Chapter 9

"What all did Colby tell you?" Asked Aaron as they stood outside of Sam's room. "He said that they were just friends and nothing was going on. What about Sam?" Elton answered, looking into the small and slender window on the door as he watched Sam and Colby talk to each other. Aaron sighed. "Sam said he might be growing a little crush but he didn't want to ruin his relationship with Colby or Kat." Elton took off his hat and push his hair back as he let out a stressful sigh. "Colby kind of seemed different. I don't know if it was because of the fact I was pretty much interrogated him, or if he wasn't telling the truth and he thought I would notice and got nervous. I didn't want to push him to tell me something he didn't feel comfortable telling me, so I let him say whatever he wanted to say." Aaron nodded. "I understand. I noticed that about Sam too." They went silent. "Want to head back into the room?" Elton asked. "Nah. How about we let them have their space and go see the others?" Aaron answered. "Okay. Well, I'll tell them where we're going and then we can head down." Elton said, stepping into the room. Aaron mouthed an okay to Elton and started heading down the stairs. "Aaron and I are heading down to the others. We'll be back later." Elton told Sam and Colby. "Okay. We'll be here when you guys get back." Colby replied. "Okay." Elton said, and with that, he left.

One hour later
Sam and Colby sat there just talking about what happened in Sam's accident. "Are you okay?" Colby asked. "Yeah, I'm fine. Are you?" Sam answered, confused by the sudden question from Colby. "Besides my shattered elbow, I'm okay." Replied Colby as he looked down at his arm then back to Sam. "Good." Sam said as the conversation fell into silence. After a few moments, Colby asked Sam something he didn't know the answer to. "Do you like me? Like like me?" He stared at the blonde haired man sitting in the bed beside him as he tried to find an answer. After a couple minutes, Colby started staring at his clasped hands that laid in his lap. He started to shake his head. "What?" Sam asked out of the blue. "Nothing." He answered quietly. They went quiet again after a moment. "I just asked if you like me because we've been best friends since freshmen year and I was just wondering if you started to catch any feelings for me after all the years we've been friends." Colby said, breaking the silence. Sam looked back down at his hands. "I don't know if I have or not. It feels like I have, but it doesn't at the same time." He said as he finally answered Sam's question. "Okay." Colby said as he nodded. "What about you?" Sam asked. I love you, Sam. I have for a long time. He wanted to say, but instead he lied. "I feel the same way." They sat there for a moment as they both thought to themselves. What if I don't get another chance to tell him how I feel? What if Kat doesn't end up breaking up with him? I'll have even less of a chance with him. Nah, that's selfish. He's way too head over heels for her. Plus, if he doesn't feel the same, that would ruin our friendship. Colby thought to himself. Little did he know, Sam was watching as he admired Colby in that moment. "Colby? Are you okay?" Sam asked, not knowing if Colby saw him. Before he realized he shouldn't of asked anything, he already interrupted Colby's thoughts. "What? Yeah. I'm fine. Why do you ask?" Colby answered, not wanting Sam to notice anything knowing that he was what he was think about. "Okay. I was just wondering because you were just staring off into space and looked like you were concentrated or thinking about something." Sam said, worrying about Colby, not knowing what else to say. Colby sighed, but didn't say anything. Well, here goes nothing. He thought. "Look, Sam. I've liked you for a long time. Yes, I know, you're with Katrina, but I couldn't hold it in anymore. I've liked you since freshman year and I've held it in for this long and knowing that I could've lost you earlier, I didn't want to keep the secret from you any longer. You deserve to know how I feel about you. Just please, don't tell the others. I mean, they already suspect us to have feelings for each other, and if they find out, they'll never let us down for it." Colby finally said as he let go of his breath he didn't know he held in. Sam looked at him with a surprised expression. After a couple of seconds, he looked down at his hands, not wanting to show Colby the blush that had formed on his face. "Colby..." he whispered quietly, not being able to finish what he was going to say as Colby interrupted him with a snort noise. "I knew it." Colby said, shaking his head as he got up and headed toward the door. "Colby, wait." Sam said, before Colby could open the door. "What?" He asked turned towards Sam with tears in his eyes as he realized what he had done. "Come here." Sam told him, signaling him to come over. "Why?" Colby asked as he sniffled. Sam waved him to come closer. He walked over because he knew Sam wouldn't shut up until he did. Sam pushed down the railing so Colby could have room when he sat down. "Sit." Sam said to Colby. Colby looked at him with a questioning expression, but did as he was told. When he sat down, he sniffled and just waited for Sam to continue. Sam put his hand on Colby's shoulder. "Colby, I like you too." Colby's eyes widened. Sam smiled and gave Colby a hug. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner, Colbs." Sam said. "It's okay." Colby replied. They separated from the hug but kept their faces so close they could feel each other's breath on them as they breathed. Within a couple of minutes, Colby leaned in and pushed his lips against Sam's. After a second of confusion, Sam realised what was happening and started to kiss back. Once they stopped to catch a breath, Sam spoke up. "How's that for an answer to your speech?" Colby said with a smirk. Sam chuckled as he leaned in to kiss Colby again, but Colby stopped him before their lips touched as he thought of an idea. He smirked as he saw Sam pout a little bit. "What?" Sam asked. "Scoot over." Colby told him. Sam scooted over a little bit like Colby said to, but still confused. Colby sat up on the bed and stood on his knees for a moment before he swung his left leg over Sam and sat on his lap. He smirked once more, and leaned in to kiss Sam again. This time, their lips actually touched. They kissed for a moment. Sam put his right arm around Colby's waist, and his left arm around Colby's neck as Colby started nipping at his ear. Colby would pause for a few seconds here and there so he could take a breath, but after a couple of minutes, he pulled back a little bit and kissed Sam's lips. Sam groaned and opened his mouth as Colby licked his lips, wanting for access. As his tongue entered Sam's mouth, Colby's tongue swirled around as the kiss continued. When they pulled away, they leaned their foreheads against each others again so they could breathe. Colby frowned as he began to think. "What's wrong?" Sam asked, pulling his forehead away from Colby's. "What about Kat? you've got a girlfriend, remember?" Colby said, getting off of the bed. Sam was now frowning as he realized he didn't think this one through.
