Chapter Five
He pulls the car into the small lot, staring at the hotel in front of him. Several days of driving and only living off of gas station snacks was driving him insane, and he finally decided to get a nicer place to stay.
Shutting the car door behind him, he walks up to the two glass doors, pushing them open and walking to the front desk, head hung low to avoid being recognized.
"Can I help you, sir?" The man at the desk asks, looking at him.
"I'd like a room."
"Name?"
He goes stiff at the request. He'll recognize me, he thinks.
"Name, sir?"
"James," He responds.
"Last name?"
"Heartland," He mumbles.
"Heartland?" The receptionist asks.
James nods, sweat covering his forehead.
"Wait... I saw you on the news."
His eyes widen after he says that, lifting his head up.
"You did?"
"Yea, it said you-"
"Shut up!" James shouts, storming out of the building.
"Hey! Come back! I'm calling the cops!"
