True love. The dictionary defines true love as: a sweetheart; a truly loving or loved person.

People say true love only happens in fairy tales.

Me. I know for a fact true love exists, because I have had the pleasure of seeing it for the last sixteen years and about nine months of my exists. You may think it's my parents I'm talking about, but in reality...

This love has existed longer than my parents have been alive. Barely.

Anyway, it happen in August of 1963. A young thirteen year old girl was going to a pool party. What she didn't know was...she would meet a fifteen year old boy there...

The story goes as the following. Clara (the thirteen year old girl) meets Dave (the fifteen year old boy) at the pool party. They had danced, but like everyone story/fairy tale, something went wrong.

Some of Dave's ex-girlfriends/jealous girls told Clara something and she left the party angry at Dave.

After the pool party, Dave went back home and told his mother of a pretty girl he liked...

And, funny thing is to this day Clara can't remember why she was angry or what the girls had told her...

The next time the two met was at a school dance, a month later.

It was a get to know everyone kind of thing in the beginning of the school year (it's 1963 people. The dances were different).

Dave watched as Clara and another girl walked around, before his friend Larry had asked why Dave didn't stopped her from walking in a big circle and just talked to her. Dave just wanted to let Clara be.

By the end of the night, the two danced and after Dave got into a car with his friends (and Clara ducking her head in and out of the widow, wanting a kiss...), the two shared their first kiss the two time they met (TOOK DAVE LONG ENOUGH!).

They didn't start dating right away, because Clara's parents didn't want her dating. The best part, Dave said that just hanging out with Clara was fun, even though they weren't dating.

And so, Dave and Clara got married at age sixteen and eighteen. Both had married their best friend, each other.

On December 31, 1965, the two were joined together in marriage and five months later had a baby girl.

On December 31, 2015, they both celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. On May 21, 2016, they renewed their vows.

With four children, eleven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, the two are surrounded by the fruits of their love.

While the family gets bigger as the years go on, the roots stay the same.

My only thought...

OMG! I want a marriage like that!
