Chapter 5
'I didn't even get his number, so now I have to wait until he texts me.'
As soon as Namjoon thought that, his phone buzzed, but he didn't think it was Jin. He figured it might be Hoseok texting about some hot person he saw, or an email from work so he wasn't in much of a hurry. He walked to his room and undressed, tiredly pulling his pajamas on, the quick hope that it was Jin who texted him flashing through his mind before he shook the thought away. He sat down on his bed, laying back to stretch, when his phone buzzed again.
Deciding to check, despite him feeling that it probably wasn't going to be Jin, he unlocked his phone to see a text from an unknown number. He smiled faintly as he read the messages.
(A/n: The number here is randomly spammed so like, don't try and call it, it's fake.)
18383737373: Hey. It was nice to meet you tonight, Namjoon.
18383737373: Glad you are a fan of my painting. 😉
18383737373: I know this is a little soon but, how does getting
together on Monday night for dinner sound?
Namjoon: That sounds great!
Namjoon: It was great to meet you too, btw,
and yes you looked great in the painting.
Namjoon: If you don't mind me saying that is...
Seokjin: Not at all, lol.
Jin cringed at his reply to Namjoon's text.
'"lol"? Really Seokjin? Really? That's so cringy.'
Jin waited for Namjoon to start typing, but the bubble didn't show up right away, so Jin went into internal panic mode.
'The 'lol' was too cringy... god. What am I going to say now?' Jin face palmed and groaned, feeling stupid for using text slang from like 100 B.C.
On the other end Namjoon was quickly thinking as well. He wanted to be suave and flirty, but he couldn't come up with anything that didn't sound too weird. He went for a simple slightly flirty slightly normal complement, hoping it was enough.
Namjoon: Well then, I'd have to say it was truly amazing.
Namjoon: A true work of art😊
Jin blushed at the slightly flirty words on his screen, and typed quickly, eager to continue flirting with the handsome CEO.
Seokjin: I mean, I am worldwide handsome 😉
Namjoon: Yes, quite.😁
Jin was about to break into giggles. He was as grinning so widely that Taehyung, who was walking by his room, peeked in.
"You okay, hyung?" Jin looked up quickly, and turned off his phone.
"Ah, yes." He awkwardly laughed and stretched. "Just watching a silly cooking video."
Taehyung rolled his eyes and chuckled. "Alright, well I'm going out again. See you tomorrow. If I'm not back, I either crashed at Baekhyun's or... yeah crashed at his place." Taehyung said, rubbing the back of his neck when Jin squinted his eyes. Jin knew that Taehyung liked to go home with guys, and he wasn't a huge fan of that, but he ignored it for the moment and sighed.
"Just be back before noon tomorrow. I have a friend who has a younger brother, and I think you might like him."
"You honestly sound like a mom, hyung. Setting me up for a 'play date'? I'm 22. I can meet guys on my own." Taehyung said, rolling his eyes, but laughed as Jin scowled.
"It's not a-"
"Yeah, yeah, just continue watching your cooking show." Taehyung said, interrupting and teasing his older brother. "I'll be back before noon, you peaked my interest anyways." He said before walking away from Jin's door. After Jin heard the front door close, he turned his phone back on and saw another message.
Namjoon: Honestly, I've never seen another
man as handsome as you.
Jin couldn't believe what he was reading. He knew Namjoon wasn't that drunk, so this was definitely him flirting, but why did it make him feel like a giddy 14 year old? He debated on what he should say back. He wanted to be flirty and yet not creepy at the same time.
Seokjin: Believe me, you're not so bad yourself, Mr. CEO 🤔😉
Namjoon's eyes widened. He hadn't expected Jin to flirt back. Butterflies flitted around in his stomach as he reread the message once, twice, three times. He quickly refuted Jin's comment, not wanting the conversation topic to turn to him.
Namjoon: Ah, but whos the man who was painted?
Seokjin: Well... you have a point.
Seokjin: But I will say, your outfit tonight was quite attractive.
Jin got up to get a glass of water as he waited for a reply. He knew he needed to go to sleep because of an important meeting he had tomorrow, a rehearsal for a song he was going to sing, and his friend coming over, but he lived for the giddy feeling this man gave him; it made him feel... not 26. He looked down at his phone and read the messages that popped up on the screen.
Namjoon: Your's was quite sexy, I must say
Namjoon: That silky black shirt, and those dark, tight pants...
Namjoon at this point was feeling quite confident in himself. There was only a small part of his mind telling him to go back, worried that Jin wouldn't like what he was saying, but he ignored it and anxiously waited for a reply.
Jin on the other hand was dying. He choked on his water on his way back to his room, and almost dropped his phone.
"Damn... he really means business tonight." Jin said aloud, staring at the glowing black words on his screen. He debated on replying with a simple 'mhm I know' but knew that would kill the mood very quickly, so instead he decided to tease back.
Seokjin: Mm but your choker with that low top...
Seokjin: I could see you clearly work out.
Namjoon chuckled at the second part. He did in fact work out, but not as much as he wanted to. He rolled on his bed and looked at the time, seeing it was 12 am. He sighed, knowing he needed to go to sleep or else he wouldn't be able to focus on the work he needed to do in the afternoon.
Namjoon: Yes I do, but only a little...😉😅
Namjoon: And, I'm sorry to suddenly kill the mood.
Namjoon: I have to be able to get up
tomorrow for work or else I'll be a zombie...
and nobody likes that.
Jin looked at his phone and sighed. He knew he needed to sleep too, so he wasn't too sad about Namjoon stopping the conversation suddenly, despite liking where it was going. Even though both were responsible adults and could do what they liked, they had, after all, just met, and it would be unwise to start their friendship like this anyways.
Seokjin: Ha, well zombies, however scary they are, are still pretty cool...
Seokjin: But I understand, I have to get up early for a meeting and a rehearsal anyways.
Seokjin: So yeah, this was fun, and hopefully we can do it again soon 😉😋
Namjoon: Definitely😁😋
Namjoon: And no, Zombies aren't cool, they're unintelligent, brainless and eat people.😂
Namjoon: So sorry to disappoint, but I'd prefer to stay human lol.
Seokjn: Alright, alright, you got me there.
Seokjin: So I guess, goodnight then.
Seokjin: Sleep well!
Namjoon: Yes, goodnight.
Namjoon: You sleep well too!
Namjoon waited a few seconds longer to see if Jin would say anything more, and Jin did the same on his end, but neither man said anything else. They each turned off their phones and set them down, plugging them into their chargers and rolling back into a comfortable sleeping position. The two men, neither being able to see or hear each other, both sighed happily, and closed their eyes, hoping to meet the other in their dreams, neither one having trouble slipping off into well deserved sleep.
