chapter 11

Finding the main office was easy and seeing as it wasn't needed for the event, it was completely empty and locked up. Toga was decent at lock picking, so when they came back she'd be the one to try and get in.

Worst case scenario, Izuku would break the glass on the door and unlock it that way.

Now they just had to wait for the perfect time.

The pair found decent seats and watched the first event, an obstacle course. Izuku quietly pointed out which of the many students was his boyfriend and Toga took it upon herself to be Sero's personal cheerleader. She was jumping up and down, screeching her lungs out, and grabbing onto Izuku the whole time. Izuku was smiling like an idiot all the while.

The crowd was so loud, it didn't seem like Sero was going to notice her. She was pouting a little bit and Izuku couldn't help but come to the conclusion that she was in fact crazy. She didn't even know the guy, why did it matter so much if he heard her cheer or not?

But after Sero had finished, placing high enough to advance to the next round, Toga screamed "Way to go, Tape Boy!" at the top of her lungs.

Izuku burst out laughing as that was what finally got Sero's attention. He whirled around in surprise, scanning the crowd for whoever had called him that nickname only Izuku used. He found Izuku first, a bright smile taking over his face. He raised a brow as he looked over at the overenthusiastic blonde sitting next to him. Izuku just shrugged and blew him a kiss. Sero dramatically caught it and brought it to his heart, causing Izuku to fake a gag. Both boys laughed, catching the attention of some of Sero's friends.

Izuku quickly shook his head at his boyfriend, he clearly didn't want anyone else to know he was there. He didn't know what Sero said to them, but none of them looked back over. He let out a sigh and sunk back into his chair.

"So," Toga started, bumping their shoulders together. "Lover boy is cuter than I was expecting." She broke out into a fit of giggles when Izuku flicked her off.

They stayed for the cavalry battles, seeing as both of them wanted to watch how Sero would do. Izuku was less than impressed that he teamed with Bakugou, but the blond was powerful and he couldn't blame his boyfriend for sticking with one of the first place candidates and his friends. Didn't mean he had to be happy about it, however.

His team ended up coming in second place and the two villains in the stands were screaming their heads off. It was quite funny to watch, which Sero realized when he looked over and saw the big bad villains hugging each other and screaming. It was really hard for him to not draw attention to them.

Sero's one on one battle was one of the firsts, so the villain's decided to wait until after to go search through the office. If Sero won, they'd have time to kill before his next match and if he lost they wouldn't have to worry about trying to catch his next one anyway. It seemed like the best idea to them.

Until Sero's opponent decided to freeze half the arena with one move.

It took all of Toga's strength to keep Izuku in that seat and not jump out onto the field. He'd totally blow their cover when he gutted the Todoroki kid on national television.

"C'mon," Toga whispered to him, trying to pull him out of the seating area. "They'll be taking him to the infirmary, we can go see him there."

Izuku was seething, so completely pissed off that his fire quirk was acting up. There was actual smoke rolling off of him and it burned for Toga to touch him too long. She settled for pulling him along by the sleeve of his sweatshirt, which she couldn't believe hadn't gone up in flames yet.

The infirmary was on the same level as the rec rooms for contestants. So of course they ran into the very person that caused them to be down there in the first place.

Toga didn't have time to react before Izuku had lunged for the taller boy, slamming him up against the wall by the front of his shirt.

"What the hell were you thinking? You could have fucking killed him! Did that ever cross your pea sized brain? Huh? That you could have actually put people in serious danger? Or were you too busy trying to be dad's perfect little weapon to take other people into consideration?"

Todoroki's eyes had widened a fraction, having truly been caught off guard for the first time in a very long time, but they narrowed at the mention of his father.

Before he could retort, physically or just verbally, Izuku was nearly tackled off of him. The boy heated up again, the crackle of One For All joining the rage fest. But then he heard, "Iz, I'm okay. I'm okay. You can't just... attack my classmates, lightning bug."

Izuku's eyes were wide as he melted into Sero's embrace, all of the panic he'd been feeling since the match finally catching up with him. "He could have killed you," he mumbled after a brief pause.

"It was a one on one battle, he did what he was supposed to. The teachers wouldn't have let anything bad happen." Sero told him, just letting him hold onto his taller frame. He placed a kiss on the top of his head and smiled when he heard Izuku sigh in relief.

Sero truly was okay, a little cold, but he hadn't actually been hurt.

"So, you're gay?"

Izuku had pushed away from Sero in record time and lunged for Todoroki again. "You got a problem with that, you over sized candy cane?" he yelled.

Sero just managed to grab him by the hood, causing him to fall backwards for a split second. "He doesn't! He's just socially inept and emotionally stunted. He's trying to make conversation! Please stop trying to kill him."

Izuku huffed and crossed his arms, but stopped trying to attack the taller teen.

Todoroki was watching the two with the faintest hint of amusement. If Izuku wasn't who he was, he probably would have missed it. But alas, he was in fact Izuku.

"Hey jackass, what's so funny?" he barked.

Sero slapped a hand over his mouth from behind and dropped his head onto Izuku's shoulder in exhaustion. "Izuku, love, even Toga is laughing at us right now."

The girl beamed with pride. "You know who I am? Does that mean Izuchan talks about me?!"

"Down, girl," Izuku mumbled in her direction. She pouted, but was quiet after.

Sero flicked his forehead for that. "You don't like being called a dog, don't treat her like one."

"We just had this conversation! She said she doesn't care!" Izuku whined, turning and burying his face into Sero's chest. "Todoroki," he snapped, but his voice was muffled. "Go away, you make me mad."

Todoroki's eyes were alight with... something. Sero had no idea, but he was sure Izuku would know if he had seen.

The half and half teen raised a brow at his classmate. A silent question.

Sero just mouthed a 'please dude'.

Todoroki shrugged and turned to walk back to the rec room he was staying in for the duration of the festival. Before he could get far, Sero called out to him. "Hey, can you please... just not mention him to anyone?"

Todoroki thought that would have been upsetting to the green haired boy, that his boyfriend wants to keep him a secret, but he saw the way Izuku visibly sagged in relief at the question. Sero asked for Izuku's benefit, not his own. Todoroki had no idea why, but he agreed to keep quiet nonetheless. With that, he walked off.

"I don't like him," Izuku mumbled once he was gone.

Sero chuckled and patted his head. "You're a child, ya know that?"

He just huffed in response.

Sero turned his attention to the blonde girl next to them. "We haven't actually met yet, I'm Hanta Sero."

He wore a kind smile that fell a little when Toga squealed in excitement. "I know! Izuchan talks about you all the time. I'm actually the one that texted you that one time when he was hurt. Himiko Toga!"

Sero frowned and hugged Izuku to him tighter at the mention of when he hadn't been able to even text from being so injured, but forced a strained smile back to the blonde. "Yeah, he talks about you a lot too."

"You both suck," Izuku said, finally removing his face from Sero's chest.

Sero ruffled his hair. "You love us," he said with a knowing look.

Izuku's breath hitched at the accusation. He'd never told anyone but his mother that he loved them. He wasn't sure he was ready to say the words yet.

So he just nodded instead.
