Family Gathering

(Lindsey's Bedroom^^. I skipped 'On the Straight and Arrow' and 'Why you Buggin'? I just felt like Lindsey didn't fit in 'On the Straight and Arrow' and for 'Why you Buggin' that did not happen in my story because Max likes Quinn. So, to replace 'Why you Buggin' this is an original chapter)

Lindsey's POV

My cousin, Grace, is visiting and I love her. One reason, we look so similar. Our faces have similar features but you can still tell us apart from up close.

My Aunt Bianca, she's the one with only one child, unlike my other aunt who has five. She has a set of triplets and a set of twins. She wasn't exactly psyched about the turnout but loves her kids. Also, tomorrow my other aunt and her kids are visiting as well and we are having a get together at my house. It's gonna be a hectic day tomorrow.

"Why are you making a huge deal about your cousins coming?" Phoebe asked me as we walked down the steps at her house.

"Because we just get along so well and I have another surprise about the oldest girl." I smiled at her and Phoebe was eager.

"Can't wait."

"If she's related to you, then she must be hot." I heard Max say from the couch and I rolled my eyes.

"Saying stuff like that will involve punishments," I told my boyfriend sitting next to him. Phoebe walked into the kitchen for a snack. "Like no kisses from me."

Max gasped and giggled.

"Max will not let that happen." He shook his head and he kissed my cheek. "Besides no girl is more beautiful than you."

I blushed lightly and let out a small giggle.

"No guy is more attractive than you." I poked Max's nose playfully and he smiled at me.

"I sure hope so," Max told me, wrapping his arm around my shoulders.

I heard a groan and we turned to see Phoebe standing there.

"I like that you two are dating but please don't do that all the time." She told us, gesturing to our position.

"No can do sis." Max denied.

"I can't promise anything but we can tone it down," I assured her and Phoebe gave me a smile in return.

My phone rang and I pulled it out o my pocket.

"Hey, Danny." I greeted.

'Hey, Bianca and Grace are here.'

"Oh, I'll be right over."

I ended the call and stood up.

"Are they here?!" Phoebe exclaimed excitedly, following my actions.

I nodded. "Yeah. Wanna come to meet them?"

"Yes." Phoebe nodded eagerly and I giggled at her excitement.

"Max?" I asked my boyfriend who was just sitting there.

He sighed and stood up. "Fine."

I kissed his cheek and went to the door.

"Mom! We're going over to Lindsey's place!" Phoebe yelled to her mother.

"Okay!" Barb called back.

I opened the door and the three of us walked out.

"Phoebe, it seems like you're more excited than me." I pointed out noticing Phoebe's huge smile.

"Well, you said there was a surprise. And I like surprises." Phoebe informed and I chuckled with amusement.

"It's probably not a big deal and she's excited for no reason," Max mentioned and I whacked his stomach.

"Max." I groaned.

About a minute had passed and we reach my house. I opened the door and walked inside, nobody was here.

"Where are they?" I asked and the twins shrugged.

I cleared my throat. "Daniel!"

"Yes?"

I jumped and turned around to see my brother walking down the steps.

"Where are Grace and Bianca?"

"Uh, Aunt Bianca left to the hotel to grab something but Grace-"

"Surprise!"

All four of us jumped and yelled in surprise. Daniel wrapped his arms around me and hopped onto my back and the twins grabbed each other.

I groaned and knocked my brother off me.

"Get off me you freak!" I snapped at my brother

The twins released each other in disgust and I looked at the person who scared us.

Grace walked out with a huge smile.

"Girl, you still jump like a kangaroo." She giggled and I rolled my eyes at her.

"Wait a minute." I heard Max say and we looked at him. Both twins seemed confused by her presence.

"Yes?" I asked with an amusing grin.

"That's your cousin?" Phoebe asked with disbelief. "But she looks just like you?"

"Scary right?" Daniel cut in.

"Yeah, we are cousins." Grace nodded. "People think we are twins but we're not."

"Aren't you lucky you don't have a twin to deal with," Max spoke sarcastically and Phoebe rolled her eyes. "I'm stuck with this one."

"They're the twins I've been telling you about," I informed Grace and she nodded.

"I'm Phoebe and this is Max." Phoebe introduced and held out her hand.

"It's nice to meet the both of you. Lindsey's talks about both of you all the time." Grace told them, shaking Phoebe's hand.

"Hopefully it's good things." Phoebe grinned and I nodded.

"Of course. I only talk bad about my grandmother."

The twins didn't look to please at the mention of her name and I quickly changed the subject.

"So!" I chirped. "When will Bianca get here?"

Grace smiled brightly. "Soon, she wants to give you and Danny something."

"A bird!"

We all looked at Danny and I rolled my eyes.

"I hope not. Remember our last pet bird? You almost burned it to death." I reminded him and Daniel scoffed. Max snickered from beside me

"I did no such thing." He waved me off.

"I remember that!" Grace beamed. "Daniel tried to start a fire for our barbecue and he almost dropped her."

"Why would you hold a bird over the fire?" Phoebe asked with an amusing smile.

"For a cooked bird?" Max questioned and I flicked him in the forehead.

"Can we move on please?" Daniel suggested and I grinned at him. "Lindsey, I hate to be like dad but can you go clean your room?"

"I did that yesterday," I told him.

"Really?"

"Yes!"

"Are you lying?"

I averted my eyes. "Yeah."

"Go." Daniel motioned me upstairs.

"It's not even that messy," I complained as I walked up the steps.

"No excuses." I heard Daniel say before I couldn't hear them anymore.

Third Person's POV

"Do you two always bicker like that?" Phoebe chuckled at the scene she just witnessed.

Max was grinning in amusement.

"Sometimes. It's fun to annoy your sister." Daniel smiled.

"I heard that!" Lindsey shouted from the second floor.

"Don't care!" Daniel countered. "She is a handful. Like, you guys don't know how crazy and stubborn she can be."

Max snickered. "Actually we do. She's the exact same with us and I love it."

Phoebe rolled her eyes at her brother. Max finds it extremely attractive when Lindsey is crazy.

"You're her boyfriend, not her brother." Daniel protested and Max agreed.

Lindsey's POV

My room wasn't messy, it's just unorganized. If I can find my stuff then it's clean.

I went to pick up my phone to check something but I accidentally dropped it and it went under my bed.

"Please don't be cracked," I mumbled and got on my knees and reached underneath. I felt my phone and pulled it out to expect my phone, but instead, I found something else. It was a red and black journal.

"What the-" I paused blew the dust that was sitting on it off and sat on my bed.

'Ashlyn's Journal'

"Ashlyn? Who's that?" I wondered aloud. "Why do I have this?"

I flipped through the pages and almost all of them were written in.

"Lindsey?"

I quickly hid the journal under my pillow and sat there.

"Yes?"

Max walked in and I gave him a smile.

"I think you might wanna come downstairs."

He gave me a wink and I followed him out of suspicion.

We went downstairs and I saw my Aunt Bianca standing there.

"Bianca." I smiled softly.

She turned around and she had an adorable puppy in her arms.

"Oh my gosh, a puppy." I approached Bianca and Grace was standing there with a huge smile. "Where did you get him?"

"Aunt Iris's dog, Cassie, had puppies and is offering to give them away to anyone and we thought you might want one. It's a boy." Bianca informed me and I was already in love with him.

It was a golden retriever puppy.

"Danny." I turned my brother with a pleading look. "Please."

"Of course, I know how much you love animals." He agreed with a soft smile.

"Yay." I cheered.

"He's so cute." Phoebe cooed. "What are you gonna call him?"

"I don't know." I shrugged.

"A cute girl gets a cute puppy. Seems right." Max spoke and I blushed.

"Is that the boyfriend?" Bianca whispered to me and I nodded with a smile and pink cheeks. "He's cute."

Grace shrugged. "Ehh."

I rolled my eyes and focused on the puppy.

"Can I hold him?" I asked and Bianca nodded.

She carefully handed him to me and in held him gently in my arms.

"I love him." I giggled and Phoebe gently stroked his fur.

"I wish we could have a puppy but we're not allowed," Phoebe informed.

I think I know why. One word: Bunny.

"He's cute, but he's your responsibility," Daniel told me, scratching the puppy's head.

"I figured." I grinned and looked down at the puppy. He looked up and licked my cheek. I giggled. "Besides, I can actually take care of an animal."

"Hey," Daniel whined.

All of us chuckled and he rolled his eyes.

"You don't need to worry about getting him stuff. I have a bed, some food, and toys for him." She informed me.

"Hey, our mom wants Max and I home for dinner so we're gonna head out," Phoebe told me and I nodded.

"Alright. See ya, Pheebs." I told her.

"See ya, Linds." Phoebe side hugged me. "And I think from now on when you come over you should bring him."

I chuckled. "Will do."

"Well, Phoebe's leaving but I'm staying," Max smirked at me.

"Max." Phoebe protested and Max looked at his sister.

"What? I wanna spend some time with my girl." Max argued.

"Phoebe, don't argue it's not worth it," I advised her and she mentally agreed.

"Whatever." Phoebe sighed and waved. "Bye."

Phoebe left and I turned to my aunt and cousin.

"It's getting late so we should probably get back to the hotel," Bianca told me and I pouted.

"Alright. See ya two tomorrow along with everyone else." I smiled at them and placed the puppy on the couch, gently. I hugged Grace.

"Bye!" Grace smiled at me.

She and Bianca said goodbye to Daniel and they left.

Max and I stood there and Daniel was awkwardly standing there.

"Well, I'm gonna go so this won't be awkward." Daniel smiled sheepishly at us before he went upstairs.

"And then there were two." I giggled.

My puppy barked.

"I mean three." I corrected, glancing at my adorable puppy.

"I hope he doesn't replace me as the cutest thing you know." Max joked and I scoffed at my boyfriend.

"What makes you think you're the cutest thing I know?" I asked.

Max gave me a smirk and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. "Because you're the cutest thing I know."

"The flirting doesn't impress me anymore," I told him and sat down next to my puppy. He crawled onto my lap and I gently stroked his golden fur.

"Still gonna do it." Max winked and sat next to me. He rested his arm on the back of the couch and I leaned against him.

"I finally have a puppy." I smiled happily. "I've always wanted a puppy, but we never had the time to take care of one."

Max scratched behind the puppy's ears and the puppy leaned into his hand.

"Aww." I giggled. "I never saw you as an animal person, besides having Colloso as a pet."

"Yeah, I actually like animals. Don't tell anyone." Max told me with a serious look.

I rolled my eyes, chuckling.

"Whatever."

Max shoved me playfully causing both of us to laugh lightly.

I watched my puppy slowly fall asleep and I smiled at him softly.

"Aww, he's asleep."

I suddenly yawned and leaned head against Max. Max moved his arm down to my shoulder he squeezed me gently and I smiled.

"You tired?" He asked and I nodded, tiredly.

Without responding, Max pulled me into his lap, with my puppy still on my lap. He stood up and carried me in his arms.

"I have the cutest girlfriend in the world." Max sighed under his breath. My eyes shut and I cuddled into his chest as he carried me up the stairs.

Moments later, I felt Max place me on my bed. I opened my eyes and saw Max holding my puppy. I smiled in awe at the sight but it ended when he laid him on some blankets on the floor.

I shut my eyes again and I heard Max's footstep gradually get closer to me.

"Night, baby." Max sighed softly and I felt him kiss my forehead. I heard him say something under his breath but I couldn't hear it.

I heard his footsteps get quieter and I door shut seconds later. I opened my eyes and sat up.

I rubbed my eyes and looked over my bed to see my puppy sleeping peacefully on a pile of blankets.

I giggled at him softly and laid back down on my bed.

I felt a bump under my head and sat up. I pulled the object out from under my pillow and it was the journal I found earlier.

I laid back down and decided to open it.

I read the first line.

January 17th, 1999

The day that changed my life forever.

January 17th? That's my birthday.

I continued reading.

It all happened so fast. I woke up and went to have some breakfast and all of a sudden I had extreme pain in my lower stomach. My water manipulation had a power surge and-

I stopped reading and lowered the journal to my lap in shock.

"Powers?" I mumbled. "Who is this person?"

I continued reading and it wasn't that interesting. The woman was pregnant and I knew she was a superhero because of the power surges and her getting fully pregnant in one day.

I reached an interesting part and read it carefully.

My husband was completely stressed out. This was new to him. Our son was a normal birth, he doesn't have powers like me. This baby is different, he or she will definitely have superpowers. In a matter of hours, I was laying my bed in pain and wanting this child out of my belly. There were no superhero hospitals in the city of New York so we had to have this baby at home.

I had multiple power surges and my husband was terrified so we called in a superhero doctor. My ten-year-old son was very confused by what was happening and I knew he was scared. We all were. I've never experienced a superhero childbirth before.

The doctor dealt with the power surges. My water manipulation got the entire room wet and damp. I shot water out of my hands every few seconds. Thankfully, my phase-shifting didn't affect the birth and that stayed under control.

After hours of being in labor, my child was born. It was a beautiful baby girl with bright brown eyes. She was truly a miracle.

My husband and son walked into the bedroom and my husband knelt down next to the bed. He was mesmerized by his daughter and let a smile slip out.

"She's beautiful."

My son met his sister and he was confused.

He asked. "Why was she born on the same day? That's not how babies are born normally."

I chuckled at him and explained to him how superhero babies work.

"Despite her differences, we love her. Just like I love you."

My husband kissed my lips and I smiled down at my new daughter. She giggled at me and my heart fluttered at the sound of her laughter. She was perfect and I couldn't ask for a better daughter.

I closed the journal and though for a minute.

"I wonder whose mother that is." I wondered aloud.

Sounds very similar to my family. My father and brother aren't superheroes and I know for sure my mother is one.

I realized something and gasped.

"Was she writing about me?"

----

The next day, I woke up and decided not to ponder about the journal. Today was supposed to be a fun time with my family and I don't want to bring everyone down with that suspicious journal I found.

I got dressed in a tank top and shorts and headed downstairs. It was ten o'clock in the morning and Aunt Iris and her kids were supposed to get her around elevenish. She handles her kids pretty well with being a single mother. I just realized that both my aunts are single parents just like my father. Never noticed that until now.

I walked into the kitchen and my brother was outside getting the backyard set up.

I opened the back slider door and went into the backyard.

"Morning." Daniel greeted, moving some chairs.

"Morning." I greeted, holding my arms close. It was freezing and I'm in summertime clothes.

"Aunt Iris is bringing donuts for us by the way, so don't worry about breakfast," Daniel informed me and I smiled at the word 'donuts.'

"Yay." I cheered softly. "So, how are you envisioning this to look?"

Daniel stopped what he was going and took a look around.

"Well, this is about it. I started working on this last night when you went to bed and I finished it this morning."

It looked really good. Our backyard is really big and can fit almost thirty people here if we wanted too.

"Looks good, Danny." I praised. "It's gonna be a pretty fun day."

"Yeah, but it will be tiring," Daniel added and I chuckled.

"I know."

"Oh, how's your puppy doing?" Daniel suddenly asked, walking up to me.

"Crap!" I exclaimed and ran inside. I heard Daniel's laughter as I ran upstairs and into my room.

"Puppy?" I called in a soft voice and I heard a small bark from the side of my bed.

I walked to the other side of my room and saw my Goldendoodle puppy getting tangled up in my blankets.

I giggled at the sight and gently picked up the bundled up dog.

"I'm so sorry I forgot about you." I apologized and he licked my cheek. I removed the blankets from him and headed downstairs. "I still need to name you. I should really get on that."

Hint hint ;)

"Want some food?" I questioned and sat him down on the kitchen floor. I grabbed his bowl that was sitting on the kitchen counter and got out some dog food.

The puppy happily wagged his tail waiting patiently for his food.

I poured the food in the bowl and put it on the ground. My puppy gobbled up the food and I ruffled his fur.

"Good puppy."

I filled his water bowl also before I sat down at the kitchen table. My phone buzzed and it was Max.

'Hey, just wanted to check in. I hope you have fun with your family while I go to school :('

I giggled at his sarcasm and replied. I forgot to mention that I get to miss school for this family gathering and I'm not complaining about it.

'Poor baby, aren't I lucky? Haha, I hope you have the evilest day ever and I'll see you tomorrow.'

I took a selfie with my tongue out and attempted to make myself look adorable to tease him.

He replied moments later.

'Most adorable girl ever. Holy crap😍😍.'

I giggled and replied.

'I miss you, Maxie.'

"I miss you too, Lindy.'

Our conversation ended and I put my phone down on the table.

"I wonder how he will react if I told him about my past?"

I don't know why that suddenly came out of my mouth. That was random.

I shook that thought off and stood up off the chair and checked on my puppy.

My puppy had finished eating and was gone. I checked the living room and he was playing with his toys.

I quickly joined him and sat on the floor to play with him.

An Hour later

Ding Ding

"Daniel! They're here!"

I got off the floor and went up to the door. I opened it and saw my Aunt Iris standing on the other side.

"Aunt Iris!" I smiled brightly.

"Lindsey! Hi!" She greeted and we hugged immediately.

"Lindy!" I heard a younger voice call. I pulled away and saw her youngest kids running up to me.

Amanda, Heaven, and Summer, her triplets, attacked me with hugs and I chuckled at their excitement.

"Hey guys! I missed you!"

I looked up and saw Winter and Jacob, the twins, walking towards us.

Winter and Jacob actually get along really well.

"Hey." I smiled at them, as I went passed the triplets.

"Hey, Linds." Winter smiled and we quickly hugged.

"Hi, Lindsey." Jacob greeted and I gave him a wave.

We all walked into my house and Daniel had walked in from the kitchen at the same time.

"Hey everyone!" Daniel greeted and he got tackled with hugs from the triplets.

I giggled and turned to Iris. "How was the car ride?"

She groaned. "Exhausting, but definitely worth it."

I gave her a smile before I went over to my puppy.

"Thanks for the puppy," I told Iris as I picked up the animal. "I love him."

"It was Winter's idea," Iris informed me. I noticed the triplets and Daniel had walked out to the backyard and Winter and Jacob were on their phones.

"Thanks, Winter," I told her and she glanced up from her phone.

"Anytime." She spoke.

"We set a barbecue up outside, wanna see?" I suggested and the twins nodded and Iris followed me.

"Absolutely!" Iris beamed.

I walked through the kitchen and outside. The triplets were playing in the grass and I let my puppy run free in the grass. He barked and the kids started to play with him.

Daniel was sitting in one of the chairs watching the kids play.

"It looks great, Danny." Iris complimented my brother and he gave her a grin.

"Thanks."

"When are Aunt Bianca and Grace getting here?" Winter suddenly asked, putting her phone away. Jacob did the same with his.

"Soon," Daniel replied. "They had a late start to the day."

"Knowing Grace, it was probably her fault." I joked and we all chuckled at my joke.

"Probably." Winter giggled.

——

Later, Bianca and Grace arrived and we just hung outside the entire day. It was so much fun hanging out with my cousins and aunts and spending time with them.

I went back up to my room for a bit to grab something and I spotted the journal I found. I went over to it and I picked it up.

I opened it up to the page I last read and continued.

March 15th, 1999

Two months had passed since my daughter was born. Since she was a superhero baby, she wasn't physically two months old, she was now three years old. Confused the heck out of my husband and son but I told them it's normal for superhero babies to have these growth spurts until they turn five.

I thought everything was perfect until I received a call from Super President Kickbutt about an urgent mission that I was needed on. The Dream Destroyer was causing mayhem and I needed to stop her. She really bothers me because she can manipulate her age and make herself younger; wish I could do that.

I stopped reading and let out a laugh. "That explains a lot."

I continued.

This superhero mission was different. It involved me leaving for a few days and could possibly be fatal if I don't come out on top.

My husband was very hesitant on letting me go and I was too. I have kids I need to take care of, a newborn daughter who needs me to take care of her. I can't tell her that I'm leaving and may never come back.

I spoke to my husband and we came up with an idea. It was a horrible one but it seemed logical. I won't tell my kids I'm leaving. It's wrong to just leave without telling my daughter and son but I can't risk telling them and letting them suffer the pain of thinking I could be dead and never return.

On the day I was supposed to leave, I told my kids I would be going out for a walk for some fresh air. They didn't think anything of it, but my husband knew exactly what I was doing. He and I shared our goodbyes with tears in our eyes before I left. I couldn't bear to give my children one last look because I would break down crying.

Once I left, I never turned back and continued with the mission I was given. I know my daughter will be upset I left her, especially since she is like me, a superhero. She still hasn't grown out of her baby power, Candy manipulation, and leaving her like this will not help her figure out her power and will cause her to be stressed with her being different from her father and brother.

This journal will be given to my husband when I send it to him. I want my daughter to know the reason why I left her at such a young age. I love that little girl and I had a good reason on why I'm gone and left her to figure out her powers on her own. My daughter, if you're reading this, I love you so much and I hope you grew up to be an amazing person who loves her family and doesn't feel different from anyone. I hope to see you again one day. I love you, Lindsey Valentine Earnest.

I gasped and dropped the journal onto the floor.

"Oh my gosh."

"Lindsey!"

I quickly kicked the journal out of the way and sat on my bed. Grace walked in and motioned me to follow.

"Are you coming back outside?" She asked me and I nodded.

"Yeah, I just got distracted that's all."

She gave me a smile before she left back downstairs.

I hastily picked up the journal and stroked the cover.

"Ashlyn. My mother's name is Ashlyn. Finally, I know her name."

----

We finally know Lindsey's mother's name. I'm so excited to continue with her story and to introduce Ashlyn more in my story.

Lindsey and Daniel have a new puppy. Comment a name for the new puppy. It's a Goldendoodle and he is absolutely adorable. So give me some names!

A Goldendoodle is a mixture between a golden retriever and a poodle btw.

I did skip two episodes but I hope this chapter made up for it and Exit Stage Theft is next and you will hate me at first but you'll love me at the end, haha.
