Stevie was running around like mad, trying to make sure everything was in order. She wasn't dressed just yet, and that fact alone made her panic a little. Lindsey was downstairs, double checking things for his wife. Though he tried to soothe her and lower her stress levels, nothing came as any relief. When he received a call that catering would be delayed by a half hour, he knew Stevie would freak out. She passed by him and it was now or never. She had to know.

"Babe" Lindsey said.

"I have to check one more thing then--" Stevie began.

"Stevie, this is important." Stevie stopped in her tracks. "Catering is going to be a little late."

"How late? Five, ten minutes?" He shook his head. "Fifteen?" He shook his head again. "Oh no."

"Half hour, but they will be here. They didn't cancel."

"Guests will be arriving in..." She looked around for a clock, finding none, then spotting the watch on Lindsey's wrist, she yanked his arm toward her at an awkward angle. He winced slightly. "Jesus, I only have an hour and a half."

"Calm down."

"I wanted this to be perfect. We have so many friends coming and important industry people, photographers...this is a mess" She started to cry and he pushed her hair back from her face, stroking her cheeks.

"Sweetheart, it will be perfect. Please don't worry so much. We have to get you to relax a little."

"I can't. I'm so nervous."

"Everyone at this party loves you. They will be happy just to be around you."

"I have to entertain...I want to show people a good time."

"You will, honey. If the catering doesn't show up, then I will throw something together." That thought made her cry even more and he chuckled,  embracing her. "I'm sorry, I was trying to make a joke. I would never poison our guests." That finally got a giggle from Stevie and he pulled back, kissing her. "You go upstairs, get ready and I will let you know when catering arrives."

"Okay, thank you baby."

"No problem."

"You're so good to me."

"I'm trying. You deserve it." She pat his cheek, her fire engine red nails contrasting with the blue of his eyes. "I love you"

"I love you too" He watched  her ascend the stairs, headed to her closet and he breathed a sigh of relief. Hopefully he could continue to put out figurative fires for the duration of the evening.

Stevie pulled out the dress she had chosen for the party but the second she put it on she hated it. She sighed in frustration, putting on her makeup and fixing her long blonde hair. She looked at her appearance, deciding to put in a little more bronzer in an attempt to slim her face. She gave up, picking up the skirt of her long silky dress to grab her boots and put them on. It became a task at this point in her pregnancy and was thankful when it didn't use up all the energy she had like it usually did. Lindsey came upstairs, smiling as soon as he saw her.

"Is this the dress?"

"Yes, why is it awful? I feel like I look horrible in it! I hate it too!" She began to cry again and he halted her.

"No, Stevie you look gorgeous! Don't cry, it's okay."

"My hormones are kicking my ass!" she said, grabbing a tissue and going to the mirror to dab her makeup.

"They sure are but she will be here soon and you will even out. I'm here to help you, don't forget that."

"I know. You've been helping me out so much." She turned around to face him. "Do I look okay, still?"

"Perfect." He couldn't stop smiling as he looked her over. She wore a black high necked silky dress with long balloon sleeves that gathered at the wrist. Her dress draped so beautifully over her belly and Lindsey rubbed it, soothingly. She wore her new wedding ring, having switched her previous band to another finger, and the bracelet Lindsey had given her for a (belated)  anniversary gift. "Are you going to be okay in heels all night?"

"If I'm not, you'll see me shrink about half way through" she said with a laugh.

"Well, alright then. Catering is here and all set up, we have two Home and Garden photographers here asking to see your night garden and touches we've put through the house recently."

"Do they want to see the nursery?"

"We have a cover story for a different magazine in a month or two, I believe."

"I didn't know that had been arranged."

"Last week, honey, don't you remember?"

"I don't remember anything lately, Linds. My mind is focused on getting this baby out."

He chuckled. "I know but she still has a little time left. Don't evict her already."

"I will try."

"How are you feeling?"

"Tired."

"You're not having second thoughts, are you?"

"No, everything is fine. I just really want to stay by you tonight."

"That works for me. We can mingle together. Just let me know when you need to rest and you can go upstairs. I will figure everything else out and make sure the house is cleaned up before you wake up in the morning."

"Did I ever tell you how much I love you?" she asked, pressing herself into his side.

"Not in the last few minutes, no. Why don't you refresh my memory?"

"Well, I do. I love you so much I can barely stand it."

"Is that so?"

"Mm-hm" He leaned down to kiss her, his fingers finding her permed curls. "You look so good, Linds, so sexy..."

"Keep talking like that and this dress is going to be on the floor and our party will be without hosts."

"We can't do that...can we?"

"We could arrange it." He kissed her again, his hands groping her backside as he walked her closer to their huge bed. Their kisses became ever passionate, his fingers playing with her zipper. The moment he chose to undo it, she pulled away.

"We can't. This is most likely our last party before the baby comes and we have to be good."

"What if I don't want to be? What if I want to be bad?" he asked, a handsome but mischievous grin on his face.

"We can be bad later. We have plenty of time."

"Do we?" His body was still pressed to hers and she couldn't resist him. His cologne smelled so good and he looked even better. She always had a thing for him in a well-tailored suit.

"Mm...hm" she said, kissing him once more. He was taken aback but excited by her all the same. How could he turn her down? He decided to go for it, gently placing her on the bed, his hands running up her leg to her most sensitive parts. She bit her bottom lip, highly aroused. Her pupils were dilated, nearly masking the natural darkness of her irises. He descended upon her, careful not to lay on top of her too much. There was a growing baby in there, after all. She loosened his tie and unbuttoned his shirt, the first couple now open then...the doorbell rang.

"Dammit" he cursed, getting up from their bed. She whimpered, disappointed as well. "Can I ignore them?" She shook her head. "Fine."

"Later?" she asked.

"Yes, definitely later, but only if you're up to it."

"I will be." Stevie said. Lindsey buttoned his shirt back up and tightened his tie, while Stevie watched him like a lion stalking a gazelle. She had full intentions of having him after the party and when he looked at her, he could feel it. He adjusted his erection and she giggled, giving him a kiss before he went down to greet their guests.
