger now?" Ten questioned as he stepped forward to Eclipse.

"Well, I was hoping that I didn't need to bring them out, but I brought some protective bracelets for everyone. As long as you wear it, you'll be safe from any supernatural presence. Nothing will be able to hurt or possess you while you're wearing those bracelets." Eclipse hurried to her car and pulled out the box of bracelets that she'd brought with her. After distributing them out, she realized that she was one short as she only had twelve bracelets. "I guess I'll be fine without one. Demons, spirits, and anything else are not capable of possessing me or harming me."

"As long as you're sure you'll be safe..." Taemin muttered to his lover. Eclipse smiled at him and thanked him for being concerned with her safety.

"Besides, Taemin and I will protect you if we absolutely have to." Minho declared to the pink-haired woman. Eclipse couldn't help but chuckle and thank him as well. She then turned to look at Arcadia, who was putting the bracelet on Taeyong's right wrist.

"Do not take this off. No matter what happens or who tells you to. Only take it off once you are back home and even then, don't do it if you feel anything weird." Arcadia informed Taeyong as she held his wrist and bracelet in her hands.

"Alright," Taeyong smiled at Arcadia as he was happy to see her worried about him.

"Okay, now is everyone ready? Remember, be recording on your phone or take pictures when you want to. Try to catch any evidence." Eclipse turned to the whole group and received a bunch of nods and agreements. Everyone had their phones out, minus Coven. Arcadia and Eclipse decided to enjoy the time, not try to capture any evidence. Meanwhile, Ga-eul, Aurora, and Nova all had professional cameras.

"I think it'd be best for everyone and the spirits if we all broke off into groups. The spirits might be too scared to come out if there are all thirteen of us in one area." Ga-eul suggested as she approached Eclipse in the front of the group.

"Sounds good. I was thinking the same thing." Eclipse responded with a smile. "Alright, I'll be a group leader and I'll take Taemin, Minho, Nova, and Kai. Is that alright with you four?" Each of the four agreed instantly and walked off to the side with Eclipse so the others could decide groups.

"I'll be another group leader." Ga-eul declared as she turned to the group. "I'll take Aurora, Johnny, and Jaehyun. Arcadia is the last group leader."

"That means I'll have Taeyong, Ten, and Mark, right?" Arcadia asked as she looked through the group, taking a mental count of everyone.

"Right. Is that okay?"

"Yep." Arcadia motioned for her group to follow her and they gathered around her as the others did the same with their group leaders.

"I'll take the basement with my group," Ga-eul stated to the other group leaders.

"I'll take the second floor," Arcadia replied simply as she looked at her sister.

"I'll take the third floor, and later we all can try the first floor together if we really want to," Eclipse responded as she looked at everyone around them. "Let's get going then. We all can keep an eye out for paranormal activity as we walk to the stairs to go our separate ways."

"Right." Ga-eul nodded her head and they all started their trek to the staircase that was near the middle of the building. Unfortunately, or possibly fortunately for those who were already freaked out, there was no paranormal activity on their way to the staircase. It seemed as though Ga-eul had been correct, the spirits were too afraid of them.

Once they reached the stairs, Ga-eul and her group headed down them into the pitch-blackness, while the other two groups headed up. It was difficult to walk up the stairs in the darkness, even with their flashlights and phone flashlights. The stairs had various debris on them and in some places, there were even missing and sinking parts of the stairs. Even so, no one fell through the floor as they reached the second floor.

"If you need anything, call for me. I'll hear you no matter where I am." Eclipse spoke to her younger sister as Arcadia and her group began to walk onto the second floor.

"I can handle myself and my group. We'll all be safe, so just worry about your own group." Arcadia's words were a little snippy, but Eclipse didn't take them to heart too much. She understood that Arcadia wanted to try to be strong. So, Eclipse and her group continued on to the next floor, while Arcadia and the men with her walked away from the staircase.

"Arcadia, why were you so rude to Eclipse? She just wants to protect you." Taeyong asked his lover, which caused her to stop walking and sigh at him.

"I just don't want to be babied anymore. I want to be able to take care of myself."

"Aren't you trying too hard, considering what you'd admitted the other day?"

"Don't talk about that. Don't even bring it up anymore, alright?" Arcadia's words were harsh toward Taeyong. This made Mark and Ten instantly curious and worried about what was meant.

"Is everything alright with you, Arcadia?" Ten asked as he looked at the slightly annoyed woman. She sighed and frowned at Ten, but he could tell she was just upset with herself for being rude to Taeyong.

"I'm just going through some personal things, but everything will be fine... eventually."

"You know, we're all friends here and we care about you. We can try to help you the best we can if there is something that you need to talk about." Mark suggested, trying to be a good friend. Arcadia smiled at Mark, but there was sadness in her

eyes.

"That's sweet, Mark, but I'd rather bottle everything up than talk about it with anyone and risk them being brought down with me." Hearing Arcadia's explanation shocked the three men with her. Ten and Mark weren't sure what to say, but Taeyong was instantly worried about his lover.

"Is that healthy though? Shouldn't you-" Taeyong was stopped by Arcadia chuckling.

"That's the point. I'm not sure I want anything healthy in my life anymore." Arcadia then walked off into the darkness of the second floor. Arcadia's words were hard for Taeyong to hear. He wasn't sure exactly what she meant, but he knew he didn't like it.

"Hey, what's going on with her? Is everything alright?" Mark asked Taeyong with true concern written on his face.

"She's having a hard time, but I'm determined to bring her back and make sure she's healthy and happy again," Taeyong responded simply as he began to hurry after Arcadia. Ten and Mark walked after Taeyong and eventually, they found Arcadia standing at a window staring out of it. When Taeyong approached her, he saw she was staring up at the full moon that'd come out from the clouds now. "Are you alright?"

"Yup. I'm fine for now. Let's get to ghost hunting!" Arcadia's voice was happier now, but Taeyong figured that she was just forcing it so she wouldn't worry Ten and Mark.

"How exactly are we supposed to go about ghost hunting?" Ten questioned the woman who was smiling at Taeyong now.

"Just start talking to the spirits. They might be dead but they are still human, mostly."

"'Mostly'? What does that mean?" Mark was instantly on edge now which caused Arcadia to laugh.

"The only thing you need to worry about is right in front of you," Arcadia responded cryptically before turning and beginning to walk away. "Just pick a room and start talking, just remember to record it all on your phones because you might not hear their voices with your ears."

"Huh?! What exactly did she just mean?! What exactly should I be worried about?!" Mark was terrified now, which instantly put Ten on edge as well.

"I don't know..." Taeyong responded as he watched Arcadia walk into a room down the hall from them. Taeyong was worried about Arcadia and what she meant, but he figured he'd find out eventually one way or another.

"Mark, let's go to one of these rooms together. I don't want to be alone where I could get possessed or something." Ten suggested to the younger man. Mark agreed and the two went off down toward a room far away from the one that Arcadia disappeared into.

Once he was left all alone, Taeyong sighed to himself and looked out the window Arcadia had been looking out of. He looked up at the moon and instantly felt an eerie feeling from it. However, he realized that it wasn't actually the feeling from the moon, he was feeling as though someone was watching him. Taeyong immediately spun around and turned on his flashlight, only to see nothingness behind him. He then realized that not only did he not see anything, but he didn't hear anything from the others as well at this point.

"What is going on?" Taeyong muttered to himself as he felt a wave of nervousness crash over him. "I need to find Arcadia..." Taeyong then hurried off in the direction of the room Arcadia was in and when he found it, he entered the room, shining the light all around it. However, there was no Arcadia in the room at all. There was no other way out of the room and Taeyong knew he never saw Arcadia leave the room. Taeyong walked into the room a little further and looked around some more for a few moments.

"What are you looking for?" Taeyong spun around at the female voice. There stood Arcadia in the doorway to the room, but he instantly knew something was off about her. She had her head tilted slightly to the right, her eyes were a greenish-yellow color and the tone of her voice was deeper than usual.

"Are you alright, Arcadia?" Taeyong questioned as he shined the light on her. She didn't even flinch when the light crossed over her eyes. Arcadia didn't respond to his question, she just smiled at the man and took a step forward toward him. Taeyong instinctively took a step back away from her. "Are you alright?" Taeyong repeated his question only for Arcadia to frown at him.

"If you want to know, take off that bracelet," Arcadia responded as she pointed to the protective bracelet on Taeyong's right wrist. Taeyong froze at the words Arcadia spoke. He knew something truly wasn't right at that moment. Earlier, Arcadia had specifically told him to not take off the bracelet no matter what.

"What's going on?" Taeyong asked the woman in front of him, as he slowly wondered if she wasn't herself anymore.

"Are you scared? You shouldn't be scared. I won't hurt you... too badly." Taeyong didn't believe what the woman had said. He had an instant chill run down his spine. "Don't worry, my love. You'll be alright." Arcadia smiled at Taeyong and started to walk toward him. With every step she took, Taeyong took a step backward. This caused the smile on Arcadia's face to turn to an angered frown. "Why are you walking away from me? Why won't you let me near you?"

"I know you aren't yourself right now. Something is wrong with you."

"Hmm? How do you know that?" Arcadia had paused in her walking to stare into Taeyong's eyes.

"You aren't acting like Arcadia. You don't sound right and your eyes aren't right. You don't look right anymore."

"Now, now. That's rude to say to your girlfriend." Arcadia pouted and began to advance toward Taeyong again.

"I don't care. You aren't my girlfriend." Taeyong's tone was harsher than he was used to speaking in. Just as Taeyong took a step back again, Arcadia appeared right in front of him. She grabbed him by the shoulders and slammed him against the wall behind him. Taeyong tried to move, but he was pinned against the wall. "How have you done this to Arcadia? She has a protective bracelet on. Eclipse said nothing should be able to hurt or possess us."

"If you are invited in, you can break through any spell, no matter how strong."

"Arcadia wouldn't allow anything to possess her!"

"I've been here with her for years. This isn't a new situation. It was just finally time for me to wake up within Arcadia." The tone of voice from Arcadia was distorted and deeper now; hardly sounding like her at all.

"Why is it time for you to wake up?" Taeyong was a little horrified, but curiosity was winning him over currently.

"The vessel I currently reside in is weakening and doesn't have much time left. It is time to find a new one, meaning you." Chills were sent running down Taeyong's spine again as horror filled him.

"What do you mean by that? What do you mean Arcadia doesn't have much time left?!"

"Why do you care about her when you are about to be possessed?"

"I would rather be possessed than have Arcadia be possessed. I want to protect her even if it costs me my life." Taeyong was afraid but his concern over his lover was winning out.

"You're a fool... but I admire that. So I won't make this hurt too much." Before Taeyong could say anything, the being in front of him moved to bite his neck. Just as Taeyong could feel its teeth against his skin, it was pulled away from him harshly. It was then thrown to the side and hit the wall there, revealing Eclipse and Nova standing there. In the doorway, coming toward him was Taemin, Kai, and Minho, all looking incredibly worried for Taeyong.

"Are you alright?" Taemin asked the shocked man, still against the wall. Taeyong only had one thought on his mind though.

"Is Arcadia okay?" Taeyong questioned Eclipse but didn't receive an answer as the being turned to growl at the pink-haired woman. Eclipse and Nova then shoved it against the wall and held it there.

"Arcadia! Why are you allowing this to happen?!" Eclipse yelled at the woman, who was practically growling back at her. Her eyes were completely yellow now and her skin was paler than usual.

"Arcadia doesn't have a choice anymore. She's asleep now." Arcadia's voice was so distorted that it wasn't her voice at all. It was clear that whatever was inside of her, had fully taken over.

"Arc! You were about to allow this thing to kill the man you love!" Nova snapped at the woman in front of her. The being just laughed in his distorted voice before responding.

"You really think that someone, as broken as this girl, is even capable of love at this point? You think she loves any of you? You're all complete idiots." Instead of responding to the being, Eclipse grabbed Arcadia's face and turned it to hers.

"Demon. Get out of my sister. Leave. Now." Eclipse's voice was demanding and harsh, but the demon didn't seem to care. It just frowned and glared back at her.

"No. I don't want to leave. I was invited in and I'd like to stay a bit longer... Until I can sink my teeth into that man over there." The demon was looking at Taeyong now, prompting Taemin, Kai, and Minho to stand in front of him protectively. Mark and Ten were now standing in the doorway, extremely confused about the current situation.

"Arcadia, listen to me. Something is wrong right now. I know you wouldn't ever allow anything to happen to Taeyong. You love him. You would protect him with your life, right? Do that now." Eclipse tried to plead with her sister, but the demon just laughed in her face.

"Why would you think someone born of evil would be capable of protecting someone and loving them?"

"What do you mean by that?" Nova demanded to know when Eclipse fell silent.

"Unlike Eclipse here, Arcadia's mother had some issues with having a child. So, Arcadia's parents turned to the evil of all evils to produce a child; produce Arcadia." Nearly everyone in the room was surprised to hear the demon's words. Eclipse, however, had a feeling all along that something was strange about how Arcadia had come into this world. Even

so, Eclipse hadn't fully understood the full situation until then.

"Even if that was the truth, Arcadia wouldn't hurt Taeyong even if she was born of evil. She would rather die than allow any harm to come of him, especially by her own hands." Eclipse stated to the demon in front of her. The demon just chuckled darkly before responding to her.

"That is kind of the point. Arcadia has been looking for a good enough reason to die, and hurting her 'precious' lover would be that reason to finally give up on life."

"No, I don't believe that Arcadia would ever do that or allow that, even for that reason." Nova shook her head as she spoke, and Eclipse just frowned at the demon. However, the demon wasn't the one that responded next.

"If everyone around me died, then that would be okay." It was Arcadia's voice now, but it sounded like she was speaking through a phone with bad reception. Her voice was coming through with crackling and it sounded far away.

"I always thought that it was a joke when you said that when we were younger, but you really mean that, don't you?" Eclipse questioned her sister with sadness in her voice.

"What are you saying, Arc?! That isn't funny, you need to wake up!" Nova yelled in return, horrified at her friend's hopeless words.

"No. there isn't a point to waking up anymore, I'm finished..." Arcadia responded sounding further away now. Hearing the heartbreaking words from his lover, Taeyong pushed past his friends and then pushed past Eclipse and Nova. He wrapped his arms around Arcadia and held her tightly to his body.

"I won't say I understand your feelings and pain, but I'll do my best to make it go away. I'll spend the rest of my life making sure you're happy. I'll do anything for you, Arcadia." Taeyong spoke to her softly but only received a broken laugh in response. She didn't try to move away from him though, so Taeyong took that hope and continued to speak to her. "Even though I nearly died, I'd rather die than you die. I would rather take all of your pain so you could live a happy life."

"I can't be happy without you." Arcadia's voice seemed a little closer and clearer.

"Then we should move past this. I'll help find you professional help and help you better yourself so you can live the life you want with me. Take a break from being an idol. Anything to make sure you're mental health is good again."

"Why are you being so caring? I tried to kill you." Arcadia's voice was nearly back to normal now. Her eyes were returning to green, rather than yellow and her skin had some of its color back.

"That wasn't you, that was the demon."

"Maybe we are one and the same now." The demonic voice was mixed in with Arcadia's now. Her eyes were still a greenish-yellow. Taeyong instantly pulled away from Arcadia's body but kept a hold of her. He looked right into the demon's eyes and spoke to it.

"You're wrong."

"Why do you say that?"

"For short periods of time, and only occasionally, I can see something in Arcadia and it isn't negative at all. I can see an incredible light within her. It might be trapped behind walls of darkness, but it's there. Maybe without you, she can find that spark of light again." The eyes of the demon softened and turned slightly more green again. So, Eclipse took this as a good sign and put her hand on Arcadia's shoulder.

"Come to me. Just as Arcadia could find her light without you, I can guide you to the light of your own without Arcadia. I can send you off to rest. You don't have to exist in this darkness." Eclipse said to the demon softly and kindly. The demon looked at Eclipse and saw the sincerity in her eyes.

"...I... I don't want to leave Arcadia." The demon admitted, surprising the others in the room.

"Why?" Nova questioned, stepping forward to Arcadia.

"It's been eight years since I was invited into Arcadia. I'm... not sure what my existence will be without her."

"You can be at peace. You can find the happiness you crave, and without you, maybe my sister can find her own peace and happiness too." Eclipse knew the demon was sold on her offer now. They watched as the demon nodded its head before a black mass began to surround Arcadia. The black mass of mist swirled around the redhead before flowing into the pink-haired woman. Instantly Arcadia collapsed, with Taeyong catching her and gently helping her sit on the floor. Taeyong refused to let her go and held her close to him as Eclipse left the room, with Taemin following after her.

Everyone was surprised at the events that had just happened and some were honestly having a hard time fully believing it all. Even so, Taeyong didn't care about what anyone else thought, he was just glad that the demon was gone from Arcadia now.
