Chapter 1

It was the third time I went past the same street and I was starting to get really frustrated. One would think that an advert would make it easy for people to find your place, but nooooo! I was starting to get tired of seeing the same losers all the time doing... questionable things.

Half an hour later, I managed to find the tall, red building with a big sign at the top that read: HAZBIN HOTEL in big letters. I took a deep breath and hesitated before ringing the bell. Finally, I decided to go for it. No backing out now.

Ding dong

Nothing happened.

Ding dong!

Nothing.

Seriously? I knocked furiously on the door. To my surprise, the door was slightly ajar and it opened when I pushed it, letting me see why no one had answered. There was a missing wall, courtains on fire, demons running around either in panic or trying to help. It was absolute chaos.

I stood there, frozen, not really knowing what to do. I knew this was going to be a bad idea. I turned around to go my way, when I heard a voice louder than the others.

"Wait! Please, wait!"

I turned around to see no other than the princess of Hell herself. She looked stressed, but she was trying to hide it. Her blonde hair was messy and her red jacket had black holes from the smoke, but by her smile you wouldn't have said her hotel was falling apart.

"Good morning," I greeted.

"Would you like a room, ma'am?"

A piece of ceiling fell to the floor.

"Uh, no thank you. I was just leaving."

"Charlie, sweetie, what's going on? We need you for-" a guy with a big hat, dressed in white and red stopped when he saw me. "Who is this?"

"A new resident for the hotel!" Charlie said excitedly.

"Oh, wonderful!"

"Actually, no I-" I was really regretting this.

A lamp fell with a loud bang. Was everyone just going to ignore that?

"I am Lucifer Morningstar. Welcome to the Hazbin Hotel!"

"Wait- Lucifer? As in king-of-hell Lucifer?" I frowned.

"That's the one," he said.

"Sorry, I just didn't imagine you like this... You know, from the stories..."

"Right," he said, slightly annoyed. "And you are...?"

"Y/n l/n."

"Charlie, please make sure miss l/n is comfortable." And with that, Lucifer, the king of Hell, left.

"I am sorry, I didn't mean to offend him," I apologized to Charlie. So much for redeeming myself.

"It's ok, miss l/n. He just doesn't like talking about that."

"Oh."

"I'd show you to your room, but um well... we're not at our best moment, I hope you understand." Charlie gave me an apologetic smile. "I am so glad to finally have another guest. My plan will work!"

"I was indeed impressed when I saw what you were trying to do. I do hope it works. Oh, and you can call me y/n."

Charlie smiled. "Thank you, y/n. I am sure I'm gonna need all the hope and luck I can get. I'm Charlie. I should go to help, I'll see you around!"

I got closer to the place where it looked like you could get a drink. For once, I was not the responsible of the mess and I refused to clean it. Much to my dismay, there was no one around, so I chose to wait for the bartender. Soon enough, a cat with big eyebrows and a grumpy face got a glass of water.

"Can't a lady get a drink around here?" I asked.

He looked me up and down, more judgingly than seductively. "The name's Husk. Husk. Not Husky or any similar shit. I don't care what your name is. You are gonna get your ass to work and help us. You'll get something later."

"Aren't you a ray of sunshine," I said sarcastically, but he showed no signs of hearing me.

He left without another word. I wasn't even mad. I was bored anyway, so I walked around taking down the burnt courtains. I wished I could play some music, but all I could listen to were the shouts of the demons around trying to clean the mess. What had even happened here?

I got bored of the curtains and went looking for a broom. I quickly saw a half broken one on the floor. It would do. I picked it up, but a little demon took it from me without giving me time to react. She straightened her cute little dress and stared at me with her big only eye.

"Hi?" I waved awkwardly.

"This is mine now, I'm in charge of the dust," she smiled and left running.

I chuckled and went back to the curtains.

"Well, well, well, lookie who we have here," said a voice behind me I knew very well.
