Gimme a Break-Up
Lindsey's POV
"Thanks for inviting us to hang out at Splatburger Max and Lindsey." Nora smiled.
"I didn't invite you to hang out. I invited you to pay." Max told her and handed Nora the check.
"Max." I rolled my eyes and took the check from Nora. "I'll pay."
"Hello Thunderbrats and Little Burnest."
I mentally groaned when I heard Mrs. Wong's voice. I leaned my head on Max's shoulder and he placed his hand on my thigh, giving me a soft kiss on the head.
"Mrs. Wong? What are you doing here?" Nora asked her.
Who cares why she is here? Asking her will only make her stay longer.
"I'm passing out samples of my chili." Mrs. Wong explained, giving us each a sample of her chilly. "The Chili Wars Cooking Show is coming to Hiddenville and I'm in it to win it."
"Why you here at Splatburger? This isn't your restaurant." Max asked her.
"It is now. Soon I will own every restaurant in Hiddenville and you won't be able to escape the long arm of Wong!" She announced, pointing at us before laughing. Max and I shared a look before shaking our heads. "Anyway, enjoy the chili."
I lifted my head up and picked up the chili sample.
"Everything taste better when it's free." I mentioned and we each took a bite. I gagged and crinkled my nose. That was disgusting.
"Except this!" Max gagged and we all spit out the disgusting food that was called chili.
"That does not deserve to be named chili." I remarked, wiping my mouth.
"I can make better chili then this. Right here at this table." Max declared. "Watch. Burrito. Fried peppers. Hamburger." Max tapped on the tablet to order the food. "And my secret ingredient."
"Love?"
"Grow up, Billy."
I smiled in amusement before Max continued.
"Sweet potato fries!"
All of the food Max order came out of the tube above and lands on the plate.
Max leaned over and used his heat breathe to cook the food and it turned into chili.
"Dig in." Max smiled.
Nora, Billy, and I scooped a little bit of the chilly and tasted it.
"That's delicious!" I praised my boyfriend.
"Yum!"
"That's awesome! How'd you learn to cook like that?" Billy asked his brother.
"I was in my lair trying to make a cherry bomb and next thing I know I made a cherry pie that was the bomb!" Max explained with a cute grin.
Mrs. Wong returned which ruined my moon.
"So, everybody enjoying my chili?" She asked with hope.
"No! We're enjoying this chili." Billy denied, gesturing to Max's chilly. "We spit yours out."
Mrs. Wong frowned at this and picked up a spoon. "What?! Let me try."
She dipped her spoon in the chili and tasted it.
"Mhm, not bad." Wong commented and looked at Max. "What's in it?"
"Its a family secret. Sorry Wong." Max apologized.
"No hard feelings." She smiled before licking the spoon and stirring it in the bowl before leaving.
I grimaced at this and rolled my eyes. Typical Wong.
She smiled at her work before leaving.
"Yeah, I think we're done." Max declared before grabbing my hand and we walked out.
——
The next day, I was hanging out with Max in his lair. Max was working with chemicals and making something, I wasn't to sure what he was doing.
"Max! Lindsey!" I heard Billy call and I looked behind me to see Billy coming down the slide. "You guys have to see this!"
Billy and Nora came up to us and pulled up his tablet. Max put down the chemical and grabbed the tablet. On the screen was the show Chili Wars and Mrs. Wong was there
"Hey! Hey! Hey! Chili De Williams here with a preview of this weeks Chili Wars!" The host announced. "We're in Hiddenville with contestant Mrs. Wong and I-" He smelled the air and smiled. "Mhmmm! It smells like you've got a pretty good chance of winning this weeks big cash prize. Do I detect a little of-" He sniffed. "Sweet potato fries in there?" I stared at the screen in disbelief and Max as shocked.
"Ah! Ah! Ah! It's a secret. Family recipe and if anybody says I stole it, he's a liar!" Mrs. Wong glared.
"I can't believe Wong stole my recipe!" Max exclaimed and I rose my eyebrow at this. "I mean I can, but I can't!"
"You can't let her win that money with your chili." Nora remarked.
"Yeah, you've got to enter that chili cooking contest." Billy agreed and Max pondered the idea.
"Woahhhhh!" Collosso cut in. "Villains don't cook on tv! You'll ruin your evil reputation. By the way, I booked your pedicure with Chloe at two."
I smiled at this and giggled.
"Thank you!" Max grinned happily before getting serious. "And you're right I can't be seen cooking in public. But someone else can."
Max put his hands on his siblings shoulders.
"Let's get cooking!"
I looked over and saw Collosso in a chief uniform and I rolled my eyes.
"Not you." I bluntly told him.
"I meant Billy and Nora." Max informed his pet. "Sorry pal."
——
"Let the Chili Wars begin!"
It was the day of the Chili Wars and we had brought all the pots from their house here. I brought a few supplies from home but more was from the Thunderman's household.
Max put down the now empty box that was filled with pots and wrapped an arm around me before he pulled me over to Wong's table.
"Listen Wong, there's no way you're winning that cash prize with your "secret family recipe!" Max challenged.
"I didn't say it was my family." Wong countered.
"Well, we have another secret ingredient. His family over is gonna teach you a thing or two about winning a chili war." I gestured over to Billy and Nora. We looked over and saw the two siblings fighting with the wooden spoons and Max and I both sighed.
"They're just uh-Warming up their spoons." Max explained. "That's another family secret."
We walked back to to Billy and Nora and I took the spoons away from them before we got to work.
"Is this gonna work, guys?" Billy asked us.
"Yes, no one's gonna know I'm doing all the cooking, cause you two are my kitchen puppets remember?" Max told them and used his telekinesis to make them hi-five.
"I like being a puppet." Billy smiled. "Take the wheel, Max!"
Billy fell to the floor and Max shook his head while I giggled.
"Hey! Hey! Hey! I'm Chili De Williams coming at you from Hiddenville where this week's episode of Chili Wars is gonna he hotter than a habanero!" Walking in was Chili De Williams and his camera crew. "Let's meet our first two contestants, Billy and Nora Thunderman." He spotted Max and I. "Who are these two?"
"Uhhh.." Max and I trailed off before he grabbed two pot lids and covered our faces. "We're Fred and Molly Not'a'Cook!'"
We awkwardly moved away before lowering the lids from our faces.
"Alright, are you two ready for the battle of the beans?!" Chili De asked them.
"We sure are!" Nora beamed. "Make sure you shoot my bow side, Cho! Can I call you, Cho?!"
Chili De laughed. "Sure you can, Baby B. Just stay out of my light." He shoved her away softly. "Alright! Let's get cooking!"
"Okay." Bill began. "First we get-" Max used his telekinesis to make Billy grab the beans. "Beans!" Billy poured the beans into the pot. "And dump them in the pot. Totally on our own."
"Look who's cooking like big boy!" Chili De chuckled.
"Then I get some salt and I put it in the-Oh no!" Max made Nora grab the salt and made her put it on the meat. "Looks like it's going on the meat!"
When she was done, she accidentally knocked over the pepper.
"Then I knock over the pepper!" She smiled like it was supposed to happen.
"Achoo!" Billy sneezed and his snot landed right in the pot.
I lightly groaned and hid my face in Max's shoulder. "Oh god..."
I can feel Max's emotion and it was turning into annoyance and anger.
I lifted my head up but kept my chin on his shoulder.
"I'll take care of that." Billy offered and stuck his hand in the pot. Max and I both grimaced at this.
"You do know we're on tv, right?" Chili De asked him.
"Oh sorry." Billy realized and turned to the camera with a smile. "I'll take care of that!"
Chili De groaned and took out a wooden fork. "Chili De's sticking a fork in ya. You are done!"
"Ow!" Billy whined when Chili De poked him with the fork.
"I can do that. I'm a tv star." Chili De said. "Let's see who's next!"
Chili De and the camera crew walked away and Max and I approached the two. Mrs. Wong was mocking us from across the room and I glared at the woman.
Later, Chili De had tasted all the other chili's and he didn't enjoy them. Now he was with Mrs. Wong who was smirking proudly. She knows she is gonna win and I hate it.
"We are back in Hiddenville where each batch of chili so far has been worst then the last." Chili De announced and approached Wong. "Which means if your Chili taste like...food then the cash prize is yours!
"Well, why don't you have a bite?" Wong offered and she went to pick up a spoon but her hand was restricted from touching it.
I glanced over and saw Max was stopping her from doing so. I smiled at this and eagerly waited for Wong to fail.
"Max, what are you doing?" Nora asked her older brother.
"If I'm not winning the money, neither is Wong." Max told us.
Max made Wong grab some sweet potato fries and she was puzzled.
"I don't know why I'm holding these." She spoke with confusion in her voice.
"Looks like your adding your secret ingredient." Chili De spoke with a smile.
Max made Wong toss the fries at Chili De and I snickered at this. I grabbed Max's arm and kissed his cheek.
Having a villain boyfriend has never felt this good before.
"Which is a dash of crazy." Chili De added and Wong was horrified.
"You think that's crazy?" Max asked with a smirk. Max got control of Wong and moved her in front of her pot and I covered my mouth knowing what Max was thinking of doing.
"What's happening?!" She cried out as Max slowly lowered her head into the chili pot. I laughed at this and watched Max lift her head back up out of the pot. Wong's face was covered in chili sauce and it was so hard not to laugh.
"Did I win?" She asked, spitting out her chili.
"No! No, you lost the Chili War." Chili De denied. "And your mind! But you do get this." He poked her with his wooden fork.
"Ow!"
"I'm Chili De Williams and this has been Chili Wars. We'll see you next week." Chili De smiled. "And cut!"
Chili slammed the fork down. "This mess is never gonna air! Pack it up boys!" Chili De began to leave. "I should've never left game shows. Boop!" He poked Billy's shoulder before leaving the room and dropping the fork.
"Ow!"
The rest of the crew left and Max and I approached the chili faced Wong with Billy and Nora.
"Another family secret, stir your chili with your spoon not your face." Max advised and I giggled. She growled angrily and the four of us hi-fived before walking out.

Third Person's POV
Lindsey was asleep in her room while Daniel was doing work in the kitchen at 10:00 pm
Ring ring
A video message request appeared on Daniel's screen and he accepted the request.
Williams Earnest appeared on the screen and Daniel's face lit up.
"Dad! Hey!" He greeted and Williams grinned.
"Hey, son."
"Let me get Lindsey." Daniel said and was ready to call his sister.
"No! No! Don't!" William stopped him and Daniel gave him a look. "I actually called to talk to you. It's important."
"What could be so important that you don't want Lindsey here?" Daniel asked him, folding his arms.
"It's actually about Lindsey." William told him and sighed. "Do you know the reason why I joined the Navy in the first place?"
"Yeah, you wanted to follow in your father's footsteps." Daniel answered. "Why?"
William didn't want to admit this but he had to.
"That's part of the reason but I had another reason why." William admitted and Daniel listened closely.
"What is it?" Daniel asked him.
"When Lindsey was younger and didn't have full control of her powers, I will admit I was scared."
Daniel crinkled his nose at this and scoffed.
"I was too, but she was younger and needed to learn how to control them." Daniel countered. "And she did."
"I know she did but back there her powers were hectic and I didn't want to be in that environment. Her sonic scream ability shattered the windows on multiple occasions." Williams explained and Daniel did not want to hear his father talk about Lindsey this way.
"Dad, what are you trying to say?" Daniel asked, sternly.
"I left because I was scared of Lindsey." Williams confessed and Daniel's eyes widened.
"What?!"
Slam!
Daniel and William jumped at the sound and William shut his eyes and Daniel sighed.
They both realized that Lindsey had heard their entire conversation.
"Oh god..." William groaned.
"I can't believe you, dad." Daniel shook his head. "You didn't bother to give your daughter a chance to learn and instead of trying to help you left because of fear."
"Daniel, if you just let me explain-"
"No!" Daniel exclaimed, angered by his father. "You've said enough. Don't bother coming home. I don't want to see you and I'm sure Lindsey doesn't either."
"Daniel, I'm sorry-"
"You should be apologizing to Lindsey not me." Daniel interrupted, spitting at the screen in fury. "First, mom leaves and now I hear this piece of crap."
William was rendered speechless by his son's anger and just lowered her head.
"Nothing to say?" Daniel asked and scoffed. "Good, because we are done talking. Bye William."
Daniel hung up on the Navy sailor and slammed his computer shut. He buried his face in his hands and sat there in silence.
All he could think about was Lindsey and how heartbroken she was. Daniel just hoped she won't take her anger out in the wrong way and lose herself.

Ooooo.... drama is coming for Lindsey and her family. This type of drama is okay with me, but boyfriend drama is not my style. Turns out William was scared of his daughter and Daniel is beyond upset with him, while Lindsey is heartbroken.
I'm tempted to skip No Country for Old Mentors because Lindsey is upset and probably doesn't want to see anyone, even Max. But I will write the chapter and comment if you want me to write it because Date Exceptions is next and I'm definitely skipping that one.
No Allison drama reminder.
