Jimin's POV
(AU - I'm back!!! I hope this chapter was well worth the wait!)
It's been a couple weeks now since I've been working with Taehyung.
Out of pure luck, Taehyung and I have already been able to establish a mutual friendship; Even though Taehyung can be a bit bossy.
I do quite often leave Taehyung to do as he pleases while I work on my journal article, however instead of me trying to force myself into Taehyung's life, he is actively seeking ways for me to be included in his life more.
The poor man just needed a friend.
"Good morning!" I called as I entered Taehyung's suite.
I blinked my eyes however at the sight in front of me.
Taehyung sat on the floor with his back to me, and he'd opened the front door entrance to leave his suite, sitting at the top of the staircase, examining the outside world.
"Good morning." I heard Taehyung softly say before raising a mug up to his lips as I wandered closer to the male.
"Um, what are ya doing?" I asked.
Taehyung shuffled over a bit in the door frame to allow for me to sit down beside him on the top step.
"I heard a bird singing earlier," Taehyung began.
"I guess I just wanted to open the door to hear the bird better. The fresh air is also really nice." Taehyung admitted.
"Erm, you know your parents are not very keen on you being near the stairs." I told the male.
Taehyung shrugged, "Sometimes I am afraid my own parents think I am sicker than what I am."
"I will say, I am impressed you were able to sit down on the floor without me this time." I hummed, feeling the cool morning air on my face.
"I'll need help getting up though." Taehyung murmured softly.
I chuckled, "Oh, so that is why you are still sitting here."
Taehyung's head shot over to look at me, "Oh shut up, can't you just leave it at the praise." He huffed.
I just smiled, amused by the male.
"You're not too cold?" I asked examining his red and black chequered pyjama bottoms, and his plain grey shirt.
I wore a blue scarf around my neck, a white sweater, and grey pants so it was much warmer than Taehyung.
"I'm fine." He muttered.
"Are you sure? You don't want to catch a cold." I said raising my hand to touch Taehyung's forehead to check if he maybe had a chill.
He sighed, grabbing my wrist to pull my arm away from his head.
"Can't you just believe me when I say that I am fine." He whined.
"There's no harm in me checking." I replied as I made eye contact with the male.
I then stood up from the door frame, going over to the linen cupboard that was between the bathroom and the door Taehyung sat at.
I grabbed out a light green sheet before walking back over to Taehyung.
I folded the sheet in half before folding it around his shoulders.
Taehyung didn't reject the sheet as I sat back down beside him.
Fresh cold air inhaled into my lungs before getting exhaled.
Taehyung's breaths beside me matched a similar rhythm.
The sound of tree branches rustling together in the wind could be heard.
I must've scared off the birds as I arrived.
I even walked straight past Taehyung upon arriving without even realising.
"Do you want to go further than here?" I asked after a couple minutes of silence.
"What do you mean by that?" Taehyung asked as he looked over at me, his eyebrows knitting together.
"We could sit in your backyard and enjoy the sound of the birds from there?" I suggested.
Taehyung shook his head as I spoke.
"I cannot." Taehyung said.
"If the problem is the stairs, I can carry you down." I explained to Taehyung.
"No. Please help me stand up." Taehyung stammered.
I stood up, standing down on the step in front of Taehyung to hold out my hands for him.
I helped the male up, his hands in mine before he swiftly changed to grab onto the door frame as he pulled himself back inside his apartment.
I followed the male inside and watched him pull his oxygen cart back into his bedroom.
"Taehyung." I said calmly but he completely brushed me off.
"Leave me alone, Jimin." Taehyung replied as he went and sat down at his desk chair, letting the blanket he had around his shoulders drape back over the back of the chair.
He also placed his coffee mug down against the wall on his desk, leaving it out of his way.
My hand balled up in a fist.
What is he so afraid of?
He does not even need to be alone anymore.
He can finally experience the true beauty in life.
I sighed before marching right over to the man who'd sat down in the spinny black chair.
Carefully, I jumped up to land my bottom on top of his desk to face Taehyung.
Taehyung's golden eyes opened widely as I did so.
"What the fuck- Why would you even sit there?" Taehyung gasped out as I folded my legs to sit in a pretzel shape on top of the desk.
"So you'll see me." I replied.
"Dude, you could've sat on my bed or even on my lap. Both I can see you and are much safer options than this. I don't even know if my desk will be able to hold your weight for very long." Taehyung uttered as he reached his hands under the desk to hold up the desk in case it was to fall.
"I'm pretty sure you'd get more mad if I sat on your lap currently." I gasped out, surprised he'd even given me that option.
"At least I wouldn't have to see you break your fucking tailbone when my desk collapses." He swiftly replied.
"Awww, I didn't know you cared so much." I gushed.
"Yah, I do not!" Taehyung huffed as he let go of underneath of his desk to cross his arms across his chest.
"Anyways, that's not the point of why I sat here. We are getting off topic." Jimin hummed.
"And what was the purpose that seemed more important than breaking your tailbone?" Taehyung asked me with his left eyebrow raised curiously.
"What can I do to get you to go outside with me?" I asked the male.
"Jimin." Taehyung whined.
"Taehyung." I cooed back.
"You know I am going to keep on trying, so if you have a bloody good reason for why you don't want to go outside even though you were curious about the outside world 5 minutes ago, just tell me." I explained.
Taehyung rested back in his chair.
While looking over my face, probably trying to work out how serious I was.
After a minute of silence, Taehyung spoke, "If I like the outdoors, I can only access it with you. I cannot do it by myself. And what happens if I make it outside, and then sometime I want to go further from the backyard and people judge me when they see me out and about." Taehyung said, unloading every thought that came to mind.
"Yeah, but personally you are not ready to face beyond your backyard yet. We could just take it a step at a time." I hummed.
"You don't get it. I only leave this house now when I'm in a critical condition. I don't want a taste of the world when I cannot get my own life back before my sickness. It'd all be like I am too crippled to be me." He muttered, his eyes now gazing down at the ground.
I pouted, "But your garden wouldn't hurt you. Baby steps, we never have to go far, and you can still enjoy your surroundings; Hear the birds sing, hear the bushes whisper, and feel the sun's rays."
Taehyung licked his dry lips nervously as he thought.
"You know, I do like the sound of taking it a step at a time because someday I would love to see my friend again. I don't want to give up on everything I had." Taehyung hummed.
"Then shall we go outside?" I asked hopefully.
"Only if you promise to never leave my side."
True Beauty can be hard to see alone, but those who already see it, can help guide those who don't.
