Taehyung's POV

I followed the nurse to the room Jimin was in.

Once the nurse left I stood in front of the closed door, taking a deep breath.

My out reached hand was shaking as my fingers slowly latched around the knob before finally twisting the door to open it.

I headed inside a small dimly lit hospital room, closing the door swiftly behind me.

Though I'd already caught the sight of Jimin.

He looked pale with many cords attached to his frail body.

Was he dehydrated?

I carefully wandered over to Jimin's side, my hand gently brushing Jimin's hand after missing his touch.

However, Jimin who was resting his eyes now knew I was there with him as he instantly opened his eyes.

"Tae." I heard Jimin's voice softly cooe.

My heart raced, having missed his beautiful soft voice for hours.

"Jiminie." I softly hummed back making the other male smile.

"Can I have a hug?" Jimin asked with a pout forming on his plump lips.

I softly laughed, "Okay." I replied, feeling sparks of excitement rising in my belly.

"Wait, can you help me sit up first?" Jimin asked.

I nodded, helping to position the pillow that was originally under his head to be upright against the headboard, holding one of my hands under his back to help him sit up before he shuffled backwards.

Jimin gave me an adorable smile, his eyes smiling too as he opened his arms for a hug.

I carefully hugged the male, bending over to reach down to his level.

"Did they tell you anything?" Jimin softly whispered near my ear while my hands wrapped gently around his back.

"No." I replied, my hand softly caressing his shoulder blades.

Jimin stayed silent which made me pull back from the hug, "Do you know something that I don't?" I asked him.

Jimin's eye contact shifted away from mine before he nodded.

Jimin took a deep breath before the next few words came out of his mouth.

"Taehyung, grab a chair. You'll want to sit down for this conversation." Jimin mentioned.

I gulped as I walked over to the corner of the room to grab a chair, pushing it towards Jimin's bed with any energy I had left.

I then took a seat on the brown leather chair, patiently looking at Jimin.

Jimin was so silent making me grab his hand again for reassurance.

"Jimin-ah, there's no reason to be nervous. You can tell me anything," I began.

"Plus I literally have cancer. I am sick. I won't judge you for whatever happened to you." I hummed.

"I just feel guilty." Jimin whined, letting go of my hand to hide his face in his smaller hands momentarily.

"Why?" I asked confused.

"Fuck, Tae," Jimin said pausing for a moment as he ran his smaller hands down his face.

"Because I led you to believe you were falling for someone who's healthy." Jimin stammered.

My eyebrows furrowed, "You mean you knew you were unwell?" I asked.

Jimin gazed over at me, watching my facial expression.

"I mean yes and no," Jimin uttered.

"Taehyung, do you know why I came to work with you?" Jimin asked me.

"Erm, because you didn't like the hospital much after your studies here?" I replied uncertainly.

Jimin shook his head before he spoke, "I decided to work for you, not because I didn't enjoy working in the hospital, but because I am a survivor of the exact cancer you have." Jimin explained making my mouth fall open.

"That's why I didn't expect you to remember me from when I brought food from your food truck. I was likely bald and had an oxygen cannula attached to my face." Jimin explained.

"But I know I always visited your truck when I was sick. So the fact you gave me a magnet with your phone number on it even when I was at my worst means more than you could even imagine." Jimin went on.

"That's how you knew to change my oxygen cannula for me during the night?" I gasped out and Jimin nodded.

"And I wrote in my journal article about my lived experience, touching on the smallest part of yours." Jimin explained making me gasp.

No wonder he didn't let me read it yet.

But why didn't he tell me?

"Wait, but this is all your past. You said you were a survivor of cancer." I exclaimed.

"Yeah, but that's why I took time off. I started to get some symptoms and I knew I had to get on top of them quickly. So I got tests done yesterday at the hospital and I was due to hear the results today." Jimin told me making my heart sink.

He didn't tell me because he didn't want to give the illusion he was unwell to me.

"Do you know the results now?" I asked, cocking my eyebrow curiously.

Jimin stuck his tongue into the side of his cheek as he nodded.

"Tae, I am really sorry," Jimin stuttered but I cut him off.

"Jimin, what are the results?" I demanded, my voice sounding cold and desperate.

I just need to know the truth. I deserve to know the truth.

I've just fallen for Jimin and touched him in ways I thought I'd never touch anyone while I was sick. The least he could do is tell me what is going on.

Jimin began nibbling on his lower lip, "Just promise me you won't freak out." Jimin hummed.

"I won't. Jimin-ah, I want to be here for you as much as you were for me," I began.

"Believe it or not, but knowing you are this positive of a person yet went through what I have gone through makes me value you even higher. Nothing could change the way I see you." I stated making Jimins lips turn upwards a little.

There was a moment of silence where Jimin and I just breathed through our nose cannulas, preparing for the news he was about to share with me.

I softly placed my hand in Jimin's, drawing my finger over his palm in circular motions.

"I have Myeloma blood cancer," Jimin began as I sat in silence processing the words that left his mouth.

"Stage 2. I was experiencing some fatigue which is why I didn't wake up so early this morning, I haven't eaten as much either because I've been lacking an appetite. I tried to get you to eat the majority of our dinner last night. I'm not sure if you noticed," Jimin went on as I shook my head.

"But the main reason I decided to come in was because I was feeling some aching in my leg bones and Myeloma is caused in my bone marrow, so it makes sense." Jimin finished explaining.

"What about the shortness of breath?" I asked him.

"I think it's just because my body was going through a lot without treatment." Jimin replied softly squeezing his hand in mine.

"You're so calm." I commented, watching Jimin's reactions.

"Why wouldn't I be calm?" Jimin softly asked, his voice dancing in my mind.

"For someone whose cancer is incurable, I thought you wouldn't be."
