Looking at her, Autumn just brought back what she did to me. Did she remember? Probably not, I meant nothing to her. I wasn't the only victim of her pranks.
"Seriously, you're still staring?" She said in that I couldn't give less a fuck tone that she always seemed to use.
Was I staring at her? I don't know. I would look at her for a split second and then flashbacks would hit me, causing me to 'stare' at her. She probably has an even worse impression of me then she did before.
Not like she would even remember me though, despite me knowing of her for her entire secondary school. After all, she did ask Mr Homme: "Where even is this Alex guy?" As if she had never heard of me in her entire life.
Maybe she thought it was cool, but I just thought it was plain rude. Autumn probably couldn't care less of what I thought, however. Of course I'm going to think it's rude, after what she did to me.
She placed her bony hand on my forearm, shaking it slightly. "Honestly," She laughed, "What is up with you?"
"Hey, Alex," Autumn smiles brightly.
"Uh, hello," I replied, slightly confused that she decided to talk to me. We never talk.
"Don't look so shocked. I just wanted to talk to someone," She replied, running her hand through her soft auburn hair.
"You have friends, though," I state, still confused.
"I don't know, I've heard that you're really nice to talk to."
"Oh," I say, rubbing my neck awkwardly.
"Hey!" She exclaims, out of the blue. "Why don't we sit here?" She asks, gesturing towards the brown bench beside us. I nod, letting her sit before myself.
"So," I say, bringing back the awkward atmosphere, "What did you want to talk about?" I asked, not wanting to sound rude.
Autumn blushes, and I swear, that it's almost cute. With her head bowed down a little, a half smile on her face, and a rosy shade taking over her cheeks.
An icy silence fills the atmosphere, as I wait patiently for her to answer.
"I'm sorry," she says, "I can't tell you."
I'd never seen Autumn like this. So vulnerable, so quiet, so shy. I've seen her bold, I've seen her acting as though she was made out of steel. She acted so tough that she made a wrestler look weak.
"Oh," I say again, standing up. I rub my neck again, "I guess I'll go then. It was nice talking to you," I say with a smile.
Before looking at her reaction, I begin to walk but she grasps my wrist, tightly. She completed that action with such confidence, but when I turned to face her it seemed as though all of that confidence drained right out of her in less of a second, right before my eyes.
Slightly loosening her grip, she blushes again before tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. What is up with that? Why is she acting like this? Why is she acting so cute, so beautiful so-
Wow, I need to stop myself.
"I'll just tell you," She giggles shyly, "Um, I really like you."
"Yeah, you're nice too," I smile.
"No," She blushes, "I mean, I like you. I want to kiss you, I want to leave hickeys all over your neck, I want to cuddle you in moonlight, I want-"
Autumn stops herself.
My eyes threatened to pop out of my fucking head. Autumn? Autumn likes me? As in, Autumn Chloe Radford? What? What? Autumn Chloe Radford, as in total badass hot girl, who has no time for anyone? Who'd do anything?
"Really," I breathe.
Autumn licks her lips and nods.
I open my mouth to respond, but she places a finger on my lip. "Can I just do one thing, before you speak?"
I gulp.
She removes her finger from my mouth and takes a deep breath. Placing two hands on the nape of my neck, she kisses me slow. This may sound like the stupidest thing in the whole wide world, but her mouth against mine just made me feel like something was right.
With time I kiss her back just as slow, but with passion. My hands rest against her waist, as I cradle her close to me. She smiles against my lips, and I do the same. I look at her, and she looks at me before pulling away shyly.
"Wow," I breathe, "You're a good kisser."
"You like me too, right?" She asks.
"Of course," I say reassuring her, "Why else would I kiss you back?"
"I don't know," Autumn shrugs.
"Well, I do like you, a lot."
"Really?" She beams.
"Yeah, I mean, who wouldn't? You're so pretty, and funny. You're a total badass and you're really confident. It's kind of hot, to be honest."
"You think I'm hot, huh?" She smirks.
Here the confidence comes back. "Yeah."
She leans close. "Kiss me properly and pull me apart," She whispers in my ear before biting my bottom lip. She begins walking off.
"Where are you going?" I ask, very confused.
"I'll be right back," She smiles, and the next thing I know, the whole school surrounds the bench.
Autumn is giving her whole group a high five, whilst laughing with them. She points towards me and they all go into a fit of giggles.
What is going on?
She walks towards me, wrapping an arm around me. "Sweetie, you've just been razored."
It's what is said after every razor roses prank. Of course. And with those words, everyone laughs until their stomachs ache but I stand there until my heart doesn't.
My friends, Matt, Jamie, Nick and Miles have frowns on their faces, as their eyes fill with sympathy. That doesn't matter to me. I thought that Autumn was genuine. I thought under that hard rock exterior, that she was a little soft and beautiful.
She wasn't.
"Don't do that," I breathe, removing my forearm for her grip, and she smirked at me as if she knew exactly what I meant.
"Aw, honey," She pouts, "You still remember that, huh?"
She remembers. Oh my fucking god, she remembers.
The next thing I know, the classroom bell rings and she's out of my sight in a flash.
