He Got Game Night
Lindsey's POV
Tonight, I was going to the Thunderman's house for family game night. My brother could have joined but he's working late today so he couldn't come.
I've been doing a great job hiding my arms. Nobodies noticed and I plan on keeping it that way until I'm ready, which won't be for a long time. The cutting hasn't stopped though, it's getting worse.
Riceball is my emotional support animal. He keeps me for crying to much and he gives great cuddles and kisses.
I walked up to the porch of the Thunderman's house and knocked on the door. I don't usually knock, but I just decided to.
The door opened and it was Phoebe.
"Hey, Lindsey." She smiled as I walked in.
The Thunderman kids were sitting on the couch and the parents were no where to be seen.
Max smiled at the sight of me and stood up.
"Hey, Lindy." Her greeted and we hugged each other.
"Hey, Max." I greeted as we pulled away.
"Lindsey!" Chloe giggles as she hugged my waist.
"Hey, Chloe." I giggled.
"Where are Hank and Barb?" I asked, looking around for them as Max and I sat down.
Suddenly, the lights turned off and music played and a spotlight appeared on a figure. The figure turned around to reveal Hank in a fancy suit and he had a microphone.
"Live from our beautiful home in downtown Hiddenville it's Thunderman Family Game Night!"
Behind us, a flashing sign lowered and we all cheered and applauded. Hank came around and gave us all hi-fives. Max wrapped arm arm around my waist as Hank continued.
"Welcome everybody! Thank you so much! I, of course, am your dad, Hank and this is your beautiful mom, Barb!" Hank introduced and from the stairs came Barb who was wearing a beautiful, white gown.
"Thanks, Hank! It's good to be back!" She smiled, going over to her husband.
"Yay, mommy and daddy!" Chloe cheered.
"Aww! She thinks their cool." Phoebe grinned.
Barb grabbed something and came back over with a game.
"The game our family will be playing tonight is 'Who Arted?'" Barb announced, showing off the game.
"That's right! The winning team will draw, charade, and sculpt their way to victory." Hank announced as Barb made gestures to each thing.
"Just get to the prize wheel." Phoebe pleaded before we began to chant "Prize Wheel!" together.
Barb went over to the blue cover up and ripped it off the reveal a huge prize wheel.
"Did somebody say Prize Wheel?!" Hank exclaimed.
"Oooooo!" Us kids said.
"Maybe it will finally land on 'new car.' Nora wondered.
"I just don't want it to land on 'underwear shopping spree.' I don't wear them people!" Billy yelled and I gave him an odd look.
"Hold on, people." Max stood up. "I would like to make a switch in teammates. I think Lindsey and I should be teammates and Chloe and Phoebe should be teammates."
"Yay, Phoebe!" Chloe cheered and Phoebe chuckled.
"Aw, she thinks you're cool." Max teased.
Phoebe stood up, "Max, you and I are usually teammates."
"I can be Chloe's teammate, it's okay." I assured them.
"Yay, Lindsey!" Chloe cheered.
"Lindsey's my girlfriend, I want to be with her." Max reasoned, smiling down at me.
Phoebe glanced between us and sighed. "Alright."
They both sat down again and Hank continued talking.
"Okay! Who wants to spin the wheel?" Hank asked us and Chloe raised her hand.
"How about this adorable contestant?!" Hank pointed to Chloe who teleported away and over to the wheel.
"You gotta spin it to win it, baby!" Chloe announced, before spinning the gigantic wheel.
The wheel stopped spinning after a good minute and it landed on 'New Car.'
"New car!" We all exclaimed, excitedly.
Max hugged me happily and I giggled.
"Yay!" Chloe cheered and the parents were horrified.
"How could this happen?!" Hank asked.
Max gave me a big kiss and I blushed.
Hank and Barb went over to the wheel and we all sorta chilled out before we got to the game. Max went over to the kitchen to grab some snacks and I went over to him.
"It's great that the wheel landed on new car, right Max?" I asked my boyfriend, leaning on the island.
Max turned to me with a bowl of chips and nodded. "Yeah. Can't wait to get that car when we win."
I stared at Max and read his mind.
'So glad Colosso and I rigged the wheel.'
I smiled with amusement and put my hand on his shoulder.
"I know you rigged the wheel."
Max spit out the chip he was eating and stared at me in shock.
"How did you know?" He asked, lowering his voice.
"Well, you just told me." I began and he looked guilty. "And I can read minds, remember?"
Max averted his eyes from and I folded my arms.
"Why did you rig the wheel?" I asked him.
"Because I really want that car." He told me and I knew he was lying, partly.
"So does everyone else." I countered. "Max..."
"Fine. I want to win the car so I can ride around with you." Max admitted with a soft smile.
"Really?" I asked with a pink cheeks and a smile.
"Yeah." He nodded.
"Aw." I wrapped my arms around his waist and rested my head against his chest. "I guess I'm okay with you rigging the wheel."
"Good." Max said and wrapped his arms around me.
"What are you up to this time, Max?" I heard Phoebe say as she came up to us. "Aw, you guys are so cute."
I giggled softly and we slowly pulled away from one another.
"First, we change partners, which is actually okay because Linds is your girlfriend, but the wheel landing on new car is kinda suspicious." Phoebe explained, "This whole thing smells fishy."
"I didn't do anything to the wheel." Max protested. "If you don't believe go down to my lair and check for evidence."
Phoebe glanced away and I saw Max tap his watch. I rolled my eyes at him.
"You know, what? It doesn't matter, Chloe and I are gonna win that car and go on the best road trip ever." Phoebe smiled smugly and moments later her eyes widened. "My fantasy is right! I should get Chloe to the library for a quick study sess!"
"Are you fantasy about studying?" Max asked her.
"Are you about to get hit with popcorn?" Phoebe asked and used her telekinesis to shove the bowl to his face making all the popcorn hit him.
I snickered at this and Phoebe walked away. I took a piece of popcorn out of Max's hair and kissed his cheek.
Hank and Barb looked over at us and Max and I waved at them. I think they are onto him about Max rigging the wheel.
——
After eating pizza that Hank bought, it was time to play.
"It's game time!" Hank announced as we walked into the living room.
"Are you still good at drawing?" Max asked me as we sat down together on the red chair.
"Of course." I whispered.
The game began and It was my turn. I was drawing a scene that involved a bed time story and it looked pretty good.
I finished and waited for Max to figure it out.
"Bedtime story!" He answered.
"Yeah!" I smiled and flipped the page to a empty one for Billy and Nora before sitting back down with Max.
"I have the best teammate." Max whispered to me and gave me an Eskimo kiss.
"Billy, Nora, let's see what you got." Hank said and the both of them stood up with Billy drawing. He checked the card before drawing.
"A pen! A boy with a pen!"
I gave Nora a weird look as she called out her guesses.
"A boy with a pen who's staring at me!"
"I haven't even started drawing yet." Billy told her with furrowed eyebrows.
"Submarine! Gumbo! Church! Home for the holidays!" Nora called out and all of us were confused.
"Someone else go so I don't have to explain what's happening." Billy suggested.
Phoebe stood up. "Alright, Chloe we're up."
Phoebe took the pen from Billy and checked the card.
"Okay." Phoebe said and began to draw.
Phoebe isn't a great artist, but her drawing looked like a bunch of squiggles.
"It's hard to watch, but it's impossible to look away." I muttered to Max who nodded.
Phoebe stared at Chloe with big eyes and Chloe was puzzled by the drawing. Phoebe's time ran out and got buzzed.
"It's heart and soul!" Phoebe explained, gesturing to her drawing and we all denied her assumption of that being heart and soul. "Don't worry, Chloe we'll just win the next one."
"I'm bored, I'm going to go see my dollies." Chloe pouted and ran off.
"Wait, Chloe!" Phoebe called but Chloe ignored her.
"Aw! Tough break, Phoebe." Hank told her. He was pretending to be sad but Hank and Barb were actually happy by the smile on their faces.
Phoebe faced Max and I.
"Nice try, Max. I'm gonna find another partner, you're not getting rid of me that easily." Phoebe scoffed.
"It's not my fault Chloe ditched you." Max shrugged and looked at me, sincerely. "I would never do that to you, darling."
I gave him a smile. "You better not."
Later, after the first part of the game, the doorbell rang and Phoebe answered it.
"Oh! I'll get it. It's my new teammate." Phoebe opened the door and Colosso walked in.
"Hello, family." He greeted, removing his hat.
"Oh my god." I muttered, leaning my head on Max's shoulder.
"Colosso is here for game night!" He continued.
Phoebe and Colosso came up to us. "Mindsey's going down."
"Colosso! What are you doing here? As a human." Max asked him.
"I'm here to help Phoebe win this game." Colosso told him. "And I thought this was family game night."
I glared Colosso and he pushed passed me.
"Me too." I remarked with a small snarl. Max held my arms and kissed my temple.
"Don't attack him yet."
Colosso ignored me and looked at Barb.
"Barbara." Colosso said and sat next to her. "Still as ravishing as ever." He kissed her hand and she grimaced.
"Eww! Okay! No! No!" She ripped her hand away and moved away. "Phoebe! I'd like to talk to you in the kitchen please."
Phoebe, Hank, and Barb walked into the kitchen.
Colosso looked at Billy and Nora.
"You two look smaller then I remember." Colosso stated and then the two of them got up.
"We're going to fix my brain so nobody look!" Nora announced before they ran off.
"Even as a human he still acts like bunny." I commented, watching Colosso drink water like he was a bunny.
Max furrowed his eyebrows for a moment before turning to see Colosso.
"What are you doing?" Max asked Colosso.
"Looking for some shredded newspaper. That was a lot of water and I don't want to ruin Lady Barbara's couch." Colosso informed us, searching around the room.
"Of all people you teamed up with Phoebe?" Max questioned. "I thought we were best friends!"
"We were till you ditched me for her." Colosso scolded, pointing to me with a glare. "Little miss bright eyes."
"Her eyes are amazing." Max sighed, stroking my cheek causing me to blush.
"You're amazing." I sighed, staring into his beautiful eyes.
"Eck!" Colosso gagged and we looked at him. "Point is! Phoebe's my new best friend now."
Max and I gave him a look of disbelief.
"Alright, I still can't stand her but I am gonna help her win that car so you can't get it! Traitor!" Colosso snapped.
"You're the traitor!" Max protested and they began to fight.
I sighed and walked away from them and over to Phoebe, Hank, and Barb.
"Phoebe, be reasonable and turn him back please." I begged and glanced at the arguing boys behind me.
"Colosso can stay."
"What?!" I exclaimed to Hank.
"Yes! Thank you! Thank you!" Phoebe beamed and walked away.
I followed behind her and shook my head.
We continued playing and the next portion Of the game was French Culture.
Billy and Nora were going and Billy was crafting something.
"Tour Eiffel!" Nora guessed and I gave her a look.
How did she know the French word for Eiffel Tower.
"Wrong!" Hank said and showed us the card. "Eiffel Tower."
"Hank! She said it in French! She's showboating." Barb told her.
"Oh..."
"Ten points for Billy and Nora." Hank weakly said and wrote down their points. "Alright, Phoebe. You and Colosso are next."
Colosso started to craft the sculpture.
"This is awful, Linds. We should have this game in the bag by now." Max whispered to me.
"Don't worry about it. Don't be so intense, babe." I rubbed his arm, trying to calm him down.
"Who's intense? I'm not intense. I just want to win!" He exclaimed, making me lean back.
Suddenly, Colosso smashed his sculpture and I looked at Max. He did that.
"Why'd you do that?" Phoebe asked Colosso.
"Forgive me, it's like I'm not in control of my limbs." Colosso apologized, glaring at Max and Phoebe did too.
Buzz!
"Oh! Our turn!" Max chirped and gave me the material to sculpt. "Now go make me a masterpiece to win this thing."
He kissed my cheek before I went over to the table and checked the card.
I was about to start but Max suddenly hit Phoebe with a pillow.
Oh god.
"You can't do that to my partner!" Colosso defended and whacked Max with a pillow.
"Don't hit me you traitor!" Max snapped and they both started to pillow fight.
Max dodged one and accidentally hit Billy and Nora.
I gasped and stood up along with Hank.
"Hey! Don't hit the little ones!" Hank protested.
"Fine." Colosso said. "Ill hit the big one!"
Colosso whacked Hank with a pillow and everyone began to pillow fight.
I was upset with everyone at the moment. This is getting out of hand, it's just game night.
"Those are my good pillows, you stupid rabbit!" Barb scolded as they continued to fight more and more.
"Stop it!
We all turned to see Chloe standing there with her doll.
"Be nice!"
"Why are we fighting?!" I asked. "I'm tempted to leave right now."
"Blame your boyfriend." Colosso blamed.
"Yeah, he's a liar and a cheater!" Phoebe added.
"I know that, but that's no reason to fight." I reasoned.
"We wouldn't be fighting this much if Max didn't love you so much and ditch Colosso!" Phoebe argued
"I don't love her!" Max exclaimed to his sister and my heart stopped.
"What?" I asked with my voice cracking, just like my heart. The entire family looked at me and I scoffed. "Nice to know you feel that way."
I turned away and walked out of the house. I made my way down their porch in a slow pace.
"Of course he doesn't love me, what villain loves someone?" I muttered, feeling tears prick from my eyes.
——
Third Person's POV
Once Lindsey left, Max sat down on the couch and held a pillow to his chest.
"Max," Colosso began. "I think I speak for everyone here when I say..." Max looked at him. "You don't need her! Good riddance!"
Barb picked up the animalizer and shot it at Colosso, turning him back into a rabbit.
"Been waiting to do that all night!" Barb sighed with relief.
"Well, goodnight." Colosso said. "If you need me I'll be down in the lair, hating you all!"
Colosso left the scene and Max sighed. He just lost the girl he cared about most all because he couldn't admit that he loved her.
"I don't know what just happened."
Phoebe joined her twin on the couch.
"Let a girl explain it to you." Phoebe told him. "You're in love with Lindsey!"
Max leaned back. "I am?"
"Think about it, Max! Every time you see her, you're all worried about how you smell." Phoebe told him.
"And you talk about her all the time." Hank added. "We all love Lindsey, but it gets annoying."
"And you see her everyday. Well, we all do, but you see her most." Billy continued.
"And you get that look in your eye when you think about her." Barb mentioned and Max was staring off into space, thinking about Lindsey. "That's it."
He was thinking about her amazing eyes, beautiful hair, and how gorgeous she is all around. Max loves her stubborn and independent personality and how she can fight for what she wants.
"Same look your father gets when he finds potato chips in the furniture." Barb finished and Hank picked up a pillow that had potato chips inside it.
Hank ate one and had the same look as Max.
"Max, you went through all the trouble to win the car." Phoebe remarked. "What were you going to do with it?"
"Ride around with Lindy." Max replied.
"See, you even use nicknames more than us. None of us call her Lindy." Barb mentioned with a smile.
"Or darling." Phoebe added.
Max realized his feelings and sighed.
"Man! I am in love with her!"
Max got up off the couch and ran outside
Lindsey's POV
"Lindsey!" I heard Max's voice and I rolled my eyes. "Lindsey! Wait!"
I stopped and turned to Max. He stopped running when he reached me and breathed out.
"Lindsey, listen, I- I'm so sorry." He apologized, giving me sorrowful eyes.
"For what? I know we never admitted that we loved each other, but hearing you say you don't. That hurt me." I scolded and went to turn away but he stopped me by grabbing my arm.
"I know and I'm sorry." He told me and I let my eyes wander to the sidewalk. "I just- I'm just-"
He froze for a moment before he pulled me close and connected our lips. His free hand found my lower back and squeezed it firmly.
I was mad at him but not mad enough to pull away. I kissed back and wrapped my free hand around his neck.
We stayed there for a few seconds until we both pulled away.
Max swallowed and kept his beautiful brown eyes attached to mine.
"I love you, Lindsey Earnest."
That was the first time he told me that and he was telling the truth.
"I love you to, Max Thunderman."
Max smiled softly at my words and moved both his hands into mine. He squeezed them and placed a tender kiss on my nose.
"I'm sorry for what I said back there." Max told me, "I've just never knew what love felt like... until I met you."
A faint smile formed on my face and I giggled.
"Well, I'm glad I'm that person and not some random girl." I joked and Max chuckled.
"You're the best girlfriend ever." Max confessed and my heart fluttered.
"And you're the best and evilest boyfriend ever." I smiled, giggling. Max leaned down and pecked my lips.
Max let one of my hands go and we walked back to his house.
On the porch, we saw Max's family standing there listening and we froze. I chuckled, rolling my eyes.
"We are coming back now!" Max called and we saw them rush inside.
Max and I approached their house and walked in. We saw everyone standing there, anxious to hear everything.
"So, is everything okay?" Phoebe asked with hope.
I nodded slowly and blushed. "Yes."
"Can we hear you say it?" Barb asked us and I chuckled, nervously. "Please?"
Max and I shared a look.
"Max-"
"I love you, Lindsey."
His family 'awwed' and I blushed, looking at my shoes.
"Yay." Phoebe giggled.
"I love you too, Max." I confessed, shifting my eyes to his and he smiled.
It's nice to be able to feel people's emotions, because you know if they are telling the truth or lying. Max is telling the truth.
"Well, I'm so glad you two worked things out." Phoebe sighed with relief.
"Me too." Max said and kissed my temple, wrapping his arm around my waist. I leaned into him and smiled happily.
"Save it for the tree." Billy called, disgusted.
"Well, I guess this means game nights over." Phoebe sighed.
"Wait! Who won the car?" I asked.
"Well, since Max and Phoebe cheated and Lindsey is a part of Max's team, so that means you three are out." Barb explained. "So that puts your dad and I in second place!
The couple hi-fives and smiled happily.
"No! Nora and I came in second after our comeback in the last round!" Billy protested as Nora handed Hank the point sheet.
"Guess that means you have to buy them a car." Phoebe chuckled and went over to Nora. "You know you're my favorite sister, right?"
The two sisters hugged. Once they pulled away, Nora spoke to her in perfect French and covered her own mouth once she was done.
We all stared at Nora in shock and Max and I shared a look. Hold up...
"Say what now?" Chloe asked.
"Wait? Did you two mess with the machine down in my lair?" Max asked Billy and Nora.
Nora replied in French and shut her own mouth again.
"I think that's a yes." I remarked.
"Sweet! I'm totally gonna pass my French exam!" Max beamed and Hank and Barb looked at him causing Max to change his expression. "But all you guys need to know is that they cheated!"
Barb stood up. "That means we don't have to buy a car! Thank goodness each one of you kids is a terrible, stinking, cheater!" The couple bumped butts and hugged, celebrating.
"Your mother and I have never been more proud of you guys." Hank smiled.
The doorbell rang and Billy super sped over to the door and answered it.
I don't know who it was but I didn't care.
Max and I confessed our love for one another and I'm so happy I have him in my life.
