5: First Encounters

"Free! At last!" Sirius yelled, running down the corridor earning some strange looks from the older years.

"Yea, free for an hour then we have double potions with the Slytherins." I laughed as Sirius glared at me.

"Don't ruin my mood." He scolded, James chuckled.

"She's got a point. And besides I don't understand why your so happy about getting out of lessons." Peter sniffed, crossing his arms over his chest.

"It was HISTORY OF MAGIC!" Sirius exclaimed, waving his arms around wildly as Peter rolled his eyes.

"I happen to like History of Magic." Peter grumbled, glaring at Sirius and James.

"Careful, you'll end up like Remus." James joked, grinning over at the taller boy who laughed, shaking his head and looked down.

"Hey Remus isn't that bad! At least he's better than you." You grinned, as all the boys erupted in laughs watching James pretend to look offended, clutching his chest.

"You wound me! I am so greatly upset!" James exclaimed, pretending to cry.

"Great, now look what you've done, El! You've made the baby cry!" Sirius sighed, patting James on the back, "It's okay mate, I thought you where used to being roasted by girls." Sirius continued, causing James to glare at him.

"Come on, let's go before one of the other students decide to hex us for making so much noise." Felix stated as the five of us started to descend the stair case.

We entered the Great Hall and sat down at the Gryffindor table. I grabbed a pice of stake, then plied some chips onto my plate and added some carrots, peas and broccoli, then started to dig into my lunch.

"Hungry much?" Sirius asked, an eyebrow raised.

"Starving." Felix and I said at the same time. I looked over at at him to see his mouth was stuffed full with food, his plate piled high.

"Where did you get those?" I asked, pointing at the Yorkshire pudding. Felix pointed at a bowl a little ways down the table. I rapidly got up and grabbed a couple of them and sat back down.

"I'm guessing you like Yorkshire puddings." James laughed as I nodded happily.

"Hey Remus?" I asked, the scared boy to my left looked up.

"Yea?"

"Can you do that spell that you where telling me about earlier?" I questioned.

Remus thought for a moment, "I could try, but I haven't quite got it right yet." He replied, pulling out his wand.

"What's this?" James asked, looking at Remus and I.

"Remus was telling me about this spell he read about and he thought it would be a good idea for out next prank." I answered.

"Oh. Come on then, let's see it." Sirius said, leaning forward slightly.

Remus took a pea off his plate and placed it on the middle of the table, he then pulled out his wand, pointing it at the pea he said, "Cantis."

The pea suddenly came to life, it swelled lightly then a small mouth appeared, it began to sing.

"Some where, over the rainbow! Way up high!" The peas sharp high voice rang through the air, causing many of the students to look around to find the source of the voice.

"How do you shut it up?" Peter asked franticly, trying to cover the pea by placing a goblet over it which made no effect.

"Silencio." Remus muttered, wand pointed at the pea. It stopped singing and remained still.

"I hope your not getting into to much trouble." A voice said behind us, a voice I recognised. I turned around to see my older brother, Theo, stood there, towering over us a smirk plastered onto his face.

"Hey Theo." I said, in what I thought was an innocent voice.

"Your Theo? Theo Blackwood?" James gasped, I glared at him.

"Ah so the twins have mentioned me." Theo answered, grinning at Felix and I.

"Thanks James." Felix muttered.

"Way to fuel his ego." I added, glaring at the table as Theo laughed. Felix and I looked up at him grinning, jokily rolling our eyes.

"Anyway, I'm headed down to Hogsmeade in a couple of days so I was wondering if you two wanted anything?" Theo asked, putting his hands in his pockets.

"Can we write a list and give it to you later?" Felix ask.

"Sure, just make sure to give it to me today or tomorrow, not a day later." He replied as we nodded.

"Thanks." We said as Theo grinned and walked off the the Slytherin table.

"I can't believe we just met Theo Blackwood!" James exclaimed excitedly, Felix and I sent James a strange look.

"And what, may I enquire, is so amazing my brother?" I asked, crossing my arms over my chest.

"He is the best beater in the school! And he is only in his fifth year!" James exclaimed, making whiled hand gestures.

"Shame he's not in Gryffindor." Sirius sighed and began eating again, "Anyway that spell was brilliant!"

"Have you finished fangirling over my brother yet?" I asked as James playfully glared at me.

The rest of our lunch break was spent discussing how we could use the spell in our next prank.

-

"Oh crap! Guys we're five minutes late for potions!" Felix exclaimed, sitting up. I checked my watch.

"We are as well. And by the time we get up to Gryffindor tower, get our stuff and go to the dungeons we will be at least fifteen minutes late!" I added as the six of us ran up the grassy slopes and towards the castle.

We ran up the marble stair case and soon arrived at the portrait of the fat lady, "Running a bit late aren't we?" She stated, raising an eyebrow.

"Goose wing." Peter wheezed, he was doubled over, hands on knees and breathing deeply.

"Alright, go on in." She said as she swung forward. We rushed into the Gryffindor common room and ran to our dorms.

I franticly looked around the room for my potions book, "Come on, come on. Where are you?" Then I spotted my potions book, "Found ya!" I cried, grabbing the book and running off down stairs with it.

"Hurry up guys!" I called from the common room up to the boys dorms, suddenly Remus appeared, potions book clutch in hand. About ten seconds later Peter and Felix arrived, followed by James and Sirius who, very ungracefully, fell down the stairs, landing on top of each other.

Felix, Remus, Peter and I all burst into laughter as James and Sirius untangled themselves from the mess of limbs.

"Haha, very funny." Sirius rolled his eyes as he got up, "Let's go, we're already ten minutes late." Peter squeaked, hurrying towards the portrait hole, the rest of us in close pursuit.

We burst into the potions classroom, all panting and sweaty, since we ran from the Gryffindor common to the dungeons.

"And why are you all twenty minutes late to my lesson?" Professor Slughorn asked causing the whole class to turn around and stair at us. I caught a glimpse of Malfoy smirking and whispering something to one of his friends.

"Sorry professor, we lost track of time." Remus huffed, straightening up.

"Ten points from Gryffindor, sit down." Professor Slughorn answered, turning back to whatever potion he was making.

I sat down at a table and Felix was just about to sit down next to me when Slughorn spoke up again.

"Mister Blackwood, I don't think that it's the best idea for you to sit next to your sister,"

"And why is that?" Felix asked, crossing his arms over his chest.

"This is due to that fact that when you and your sister are put together you have a tendency to blow up your work." Sighed Slughorn.

"Well that's usually his fault." I piped up, jabbing a thumb in Felix's direction.

"It most certainly is not." He argued, raising an eyebrow at me.

"That's rubbish. Who was it that put the frogs l-" I started but I was cut short.

"Calm down the pair of you. Mister Lupin, go sit next to Miss Blackwood and you Mister Blackwood go sit next to Mister Pettigrew." Slughorn said.

Felix walked off to sit next to Peter while Remus came and sat next to me.

"I do hope that Mister Lupin will reduce your explosive tendencies Miss Blackwood." Slughorn spoke again, most of the class erupted into fits of giggles.

"Doubt it sir." I replied.

-

"What do we have next?" James asked as the six of us exited the potions classroom.

"We have Transfiguration but it starts in about fifteen minutes so I think we ought to go up to the common room and get our books." I answered while entering the entrance hall and began to climb the marble stairs.

"Yeah, best not be late for one of Mcgonagall's lessons, she'll take ten points away from all of us." Sirius added.

"Yes, I think that would be wise." Remus added.

"Oh look Felix, it's Stuck up Steve and his friends." I pointed out, the other boys gave Felix and I odd looks.

"Who?" James asked

"He's the head boy of Hufflepuff, he introduced him self to us on the train and was rather stuck up." I explained.

"Hummm." Sirius mused, a slight smirk forming on his face.

"Oh no." Remus sighed.

"Oh yes." Felix, James, Sirius and I said at the same time.

Felix pulled two dungbombs out of his pocket and handed James the other. Together the two boys pulled out their wands and prodded the bombs with them, then they threw the down the corridor in the direction of where Steve was stood.

Both bombs flew through the air and landed at Steve's feet, then exploded.

"Time to go." I whispered and started running down the corridor, the other boys pulling up next to me.

We could hear Steve's shouts as we turned the corner laughing and still running.

As we turned the corner which led to another corridor James bumped into someone.

"Watch where your going." Snapped a greasy, black haired boy with a hooked nose. I suddenly recognised him as the boy from the boat, the boy Lily was sitting next to.

"Wow, sorry. I didn't see you." James apologised, turning to look at the others and I, to which we all shrugged.

"That's no excuse to be so obnoxious." The boy spat.

"Oh come on Severus, the boy said he was sorry." Lily said, stepping up to stand next to Severus.

"Lily? Why are you hanging out with a Slytherin?" James asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Why does it matter that he is a Slytherin." Lily asked, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Well for one they are all snivelling cowards." James laughed.

"At least I'm not an arrogant prat." Severus spat, glaring at all of us.

"Okay, calm down Snape." I said, stepping forward slightly, trying to calm the two boys down.

"Shut it, blood traitor." He hissed.

Anger boiled in my veins as I clenched my fists, "What did you just say?" I asked, my voice deadly calm but full of venom.

"I said that you are a blood traitor. I know both your mother and brother are in Slytherin so that makes you a traitor along with the fact that you hang around mudbloods." Snape snapped.

I launched forward but was stopped by James and Felix who had grabbed my arms, holding me back.

"Your hanging out with a muggle born."  James spat, gesturing to Lily, who just stood there looking from Snape to me.

"She's the only good one." Snape replied.

Once again I tried to launch forwards but was pulled back by James and Felix.

"Come on lets go." Sirius said, glaring at Snape.

"Look who's the coward now, Blackwood. Having your friends now, violence isn't the way forward." Snape smirked.

"This isn't over Snivellus." I spat as James and Felix turned me round and frog marched my away.

"I could have tried that new hex out on him, it would have been so funny." I complained, as the boys steered me towards the Gryffindor common room.

"What, and get a months detention?" Sirius scoffed, "He wasn't worth it."

"Well, at least we have found our main prank victim." James grinned.

"True." Felix added.

"But how could he call muggles mudbloods?!" I exclaimed, anger rising once again.

"Because he is a snivelling grease ball who needs to be taught a lesson." James answered.

"I think we can all agree on that." Remus chimed in.

"Anyway, for now, lets just focus on not losing anymore points for Gryffindor." Sirius sighed.
