Chapter Three : Dinner Treat

Vineet reaches home and finds the door locked. That means Ruhana is away with Samrat. He unlocks the door with his key and enters the house. He keeps his bag on the couch and moves into the kitchen to get a glass of water for himself. At the same time, he receives a message. He opens the message and frowns. It's Ruhana's message, and she is asking him to meet at their favorite Chinese restaurant.

"Eh! Now I have to go out again. Not again! She should be home by now! But why? She has her friend by her side. " he frowns.

He remembers how she was laughing at Samrat's joke and didn't even say bye to him. Moreover, they had an argument in the morning. He sighs. He has to be formal and go for dinner. He can't let her friend think bad about him. Moreover, Samrat is her best friend. He takes a deep breath, freshens up, changes into casuals and leaves the house after twenty minutes. He reaches the restaurant Ruhana informed him about.  It's called "Rainbow Beanery & Bar"

This restaurant is also on Ruhana and Vineet's favorite list. It serves the best of all cuisines. Vineet enters inside and finds Samrat and Ruhana already seated on a corner table. He could see them talking and laughing. He makes his way towards them and is astonished to find many shopping bags and a teddy bear securing  the chair near Ruhana. He greets Samrat with a light smile and takes his seat beside Ruhana.

"You're late." She says.

"Main ghar se aaya hoon and you know Mumbai ka traffic. " Vineet replies making a face.

"I thought tum office se directly aaoge. Isliye message kiya tha." She says.

"You could have called me." Vineet says while eyeing her.

"Why today? Roz toh tum mera phone uthate ho nahi, toh maine nahi kiya. Ab har baar main hi kyun pehel karun?" she raises her eyebrows at her husband.

Vineet sighs. She is right. She always calls him in the evening, but he never picks up or even if he picks up, he just tells her that he is on his way home. So forth, she didn't care to call him tonight. His trance is broken by Samrat's voice.

"Everything alright, Princess?" he asks.

"Haan! Don't worry. By the way, you are paying for tonight." She says while looking at Samrat.

"Han! Tu toh ek hi din mein mujhe kangaal karne wali hain." Samrat says making a face.

Ruhana laughs.

"Of course!! Mera haq hai wo. Waise bhi meri shadi par tum they nahi, so it's your penalty." She says and the giggles.

Samrat makes a serious face and then looks at Vineet.

"Vineet! Apni biwi ko sambhalo yaar. Kitna kharcha karvati hai ye ladki" he says.

Ruhana glares at both the guys and slaps on Samrat's hand.

"Vineet ko kuch nahi bolo tum. Wo kaise sambhalega, wo toh khud ko hi sambhalte rehta hai." She says while eyeing him.

He sighs. He knows that all her words are for him. He loves her, but he fails to show his love. For him, his life, his problems matter. Meanwhile, the dinner is served. Vineet is surprised that the meal is a combination of Italian and Indian cuisines. He is surprised that the Italian menu is all his favorite. He looks at her and she smiles lightly.

"it was Sammie's idea to order both cuisines. Now let's have it, I am hungry. " She says cutely such that both Vineet and Samrat laugh.

"Don't act like a baby, Ruu!" it's Samrat who chides her.

"Why shouldn't I? Ab tum mere sath ho toh you're bound to do everything that I say." Ruhana says.

"Oye! Teri baat sunne ke liye Vineet bound hai, main nahi, samjhi!!" Samrat snaps at her.

Ruhana makes a face at him.

"No! Vineet toh kuch samajhta nahi hai. At least tum toh samjho." She says.

Vineet looks at her in surprise. Did she tell everything to Samrat? Did she tell him that they were having an argument when he came? Or did she tell him that he is not giving her the time? His trance is broken by Ruhana's voice.

"Don't stare at me. Maine jo kaha sach kaha!" She says.

Vineet knows that it's for him. They start having their food. Samrat is surprised to taste the scrumptious food.

"This is yummy!! Ah! I crave for such delicious food." he says.

"Who asked you to go to USA for two years?? I didn't. Ab door jaoge toh craving hogi hi." Ruhana eyed him.

Samrat laughs.

"Point to be noted. Tujhse baaton mein koi nahi jeet sakta." he says raising his hands in the air.

Ruhana chuckles while raising her collars, actually invisible one's. Samrat laughs at her and they finish their dinner with the usual banter. Vineet was a silent spectator between the two friends. Samrat glances at the poor soul and looks at Ruhana.

"Kuch Vineet ko bhi bolne do. See, how silent he is.". He says.

"Let him be silent. Agar wo bolega toh kaam ki hi baat karega. He can't talk about something other than his work." Ruhana replies making a face.

"Arey yar! Itna bhi blame mat karo usey." Samrat says.

Somehow, he feels that Ruhana is taunting Vineet. He doesn't know if it is right, but he feels that Vineet has been silent since he joined them. His trance is broken with Vineet's voice, and he finds him paying the bill.

" Arey! This is my treat. I'll pay!" Samrat says.

Vineet smiles at him.

"No! Tum hamare guest ho, Ruhana ke dost ho, how can I let you pay? This treat is from my side. After all aaj Ruhana bhi bahut khush hai." he says while looking at his wife.

Samrat opens his mouth to speak something but Vineet shushes him and makes the payment. Layer, the trio make their way out of the restaurant. They make their way home, and all the time, it's Ruhana who is talking, not with him, but with Samrat. Vineet smiles lightly. Maybe, along with her friend, she just have forgotten the banter that they had in the morning. Amongst all the thoughts, they reach home. Ruhana and Samrat make their way into the flat and Vineet follows them after parking the car.

As he enters inside the flat, he finds Ruhana showing the guestroom to Samrat and after keeping essential things in the room, and making sure that her friend is fine, she makes way into their bedroom. She moves into the washroom to freshen up and change, while vineet, who's already changed into nightwears, he takes his place on the bed. Ruhana comes out of the washroom and holds the soft toy that Samrat gifted her. She keeps it by her side and then slids on her side of the bed. Vineet smiles at her..

"I didn't know, you love soft toys!" he says, trying to initiate a talk.

"Tumne kabhi jaanne ki koshish hi nahi ki. Ya yun kahoon ki koi gair-zaruri baat nahi karte tum. " Ruhana smiles.

He looks at her in surprise. She smiles lightly at him.

"Acha, ab tum bhi rest karo. Main bhi thak gayi hoon. Aaj bahut ghumi na samrat ke sath, isliye. Kal jaldi jaagna hai. Aur Kal ek client ke sath meeting bhi hai meri. Good night. " She says and lies on the bed holding the teddy bear.

Vineet stares at her. He's stunned with her words. She's never been like this, no matter how hard day she has or how tired she is, she always listened to him. But he didn't do so. Some similar words echo in his mind. He used to say that he's tired and never engaged in a conversation with her. He sighs and lies down on the bed hoping all of this to end, once Samrat will go from here.

To Be Continued.

Ruhana is happy being with Samrat.

Her words are making Vineet remember his words which he said to her.

And how will Vineet deal with this situation, when Ruhana is only thinking about her best friend?

Stay tuned.
