I'm hoping
That you'll leave me wide open
And the leaves will litter the carpet,
And some crew
Will come in here
To steal from me,
Don my jewelry,
Scatter photos
Of a life
Of a love,
And maybe I'll feel grander this way,
Leave an imprint
And a pathway for cigarette smoke
And broken bottles
And hands that smell like beer.
The heat of the day
Reminds me
Of when the kitchen ceiling
Set on fire,
And it was no accident,
Although I think it
Gives the newcomers
Bad vibes,
And they leave that part shut off.

The closet only holds
Few items now,
I haven't been here for awhile
And I left all the retro shit
To your devices.
Holes in the elbows
And padded curtains.
The cops won't find you here,
And you won't find anything
For the cops here, either.
Dig through my drawers
And take home gifts,
Based on terrible morality
In the eyes of the law
But I was only inviting you in,
Telling you to come
See what's in store.
VHS tapes
And RC vehicles,
You couldn't take those as easily,
I suppose.
As a stand still
I am a giver,
And I absorb every
Scent
Voice
Story
Love
Hidden behind the walls.
I'll keep everything safe for you,
Just don't leave me too empty,
Would you?

The reasons you left are unknown,
But I know why the bills stay unpaid
And the cars gone
And I'm not
Home.
But I thank you for not letting me close.

I put my kicks up on your dash,
And we waste time
Outside the house,
Where the weeds grow too high.
Golden hour
And I think maybe I've caught
Bliss on my tongue.
I miss you,
But I've got others to bide my time with,
And sun to swim in,
The world to walk through.
So take the long way home with me,
You forget your shoes at the stairway
And I connect so much
That I'm full of pieces
That will never go together.
The sun drifts to sleep,
All easy,
And I want to stay awake and
Watch everything from the street
With you.
