The Hall of Games

Third Person POV

A young girl named Lindsey Earnest stood in Abingdon Park with spray paint and weapons. She was going to vandalize the park with two of her friends.

Lindsey was reluctant to do such an awful crime. She wanted to do this but only to remain tough and not some cry baby who never met her mother and barely sees her father. She wanted to be tough and this was how she wanted to prove herself.

Her friends, Koh and Lexi, were well-known criminals in the area she lived in. They've escaped prison multiple times and Lindsey somehow befriended them.

"Valentine." Lindsey turned and saw Koh and Lexi standing there with spray paint and weapons. "You showed up."

"Yeah." The young female nodded with a shaky voice. "I wanted to prove to you I was tough. I'm not a sensitive cry baby."

Koh and Lexi shared a smug look and approached her.

"Wanna prove how tough you are?" Lexi smirked and then touched the memorial. "Than destroy this stupid memorial with your sonic scream."

Lindsey was shocked by her request.

"What? But-"

"But what, Valentine?" Koh interrupted bitterly. She stepped closer to Lindsey and let a cocky smile slip out. "You too soft and weak to handle this?"

Lexi scoffed. "I knew she wasn't capable of it."

"I'm not weak," Lindsey said feeling anger fill her body.

"Prove it!" Koh exclaimed, shoving her back. "Or else, I'll show you how. You want that?"

Lindsey couldn't find the strength to produce words as Koh and Lexi stared her down.

"Look at her, Valentine's gone quiet." Koh teased and both the girls lightly laughed. "I knew she wasn't capable of it. She's weak."

Lindsey dropped the can of spray paint on the ground and clenched her petite hands. Both of the girls fell silent and Lindsey was furious

"I'm not weak." She growled and she couldn't control her movement. "Never call me that!"

Lindsey's mouth opened and a monstrous sound wave escaped. A deafening scream blasted the two girls away from her and they tumbled to the ground. Simultaneously, the memorial crumbled to the ground from the thundering sound and a few trees got knocked over. A few benches got destroyed and overall the park was a disaster.

Lindsey's sonic scream ended and she held her throat in pain. Lindsey fell to the floor and tears flowed from her brown eyes. Koh and Lexi laid on the ground almost lifeless. The deafening scream caused them to go deaf for a minute.

Moments later, Koh sat up and held her ears in pain. She stared at the sobbing girl in front of her and nudged Lexi who sat up seconds after.

"She's not weak, Lex," Koh said, grunting.

"No kidding." Lexi dryly told her.

"Let's go." Koh tugged Lexi's arm's and they ran off, leaving Lindsey alone.

Lindsey sat there crying out of fear and sorrow.

"Over here!"

Lindsey's head shot up and she wiped her tears away. She panicked and turned invisible in hopes no one would spot her.

Two police officers ran out and investigated the crime scene.

Lindsey couldn't handle anymore and ran off.

Lindsey's POV

"Linds!"

I snapped out of my thoughts and turned to my boyfriend who was physically shaking me.

"What? Oh sorry, I was spacing out." I apologized to Max who looked concerned.

"Again? That's the fifth time today." Max told me and I averted my eyes. "What's wrong?"

I shook my head. "Nothing. It's nothing."

"Lindsey," Max said and I ignored his offer to help.

"Max, please just let it go." I pleaded my boyfriend. "It's nothing."

Max stared at me for a few moments before he groaned.

"Fine."

Max and I continued to watch the movie that we were watching. We were hanging out at my house and I kept on spacing out about the same thing over and over again.

Those girls, Koh and Lexi, keep bugging me and pestering me to find them. I know exactly what they want and I have no desire on giving it to them, but I can show them who is boss.

The front door opened and my brother walked in. He gave us a friendly.

"Hey, Danny." I greeted before returning my attention to the television.

"Hey," Daniel said before walking into the kitchen.

Daniel was devastated about losing Daisy but when he found out she was a villain he got over it and he doesn't even act it happened. I'm happy he isn't letting this get to him and isn't a heartbroken guy.

"Your brother got over his ex pretty fast," Max stated and I grinned happily.

"When he found what she did, he completely let her go," I replied, resting my head on Max's shoulder.

"Yeah, your brother doesn't seem like the type of guy to date a villain," Max told me. "Unlike you."

I could sense a smirk form on Max's face and I playfully smacked his stomach.

"Is that a bad thing?" I teased, looking at Max with a smile.

"Definitely not." Max denied, turning his head to me. He touched his nose to mine and we Eskimo kissed.

I giggled and Max smiled softly at me. He kissed my nose lightly making me blush.

Every bad boy has a soft side whether they like to have it or not. I absolutely adore Max's soft and sensitive side.

Ruining the perfect moment was the sound of my phone buzzing.

Max groaned. "Who's texting you?"

I gave Max a smirk. "Max it's not a boy. It's probably your sister or Cherry."

Max groaned again making me giggle.

I picked up my phone and opened up my text messages.

It was Koh.

'Valentine, are you wanting to hit up the park in Metroburg? We'll be there tonight at midnight. Bring a hammer🔨'

I quickly hid my phone in my pocket and Max looked at me.

"Who texted?"

"Just an old friend of mine from New York," I informed him. I didn't lie so he can't get upset.

I saw his head nod and I stared at his face.

I hope it's not a stupid boy texting my girlfriend.

"Max, it's not a boy. Don't worry." I assured him and he scoffed.

"I never said that."

"You thought it and I can read your thoughts." I reminded him, tapping his head.

Max's cheeks turned a light shade of pink and cleared his throat.

"Aw, look who's jealous now." I teased.

Max rolled his eyes. "Whatever."

My phone started to ring and I knew it was Koh because who else who it be.

Max gave me a bewildered expression and I slowly took out my phone. It was Koh.

"Seriously?" Max sighed and I kissed his cheek.

"I'll be back," I told him and went to get up but stopped. "Don't eavesdrop."

Max put his hands up in surrender, not replying. I walked out the door and into the driveway.

I answered the phone and let out a sigh.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Valentine!" Koh's thick accent greeted and I rolled my eyes.

"Hey, Koh. What's up?" I asked, not really interested in talking to her.

"Not much except for the fact that Lex and I just busted out of jail." She informed and I let out an airy laugh.

"Not surprised. What'd you'd do this time?" I asked her.

"Broke into a jewelry shop and stole all of the stupid crap and took out the owner." Koh chuckled and I knew she was smirking proudly. "One of our finest works."

"Impressive, Koh." I praised, dryly. "What's next? A bank?"

"Please, give us real crimes." Koh scoffed and I rolled my eyes. "So, are you gonna join Lexi and I tonight?"

"Listen, Metroburg isn't that close to where I live so I might have to take a rain check." I denied.

"Alright, where do you live?" Koh bluntly questioned and I scoffed.

"That desperate, huh?" I teased and I heard her laugh.

"Not a chance. I'm just looking for a new place to take over when this dump gets old." Koh explained. "You know?"

"Yeah." I sighed and glanced behind to see if Max was there. "I know."

"So, tell me where you live and Lexi and I will meet you there," Koh explained and I thought for a moment.

I let out a sigh. "Koh, I don't think I can."

"Of course, Valentine has gone soft just like before." Koh scolded and I clenched my free hand in anger. "You have changed."

"I'm not soft. I know who I am." I corrected through gritted teeth.

"I know who you are too. A soft and weak superhero." Koh argued and I squinted my eyes shut. "Echo Girl."

I felt anger and fury boil inside me. I'm not weak.

"I'm not weak." I snapped. "Meet me at Hiddenville park at midnight."

I heard Koh chuckle before I hung up.

I clenched my phone in my hand and I gritted my teeth together. Koh makes me so mad and I know she is just trying to anger me and manipulate me but I just have this feeling inside of me that I need to prove her wrong.

I shoved my phone in my pocket and headed inside.

I opened the door and Max was sitting on the couch checking his phone.

He obviously heard me because he looked my way.

"Hey, you're back." He grinned and I gave him a small smile.

"Yeah, sorry, my friend just wanted to catch up on some stuff," I informed him and he nodded. Max stood up and I walked up to his body.

"It's fine." He assured me. "Wanna continue watching the movie?"

I glanced at the tv and the movie wasn't even halfway finished.

"Um." I wondered and took a peek at a clock on the wall. It was pretty late. "Actually, I'm really tired. I think I'm gonna go to sleep."

Max seemed upset about this because I could feel it.

"Oh, well, I guess I should go then," Max said with disappointment in his voice.

I wanted to keep Max here but I have other plans later, unfortunately.

"I'll see you tomorrow?" I questioned Max with a hopeful smile.

"Like always." Max smiled and we hugged goodbye.

"Bye Max," I said.

"Bye baby," Max said. My cheeks turned red from his nickname.

We pulled away and Max leaned down and kissed my cheek. I gave him a smile before he left my house.

My eyes wandered to the clock on the wall. It was almost ten o'clock at night.

"Hey, Linds?" I heard Daniel speak and I shifted my eyes to him.

"Yes?"

"You going to sleep?" He asked me and I gave him a small nod.

"Yeah. Are you?"

"I will but I have to get a bit more work done before I do," Daniel informed me and I nodded. "Night sis."

"Night," I told him before I jogged up the stairs

I went into my room and I shut the door.

I leaned against my door and I covered my face with my hands.

"What did I just agree to?"

----

Two hours had passed and it was quarter to midnight. I sat on my bed contemplating whether or not I should go. I know Koh and her games but I have a burning sensation in my body that's telling me to prove her wrong.

"I'm not weak," I mumbled. "I know exactly who I am."

Or do I?

I groaned and got off my bed. I strolled over to my closet and opened it. It was a cluttered mess but I'm able to find anything I need in it. I spotted a familiar box in the corner and it was taped shut.

I gazed at it for a moment before I trudged through the mess and got to it. I brushed it off and picked it up. I read the words that I wrote on it.

'Lindsey's Past'

I walked out of my closet and closed it. I put the box down and grabbed a pair of scissors from my desk. I sliced the box opened with the scissors and looked inside it.

There was a rusty hammer, a can of spray paint, and a brick. A note on top of the objects but I threw it to the floor and took out the hammer.

----

Flashback

I smashed the window with my hammer and let out a laugh.

"Now you're getting' Valentine." Koh chuckled, shaking my shoulders. "Don't hold it back."

----

Present Time

I placed the hammer back down and took an unused bag off the hook that was on my door.

I threw it on my bed and placed the hammer inside, then the spray paint, and lastly the brick.

I may seem like I'm crazy for doing this but I feel like I have to. Koh and Lexi want the old Lindsey? Then they have her.

I zipped up the bag and slung it over my shoulder. I went over to my window and opened it. The chilly breeze brushed against my skin and I breathed it.

"No turning back," I told myself before I climbed through my window.

I carefully walked across the tree branch and hopped down until I reached the ground.

I walked down the sidewalk without looking back at my house. I passed the Thunderman's house and slowed my pace down.

I stared at it for a few seconds before continuing my journey to the park.

----

I reached the park in a matter of minutes and thankfully didn't get lost through the many other parks.

(The same park in Five Supes and a Baby)

It was completely empty and the only light was the lampost that sat in the middle. I found a bench and placed my bag down. I took out the items I had and scanned the area, looking for Koh and Lexi.

I heard rustling behind me and I whipped my body around. Two bodies walked out and I recognized them.

"Valentine?" An all to familiar voice said. "Is it really you?"

The other person stood behind her. "Valentine."

It was Koh and Lexi.

"It's me." I let out a grin. "Koh? Lexi?"

"It's us, yeah. Been awhile." Koh nodded. "Nice hair."

"Thanks, a friend of mine did it," I told them.

Koh just nodded and let out a small sigh.

"So, you decided to take us up on our offer, Valentine?" Koh asked me, walking past me to the bench.

"Not really, I just wanted to clear my head." I denied, fibbing a bit.

"But you came here at the time Koh asked you too, Echo Girl." Lexi countered, stepping forward. I swallowed and rubbed my arm. "You turned soft, Valentine."

"I didn't, I just figured out my path," I informed her and Koh scoffed.

"Yeah, a path of a soft and weak superhero. You could've been a villain, a great one." Koh mentioned, gripping my shoulders.

"I never wanted to be a villain. I just didn't know if I wanted to be an actual superhero." I told them, bitterly.

"So, whose this little friend of yours? Penelope?"

"Phoebe." I corrected Lexi, quickly.

"Whatever," Koh told me, dryly. "Pelly is stupid."

"It's Phoebe," I repeated, feeling irritated.

"Well, she's all girly and sweet and super annoying." Lexi bitterly told me and I sent her a glare.

"Jealous?" I teased her and Lexi scoffed.

"Not even close." Lexi glared.

"She has a perfect little life and we want that," Koh mentioned.

"Sounds like jealousy to me," I smirked and Koh narrowed her eyebrows at me.

"I'm not jealous. She's just stupid." Koh countered, getting in my face.

My face formed into an angry expression.

"Call her stupid again and you will regret it." I threatened her, feeling my hands heat up.

"You can't do crap to me, softie," Koh smirked and back down from her position. "You're a superhero. You can't hurt an innocent bystander it would hurt your reputation."

"Koh, she has powers she can hurt us with. Remember last time?" Lexi warned and Koh waved her off.

"Please, she's too weak to hurt us. She's gone soft." Koh gave me a smug look. "She's not capable of such a crime."

I stepped forward and wrapped my arm around Koh's neck, pulling her head down.

"I knew exactly what I'm capable of and you definitely don't want to see it." I scolded her and I could feel her emotion. It was fear. "And if you do see it, you won't be alive to tell the story. So don't you dare push me over my limit, Koh Parks.

I released her and she moved back with fear and shocked expression.

"Now, do you wanna see what I'm capable of?"

"You're threats don't scare us, right Koh?" Lexi looked at Koh who wasn't speaking.

I raised my eyebrow and waited for a response.

"Koh." Lexi nudged Koh who blinked vigorously and nodded.

"Right, you don't scare us." Koh swallowed nervously and I smirked at her.

"I see you got a lot of equipment here," Lexi spoke up, picking up the hammer. "Gonna use it at all?"

"I don't know, are you?" I asked, folding my arms.

"Watch me, Valentine." Koh scolded and picked up the brick.

Koh chucked it at a statue and it decapitated the head of the statue.

Lexi and Koh chuckled an hi-fived.

Koh leaned into me and whispered in my ear.

"Your turn, softie."

I shrugged her off and snatched the hammer from Lexi. I raised the hammer up and held it there.

Is this really what I want? I'm a superhero and this could ruin everything I wanted, or is this what the others want? Before I came here, I had no desire on becoming a superhero I just wanted to be free and do what I want. Now, I wear a cape and I'm forced to play a role others expect me to be.

I felt Koh take the hammer from me and she came close to my ear.

"You're weak, Valentine." Koh sneered and I clenched my fists.

"Weak," Lexi repeated.

I whipped myself around and froze both the girl with my ice manipulation. I let their heads be free so I can scold them.

"You call me that one more time. That hammer will go inside your head!" I snapped and they both leaned their heads back.

"Hey, calm down, Valentine," Koh said with a cocky smile. "We're just playing."

"Well, I'm not. I'm sick and tired of your stupid games. I'm done playing them." I exclaimed and picked up the spray paint can. "Ever since I've met the both of you, it's been nothing but one big game. Well, guess what? I'm done and next time you try to play me, it will be game over for you."

Both girls were speechless and I lowered the cans. I unfroze both girls with my fire manipulation and they both shared a look before they ran off.

Lexi dropped the hammer and I watched them run away out of fear.

Without another word, I packed up my things and left the park.

----

I reached my house and climbed through my window.

"Hello."

I let out a scream and threw my bag into the air. I put my hands out and saw my brother sitting on my bed waiting patiently.

"Daniel?!" I exclaimed. "What? How-I-"

"Don't, Lindsey." Daniel stopped me and I lowered my hands. "I know where you went and I'm very disappointed."

My eyes fell to the floor and I held my arms self consciously.

"Lindsey, how could sneak out and see Koh and Lexi?" Daniel asked in disbelief. "Those troublemakers? I thought you changed."

I looked up and saw the disappointed expression on his face.

"What makes you think I went to see them?" I asked trying to confuse him.

"You left your phone downstairs," Daniel explained, showing me my phone and the messages from Koh. "So, don't even try to wedge your way through this one."

"How long am I grounded?" I asked knowing my punishment.

"Two weeks, no phone," Daniel informed sternly.

"Fair enough." I shrugged, dropping my dag to the floor.

"Linds, why did you agree to meet them?" Daniel asked the question I was hoping he wouldn't ask.

"You know me, I like to prove people wrong, especially Koh and Lexi," I replied, growling when I said their names.

"But their just a bunch of low lives who do nothing but cause trouble," Daniel argued.

"Maybe I'm one of those people," I spoke softly and his face softened. "Well, I was one of those people actually. I may have changed but I will never forget how much they've impacted my life. Whether it was good or bad."

"There's nothing good about them." Daniel protested and I moved passed him. "You're Lindsey Earnest, you're a good girl."

"Don't call me that." I snapped and faced my brother. He leaned back. "I'm not a good girl nor a bad girl. I'm in between. Yes, I save peoples lives but I will always enjoy a good prank or small crime. If it doesn't physically hurt others then I don't care. I'm Lindsey Earnest and nobody can tell me who to be, except for me."

It was silent for a few moments until Daniel let out a small sigh.

"You're right. I can't change you but promise me you won't be like Koh and Lexi?" Daniel asked and I put my hands on my hips.

"Deal." I nodded.

"Night, Lindsey," Daniel told me and walked passed me to the door.

"Night," I said quietly before he shut the door.

I went over to my bag and picked it up. I opened it up and took out the hammer.

"Promises are meant to be broken."

——-

The first chapter of the second book. We finally get to see Lindsey's true colors and I'm so excited. I love her character so much and I have such a blast writing her story.

This season will blow the first one out of the water and you won't know what hit you.

This season will involve more original chapters due to it being more about Lindsey's past and stuff. So expect that to come.

Also, I will involve a little bit of drama but not much. Just a small one with a boy that Lindsey knew. Sorry :p

One more thing, I have an Instagram for my writing. Follow it if you have an Instagram. I'm thinking about doing a live stream soon so comment if you want that.

It's Dancing_Angel88

Give me your thoughts on this chapter and I will see you in the chapter.
