Chapter 6

2 hours after Colby heard about Sam's accident

"Is he going to be okay? Has anyone heard anything? Or told Kat?" said Colby, as he came up with scenarios to keep his mind off of crying knowing that he's done enough for the day. The others had gone down to the cafeteria to get food and water or outside for fresh air. "We don't know anything yet, and no. We haven't told Kat." Elton replied. "Well why not?" Colby argued. "Because. Until we hear anything, we're holding off so that she doesn't go crazy knowing Sam could be dying and no one has a clue it's happening." Elton's right. For all we know, Sam could be dying. He thought. Colby threw off his blankets. "Colby, what are you doing?" Elton asked. "Going to go find Sam. I thought I heard someone next door mention his name and someone going into cardiac arrest." Elton stood up from where he was still sitting from before. "Sit down. You shouldn't be doing this. You should be in bed, like the doctor said." Colby looked at Elton with a death glare. "He's my best friend, Elton. I need to know that he's okay. Plus, all I did was hurt my elbow. It's not like I broke my pelvis or something. Not that big of a deal." "Colby. You shattered your elbow. So yes. It is that big of a deal. Now sit your ass down before I go get Corey." Elton replied, raising his voice. "Fine. Okay." Colby said as he sat back down on the bed, knowing there was no point in arguing with him. "Can you at least go check on them? See if they're okay?" Elton sighed. "Sure. And if it's not Sam, don't worry about them." He said as he was walking out of the room. "Okay." Colby replied then sat back against the pillow on the bed as he waited until Elton came back.

By now, Sam was awake. Turns out that he just got a severe concussion and low sodium level, so he's staying overnight just to make sure he's okay and it's not something else. The doctor told him to just rest up and eat a lot of salt so he could bring up his sodium and get rid of the concussion at the same time. I wonder if Colby's okay. What if he broke his rib cage or something? Sam. Don't worry. He'll be okay. He's Colby. He's always okay. He thought to himself. As he continued sitting silently in his room, he heard a familiar voice. That sounds like Elton. He thought just as he saw the bearded man peep around the corner. "Elton?" He asked, as Elton put his finger to his lips signaling Sam to be quiet as he shut the door. "Sam?" Elton replied, as walked up to Sam. "Are you okay? What happened?" He asked him. "Yeah. I'm fine. Just a severe concussion and low sodium level. How did you know I was here? Is Colby okay?" "Okay. Good. Colby's fine. He shattered his elbow, though." Sam sighed with relief. "Thank God he's okay. What room number is he in?" Elton rubbed the back of his neck, not knowing if he should tell him yet. "When will you be getting let out of the hospital?" He asked. "Tomorrow." Sam answered confusedly. "Okay." Elton said as he was now looking at the floor. "What's wrong? You're acting weird." Sam asked. "Um... Colby's actually in the room beside you asking about you." Elton replied as he finally broke and couldn't keep it in anymore. "Wait, what? Seriously? He's been there this whole time without me knowing as I just sat here, worrying if he was okay?!" Sam was pissed by now and was raising his voice, causing him to make his head hurt as he got louder. "Yes. I'm sorry. We didn't even know you were in here, so calm down. It's not our fault we were never told this was your room." Elton said as he started raising his voice as well, causing Sam to wince at the loud tone. Sam quieted after that. "Well, when will I be able to see Colby?" Sam said, breaking the silence after a few minutes. "Not until your doctor confirms it." "Then couldn't he come in here since he just has a cast and sling for his elbow? I really want to see him." Elton sighed, folding his hands together on the back of his neck. "Okay. I'll ask his doctor as they come in to check on him. Now, do you want to see everyone?" He asked. Sam's face lit up. "Yeah!" Elton chuckled. "Okay. Let me go get them and see if Colby can come in here too." "Okay." And with that, Elton left the room, leaving Sam alone.

Elton walked into Colby's hospital room first after leaving Sam's. "Well? Was he in there?" Colby asked. He looked at the floor before answering Colby's question. "Yeah. He wants to see you." He answered. "See? I told you so. Now let's go." Colby said, trying to get up again. "Colby. Stop. You need to wait until I get to ask your doctor if it's okay first." Elton commanded, now standing in front of him. "Seriously, Elton? I want to see Sam, now let me go. You already held me back earlier, but now I really want to see him. I get it, you need to make sure it's okay, but I'm fine, Elton. Now please, let me go see my best friend." Colby interjected, pushing Elton away with his free arm. "Colby, come back!" He heard Elton yell as he left the room, but he was too stubborn to listen. He walked up to Sam's room. He knocked on the closed door to make sure he wasn't interrupting anything. He waited until there was a faint "come in" from Sam. He opened the door, peeked around the corner, and saw Sam looking at him with the biggest smile he had ever seen before. "Hey, Colby."
