Chapter 2
Namjoon awoke to the sound of his phone ringing, pulling him out of the dream he was having about rapping on a stage. He groaned and grabbed his phone off the charger and opened his eyes just enough to see who was interrupting his awesome dream. The caller ID read Jimin, the cute guy next door that Namjoon had befriended over their shared love for the show Friends. He answered, saying a tired hello into the phone.
"You getting up Joonie?" Jimin's voice came floating through the phone. He opened his eyes and was greeted with the fuzzy image of Jimin's profile picture.
"Yeah, eventually." Namjoon mumbled, rubbing his eyes and sitting up. He yawned and stretched, keeping the phone by his ear, waiting for Jimin to explain the reason for the call, his foggy mind not fully processing everything as he tried to stand.
"You do know it's 12:30, and it's Saturday, right? We were supposed to eat lunch together while watching Friends." Jimin said chuckling, knowing Namjoon had forgotten.
"Oh... oh yeah sorry Jimin. I'll get dressed and you can come on over." His raspy voice said through the phone, making Jimin smile. Namjoon scratched his head and threw on a black t-shirt and jeans. He hung up, telling Jimin to head over and then walked out to his kitchen to whip up some eggs and bacon for brunch for the two of them.
After almost breaking his pan, dropping an egg and almost burning the bacon, Namjoon finally finished making brunch and he and Jimin sat down to watch their show.

"So as I was saying, there is this really cute producer guy I met yesterday." Jimin gushed, the two talking after watching a few episodes.
"Oh? How did you meet him?" Namjoon asked, his mind going to the painting he had been staring at yesterday. He felt embarrassed that he didn't have a story to tell like Jimin did about a real man, knowing that eventually the younger would be asking him about his own love life.
'Ha, what love life?' Namjoon internally huffed. Jimin however, went on with his story, his cheeks turning a light pink, and his eyes lighting up, as he recalled the memory of the quiet, handsome man he had met.
"Well, I was working yesterday, at the company, and apparently he is going to be my new producer." Jimin smiled, looking over at Namjoon with an excited glow. "I bumped into him accidentally and made him drop his music. I was honestly so embarrassed but he just dismissed it easily. When he looked at me it was just like something you'd see in a drama; he had frozen for a second, but then he blinked, nodded and gave a half smile. And that half smile... wahh... it made my heart flutter so badly. If my manager hadn't come by and called my name, I don't think I would have snapped back to reality in time to hear the guy say, 'Sorry, I'll watch where I'm going next time'." Jimin giggled, clenching his small fists and shaking them excitedly by his face. "His voice was kinda rough, but had a deep softness to it. If people could fall in love with voices, I think I would marry his."
Namjoon chuckled and rolled his eyes. "Glad your love life is possibly going somewhere."
Jimin's eyes widened. "Oh! I'm sorry, did I make you feel uncomfortable? I didn't mean-"
"Jimin, relax. I was joking." Namjoon laughed, reassuring his friend.
"Ah I see." Jimin replied, his eyes forming their signature eye-smile. Namjoon smiled back, before getting up and grabbing a bag of chips. In the kitchen, he looked at the clock and sighed. It was already 4 pm.
"Hey Jimin?" Namjoon called out to the living room, where the younger was sitting on the couch and looking at his phone. Namjoon paused, not feeling it in him to ask Jimin to leave, so he quickly thought of a question. He had no idea until suddenly he realized that Jimin hadn't said the producer's name.
"Uhm, what's the guy's name?"
"Min... Yoongi I believe." Jimin said, looking up at Namjoon peeking out of the kitchen. He watched the man's face contort into a focused look and almost chuckled at how serious he looked.
Namjoon squinted, trying to think why the name sounded scarily familiar. He thought back to his teenage years, when he used to rap underground; before he followed his father's path and became a well defined businessman. He remembered a shorter rapper, someone with sharp eyes, and a 'get shit done' attitude. He had gone by the name Gloss on stage, and his real name had been...
"Min Yoongi." Namjoon whispered, remembering his old friend. He remembered jumping around onstage with him, and spending hours writing raps to perform. He remembered the feeling of freedom he had felt, despite going against what his family wanted him to do. Yoongi had helped him get over his anxiety about having to sneak out. Yoongi had helped him cover up his absences to his parents. And Yoongi had been the first guy he had ever liked.
"That's what I said Joonie." Jimin chuckled, interrupting Namjoon's thoughts. "Do you know him?"
Namjoon nodded. "Yeah we used to be friends back in high school."
"Ooh maybe you could set me up." Jimin winked, getting up and dancing into the kitchen where Namjoon was still standing.
"I don't think so. He probably wouldn't remember me." Namjoon chuckled sadly. He of course had moved on, but it didn't make him miss his old friend any less.
"Well it was worth a shot I guess." Jimin said, before he glanced at the clock. "Oh! I need to go! I've got another singer coming over to practice with me."
Jimin rushed out of the kitchen and grabbed his things. "I'll see you either tomorrow or next week." He said before waving and opening the door.
"Have fun, Jimin. See ya." Namjoon laughed, watching his friend disappear quickly out the door.
'*sigh* Well I have about 3 and a half hours until I meet Hoseok.' Namjoon thought, walking with his bag of chips to his office room. 'I guess I can work on some songs or some paperwork.'
He sat down in his comfortable chair, spinning once in it, trying to decide what was the best thing for him to do. He wanted to write a song about the man in the painting, but he also had work to do. Being a CEO for a technology and gaming company was not all fun in games, no pun intended.
'I'm not surprised Yoongi continued in producing. He always was the better writer out of the both of us.' Namjoon thought, turning on his computer, deciding to work on a song. He stared at his computer for a moment, not focusing on anything in particular, and letting a tune fill his mind. He hummed, no words coming to him yet, but he placed his fingers on his keyboard, and played the progression of notes. His recording app on his computer showed the lines that signified the notes he had played. As he played more, the lines danced across the screen, Namjoon dancing his fingers across the piano, until the whole melody was written. He sat back, listened to his work, and sighed.
"I have so much work to do."
