Chapter 11
"We're doing this oldest to youngest? Seriously?" Izuku drawled as the second-oldest Sero sister clung to his side. Unlike Hana, Haru remembered him perfectly and didn't hold a grudge like Akira. She recognized Izuku as her lifeboat and wasn't letting go anytime soon.
Shigaraki's nails dug into his neck in irritation at the remark. "You think I have any idea how old these brats are?"
"You're stupid, but not that stupid," Izuku spat, tightening his hold on Haru when she jumped at his words. "Whatever, I'll be in touch."
He turned to start out of the room, his main focus set on getting Haru home. He made it two steps before Chisaki spoke.
"And if we need you now?" The words were spoken with an air of superiority that made Izuku's jaw tick. In what world did Chisaki think he could take that tone with him?
"Too bad, you can have me tomorrow," Izuku countered, resuming his movements toward the door.
"Bad dog," Shigaraki called out, a twisted sort of glee in his voice. "When we say fetch, you drop everything and go."
Izuku's free hand moved to his face, pressing the heel into his right eye. He whirled around, keeping Haru behind him. "I'm busy."
"You have half an hour," Chisaki corrected with a wave of his hand, dismissing Izuku like a common grunt. "Use it wisely."
Izuku was worried his teeth were going to start chipping from how hard his jaw was clenched. He didn't say another word before leaving the room, now on a time crunch. He had to get Haru to Hanta before he was summoned again.
"Izuku, where are we going?" Haru asked in a whisper as the villain led her through the halls of the compound.
Izuku couldn't help but be impressed at the way the girl's voice wasn't shaking. He shouldn't have been surprised, Haru was in her last year of hero school, she needed to know how to keep a clear head in that type of situation.
"We're going to find your brother," Izuku answered in a hushed tone, keeping a careful eye on the other people they passed in the winding halls. "I'll drop you off with him and then do whatever fucking errand they demand of me to get your sisters back."
"What about mom?" Haru asked in a noticeably softer voice.
Izuku shook his head, pushing through a side door and exiting into a back alley. He felt better now that they were out of the building. "Shigaraki will keep her for last."
"Why?" she asked, sounding appalled.
"Why does it matter? Would you rather him hold onto Hina?" Izuku asked, needing the hero in training to act just a little more like it. The youngest members of the family are their priority, never mind the fact that they all knew Aya would give up her life for any of her kids. She wouldn't have been able to live with herself if she was released first.
"I- no, of course not," the girl said, looking at at the ground below them. Izuku thought she looked ashamed, but that was above his pay grade. All he had to now was get her to Hanta.
"C'mon," he said, pulling her by the wrist in the direction of Hanta's agency. After the scene he had just caused, he had good reason to believe that Aizawa would have all of his subordinates gathered at the agency for some kind of meeting. Which reminded him... he needed to give the hero back his quirk anyway, might as well kill two birds with one stone.
It didn't take long to arrive, only about fifteen minutes. Of course, that time was only possible because he got annoyed and put Haru on his back, using One For All to propel them through the city.
"Hold on," he called over his shoulder as the agency came into view. "This is going to get a little sketchy."
The girl gave a small squeak as Izuku suddenly dived down and shattered the window he was aimed at, the two falling through into the room. His balance was thrown off by Haru on his back and he fell to his knees, quickly scrambling to his feet as he took in his surroundings. The room was empty, but the decor made it clear that he'd gotten the right office. It was Hanta's, no doubt. The biggest giveaway was that all the posters were obnoxiously attached at the corners with Hanta's tape.
"You can let go now," Izuku said with a sigh, hoping the girl wouldn't need further prompting.
"Heh, about that...." she trailed off with a sheepish chuckle. "That last move kinda terrified me and I may or may not have activated my quirk."
Izuku pinched the bridge of his nose because of course, she did. Haru and Emiko had almost identical quirks, an extremely sticky paste that was excreted from their hands. Haru had trained hers to the point where she could dry it on command. "Is your quirk heat reactant?" he asked after a moment.
"E-enough heat can melt it, but-"
"This might hurt." That was as much warning as she got before Izuku's shoulders flared in temperature. It just kept rising, making him hotter and hotter to the touch.
"Ow, ow, ow," Haru whined under her breath, pulling on her hands in the hope of them finally releasing. They pulled off a moment later, just as the heat was becoming too much. She jumped down immediately, almost falling on her ass if Izuku hadn't caught her by the arm.
"Let me see," he instructed, no room for argument in his voice. He grabbed her wrists, twisting them so her palms were facing him. They were a little red and irritated from the heat, but it didn't appear that she had any burns.
"Iz," Hanta's voice rang through the room, so much relief present that the weight of it almost made Izuku double over.
He whirled around, finally revealing Haru. Hanta's eyes widened at the sight of her before he cleared the room in two steps and pulled her into his arms. "Haru, you're okay. Fuck, you're okay. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, Hanta," Haru said with all the annoyance of a little sister dealing with her overprotective big brother.
"Where's Aizawa?" Izuku asked, cutting into their reunion. He only had ten minutes left and still needed to see the other pro.
Hanta turned on his heel, now certain that his sister was safe and unharmed. "Trying to find you. Iz, you took his quirk."
Izuku rolled his eyes, uninterested in the melodrama of it all. "I'm trying to give it back. Where is he?"
"Problem child."
Izuku didn't turn around, didn't need to. He released his hold on the erasure quirk and let it drift back to its original owner. "You get those people out?"
"Obviously."
"Any casualties?"
"No."
Izuku shook his head with a faint smile. "Tell Shin that I kept my promise then." He looked back over to Hanta, disregarding his confusion. "I have to go, five minutes left."
"Five minutes left? What the hell does that mean?" Hanta asked, his brows furrowing as he took a step toward Izuku.
"The guys that took us," Haru supplied, grabbing her brother's wrist and keeping him from following after the villain. "They gave him half an hour before he has to go back."
Izuku squeezed his eyes shut tightly, a migraine starting to form. "You weren't supposed to tell them that, kid."
"Another attack already?" Hanta asked, looking between his sister and the villain.
Izuku's jaw popped as he stared pointedly out the window. "We don't know that-"
"That's all they've made you do since you started working with them," Hanta pointed out.
"Midoriya, you know we can't just let you leave," Aizawa said, the rustling of his scarf letting Izuku know he was crossing his arms like a disappointed father.
"I would love to see you try and keep me here."
"You'd think he'd learn by now," Shinsou said with a tsk, walking around the villain to stand in front of him. The normally electric green eyes were nothing but white. "All you had to do was turn around to figure out that it wasn't actually Aizawa, but you got cocky."
"And you're an idiot if you think your quirk will actually work on me," Izuku said after sparking his fire to life just enough to hurt. He shook off the violating feeling of Shinsou's quirk, having a sudden need for a shower. "Never do that again, or it won't be your quirk anymore."
"Iz," Hanta said in a hushed tone. "What's your plan here? You can't just fight your way out of this."
Izuku let out a harsh laugh, looking over to the purple-haired hero. "I won't need to. Shinsou here is going to let me walk out that door."
"Midoriya, I can't just do that," Shinsou spoke, his hands on his scarf and readying himself.
"We are so talking about how you two know each other later," Hanta grumbled, taking a step back and staying out of it. He wasn't going to be caught helping either of them. His family was his only concern now.
Izuku pointedly ignored the hero's comment, instead speaking to Shinsou. "I kept my promise, no one died. You know why I'm doing this."
"That doesn't make it right," Shinsou snapped.
Izuku shrugged, dusting off the sleeves of his jacket. "Fine, I'll let the other three die then, if that seems more heroic to you."
"That's not what I'm saying-"
"Great," Izuku cut him off with a harsh glare, one that Shinsou had seen enough to know he was outmatched. Izuku wasn't going to keep playing around if Shinsou didn't back off. "I'll be on my way then."
He shot off out of the broken window, nothing but a streak of green across the sky.
Oh this fic is fun.
