Chapter 33: Bonfire Blitz

Sarah and Josie sat at the dining room table with all three dead pool lists in front of them.  Sarah looks over them several times, sighing and looking over to her nervous daughter.

"It's not just your printer.  Mine in the office was going off since this morning."  Sarah signs.  "What exactly is this?  That's all I want to know.  Ever since we moved here, things have been weird.  Especially, when it comes to Scott being there."

Josie sighs, it's now or never.  She just prays that her mom understands.  Josie begins to sign, "Mom, this is a deadpool list."  She says.

Sarah frowns in confusion, "Deadpool?"

"See the numbers by the names?"  Josie points.  "That stands for how much everyone is worth.  500,000 grand.  5 million."

Sarah looks over and sees names crossed out, very familiar names, like the Walcotts.  And Josie's name.  Sarah gasps and covers her mouth.  "But, why does anyone want to kill you?  or the Walcotts.  Or Scott or Lydia or the rest of these people on this list?"  She signs furiously.

Josie was hesitant, "Cause we're different, Mom."

Sarah slowly leans back against her chair, looking down, 'different'.  Could she....could she mean?  Sarah looks up at her daughter, sadness in her eyes.

"Josie...is this about your father?" She asks.

Josie's breath catches in her throat, "Did...did you know? About what dad was?"  She asks, carefully.

Sarah sighs, anxiously, and laughs dryly, "We've been married for so many years, sweetie.  Secrets weren't kept between us."  She gives her a broken smile.

Josie gasps, "You knew?  You knew all this time?  Why didn't you tell me?  Why did you make me hate him?"  Josie sobs softly.

"I didn't make you hate him, Josie.  I wanted to tell you, but John said it was for the best.  He knew....he knew that anger was the only way.  I didn't understand what he meant.  I didn't know he was going to go so far..." Josie cuts her mom off.

"Why did you lie to me?  Why keep this secret from me?  I had a right to know!" Josie shouts.

"I didn't lie! I wanted to tell you but John said you needed to find yourself.  He said you needed to know.  And that the Hales would have helped you, but after the fire.   I couldn't tell you.  I wasn't even sure what he was talking about.  Do you?"  Sarah says.

Josie wipes her tears and sniffles, "You could have given me a hint.  Or send a freaking bat signal to let me know that I'm an elemental and dad was, too!" She exclaims.

Sarah sighs, "I know.  I know, sweetie.  But, I didn't want to believe it.  I went on hoping it wouldn't happen to you.  I didn't even want to believe that werewolves existed till one nearly killed me."

"What?!" Josie exclaims.

"The wolf that your father was 'mated' to came to our house once here at the old house.  You were just a baby.  She threaten me.  Wanted me to leave John.  I said no, she tried to kill you, too.  Then John stopped her.  He didn't kill her.  He couldn't, he was suppose to be with her, his soul loved her.  She left.  She looked guilty in a way, but happy at the same time."

"Why did she reject dad?"  Josie asks.

Sarah sighs sadly and hesitated...

"Because of you."

Scott arrives at Josie's house and knocks on the door.  He leans in when he hears the sound of soft crying, sniffling.  It was Sarah.  He hears her fumbles around, heads to the door.  She opens the door and her eyes widen at the sight of him.  He looks at her in confusion.

"Ms. Thompson, are you ok?"  He asks, carefully.

Sarah sighs, and gestures him to come in.

Scott slowly walks into the house, frowning at her sadness.  "Josie will be down in a minute." She sniffles and wipes her tears.  She sighs deeply and faces Scott.

"I know." She says.

He freezes as his eyes widen in shock, "Know what?"  he tries to play dumb.

She rolls her eyes, "Calm down, Scott.  I'm not gonna forbid you from dating my daughter because you're a werewolf.  The fact that you two are mates actually stops me from doing that."

Scott's jaw drops and he stutters.

"Josie told me.  Earlier our printers were going out of control printing out copies of the deadpool list, so Josie felt she had no choice but to tell me.  I know everything.  I knew about her dad and his mate.  Everything.  I'm tired of keeping it a secret.  Ever since, we moved her and she met you, it was like seeing my happy daughter again when she was a baby." Sarah smiles warmly.  "You make her so happy and I can see how much she means to you and that you would do anything to protect her."  Her faces switches to serious, "Know this..." She points at him, threateningly.  Scott gulps nervously, "If you ever hurt her in anyway, reject her or get her killed or hurt.  I will put a bullet in you, so help me God."

"I understand, Ms. Thompson.  I'm sorry.  I love Josie more than anything.  Her happiness is my everyday mission."  Scott says.

"Good.  Now, Josie is on that list, and so are you.  Please...please keep each other safe."  Sarah says.

Scott nods and gives her a small smile, Sarah pulls him in for a hug and pats his back, she pulls away, "Don't you dare get drunk at the bonfire and drive on the bike with her on it."

Scott chuckles, "Don't worry.  Werewolves can't get drunk.   Our metabolic systems burn fast."

"That's good.  That's really good." Sarah lets out a breath of relief.

"I'm ready."

Scott and Sarah looks over and sees Josie coming down the stairs.  Sarah gasps in awe as Scott's eyes widen at the sight.  She was a blessed vision.

(Josie's outfit for the bonfire ^^^^)

Her hair was curled, draping over her soft bare shoulders.  He loved the sight of how her hair brushing against her skin as she moves swiftly down the stairs, walking so sexy towards him.

"I guess mom told you she knows?"  Josie asks.

Scott nods, "We're good now.  But when you get home, we still need to talk more. "  Sarah says.

"Ok.  I love you, mom."  Josie hugs her mom.

"Love you too." Sarah signs.  "Ok, you two, have fun." She turns to Scott. "Be safe."

When Josie and Scott arrived at the bonfire,  it was packed.  Dancing, drunk teenagers everywhere and loud dance music coming from the DJ booth.  Together, they walked hand in hand in the crowd of teens. Josie looks over and giggles as she sees Malia dancing with a flask in her hand. She taps Scott's shoulder and points to where Malia was. Scott frowns and they walked over to her.

"Hey." Scott says. Josie waves. "What are you doing here?"

"Getting drunk. What are you doing?"

"Trying to make sure no one gets hurt."

"That sounds fun too." Malia says, sarcastically and continues to drink. She holds the flask out for Josie.

"Nah, I don't need to get drunk to have fun." Josie shakes her head.

"I don't want to ruin your night or anything, but we kind of can't get drunk." Scott says.

"What?" Malia looks disappointed.

"I think it has something to do with our healing. But, trust me, I've tried. You're not gonna feel anything." Scott says.

"Maybe you should tell him that." Malia points over at Liam who was constantly pouring hard liquor into his soda and guzzling it down.

Scott sighs irritated, but Josie pulls on his hands to a spot, "Come on. Let's enjoy ourselves. Liam will figure it out eventually." Josie says and starts dancing silly in front of him. Scott laughs at how silly she looked and joined her. Josie laughs out loud at how funny Scott dances, then winches when her hearing aid sends a loud sound. Something must be irritating it. She turns it down a little, that seemed to help.

Liam pours more liquor into his soda bottle and Mason brows shoot up at how much he's drinking.

"Not gonna tell me to slow down?" Liam sighs.

"Actually, I was gonna say, 'Keep drinking'. I think you should get drunk. And I mean stumbling down, fall on your ass, passed out with your face in a toilet drunk." Mason over-exaggerates.

Liam chuckles, "Why?"

"Maybe then when I ask you what's going on, you'll be too drunk to lie." Mason says. Liam frowns and looks down. "I'm not asking this because I want to know. I'm asking because I want to help." Mason sighs.

Liam looks over to see Scott dancing like an idiot with Josie who was just as silly as Scott and Malia was dancing and drinking with a flask, stumbling a little.

"I'm gonna get another drink." Liam says as he gets up and stumbles just a little and throws his soda bottle down. He smirks as he feels the buzz going through his body, "Yeah I'm getting drunk."

Scott stops and looks at Malia and sighs, "We have to talk to her. About Peter." Scott tells Josie. Josie sighs, but nods and turns to Malia, still dancing and drinking.

"We just want to talk." He says.

"Well, I just want to dance." Malia scoffs.

"We had our reasons. We didn't tell you about Peter..." Scott says.

"To protect me." Malia cuts Scott off. "That's what Peter said you would say.  And guess what he said next? That you were right. Does that surprise you?"

Scott frowns, "No. It makes me wonder what he wants. Malia, we need to stay together.  You, me, Josie, Stiles..."

"I don't want to talk about Stiles." Malia says bitterly, now Josie was concerned. "I just want to dance." She sighs. "And get drunk." She salutes the flask then stumbles down on the ground, but Scott and Josie catches her before she fell.

"Malia...Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!" Scott exclaims and holds her up.

Malia starts laughing hard. Josie looks over to Scott, worriedly, "What's wrong with her?"

Scott looks at her closely, "You are drunk." He says.

Malia giggles drunkenly, "Yep."

"But you can't be." Scott says, confused.

"I thought you said werewolves can't get drunk?" Josie asks.

"We can't. I don't know why she is." Scott looks over and sees Liam just as drunk. Josie follows his eyes and frowns.

"Is this what drunk feels like? It doesn't feel as good as I hoped." She looks a little green.

"I don't think it's supposed to." Scott says.

The party starts to get louder and Josie winces, "Ah!" Gripping her ears.

Scott grabs her, looking at her worriedly, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing. My hearing aids are acting weird. Something is interfering with the frequency." Josie says and turns her hearing aids down more.

Malia starts to sway from side to side, her vision getting blurry.

"Malia..." Scott looks down at her flask and grabs it, smelling it, "What's in this? What did you have to drink?"

"Just vodka." She says, her words slurring a little.

Scott looks up and sees a man looking over at the three of them. Josie looks up and sees him, "Do you think...?" She asks him. He nods and helps Malia.

"Stay on your feet and keep moving." Scott says as he and Josie helps her to the bench where Liam was with Mason. Scott goes off to get them water as Josie helps them sit down.

"Malia?" Scott hands her a bottle of water. Josie helped her sit up while Scott tended to Liam, Liam was swaying back and forth, "How much has he have to drink?"

"Not enough to get him like this." Mason exclaims.

"Something's happening. We need to get them out of here. I think we're gonna have to, um..." Scott starts to sway a little. He looks down at his hand and sees his vision getting blurry.

Josie watches him with worry.

"How much did you drink?" Mason asks.

"Nothing. Not even a sip." Scott says. He leans on the bench for support as the world seems like it was spinning.

"He's telling the truth. I was with him the entire time. We never had a drop." Josie says.

A loud high pitch sound makes Liam, Malia, and Scott winch. Scott looks over to Josie. The noise came from her hearing aids. Josie yanks out her hearing aids, "God!" She exclaims in pain.

Scott finally figures it out as he looks over to the DJ booth, he watches the DJ spin the disks but pushing up a button higher and higher, "It's not the drinks. It's the music."

Scott gets up and stumbles, Josie catches him. He squeezes her hand, and pushes her away gently, "I have to...I have to turn off the music." He stutters as his words slurr. He turns to Mason, "Don't let them out of your sight." He starts to walk towards the DJ booth.

Mason and Josie help Malia and Liam. Josie looks up and sees Scott stumbling on his knees as the DJ smirks at him. She gasps when two men grab Scott and start to drag him off. She starts to run towards him, then sees two others take Malia and Liam away.

"Wait, Stop." Mason protests.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Josie exclaims.

"These are our friends." Mason says.

"Your friends are overly intoxicated. They need to be escorted out."

"Okay, we'll go with them." Mason says. But the guard stops them both.

"That won't be necessary." He says.

"I said they're my friends..." The guard cuts Mason off with a hard shove to the ground and they take off with Liam and Malia. Josie helps him up along with two other teenagers.

"You okay, man?" One of the boys asks him.

Josie watches the guards take Liam and Malia away, "Mason, turn the music off. Do whatever you have to do. We'll explain later. Just do it!" Josie shouts and starts to run to follow the guards.

The guards drag Scott into the school and throws him down on the ground next to Liam and Malia who were both unconscious.

Scott watches one of the guards grab a gas container, "What is that? What are you doing?" He slurrs out.

"It's gasoline." The guard smirks and pops the top off. "Haigh says we gotta burn you." He starts to poor the gas all over Scott and Malia and Liam.

Josie runs as fast as she could through the crowd and reaches the doors. She looks through the small window and sees the guards pouring gas all over Scott and the others. He throws the container away and gets a lighter out, Scott tries to get up but the guard kicks him in the chest. Josie feels her powers rise as anger builds inside her. She watches the guard flick the lighter on and she concentrated on the gas, it was liquid, maybe she could....the guards laugh wickedly, but the one holding the lighter frowns as he sees the gas dancing over Scott's skin. Josie pushes as hard as she could and with a yell, the gas jumps off Scott and others and on to the guards instead. The bald guard was quick enough though to shut the lighter off. They shout in surprise and spit the gas out of their mouths. Josie runs into the school, she stops as she sees guns pointed at her.

"Gas spill, sparks from guns. Not a good combination, boys." She says.

They all looked at each other and their clothes and put their guns away, "Well, we don't need guns to take care of you." One drags out a knife.

Josie calls for the fire inside her and her arms begin to blaze. The guards stop in their tracks and look at Josie in horror.

"Like I said. Gas. Spark. and messing with a mated bitch, not a good combination." Josie growls.

Outside, Mason runs towards the DJ booth and tries to get the DJ to shut the music off, but he just turns it up louder. Mason frowns in shock, 'What is going on?' So Mason goes around and starts yanking the plugs out. The music slows down to a complete stop. Several teenagers groan and boo.

Scott snaps his red eyes open as he starts to feel better quickly. He gets up and grabs the bald guard's hand and twists it, making him drop the knife. He pushes the guard away till he slams against the lockers. The other guards run to help till a figure comes out of the shadows. Two figures. More guards pop up from the other doors and Josie turns towards them. Forcing her fire element down, she calls the winds to blow them out of the hallways and out the door.

Josie turns and sees that one of the figures was Derek. Him and a woman both fight the guards till they were all knocked out.

"What happened to the gun?" Scott asks.

"You were covered in gasoline." Derek scoffs.

"Oh, yeah."

Josie sighs in relief and helps Liam and Malia up.

"Who's she?" Josie asks, motioning over at Braedon's way.

"Josie, meet Braedon." Derek says.

Braedon turns towards her and smirks. Josie gives her a small wave, "Glad you guys could help."

"Peter wasn't lying...you are powerful. Never seen an elemental in action before." Josie frowns, "Peter had me do the background check on you." Braedon says.

"Why?" Scott asks.

"I don't know why, but he's very interested."
