Dean couldn't take his eyes off the familiar face before him. He just couldn't believe it.
"What's the matter, Dean? Cat got your tongue?"
Dean eventually managed to choke out, "Benny?"
Benny chuckled. "You bet your ass."
"How are you here?" Cas asked. "I thought you were dead."
"Could say the same for you there, angel boy."
"How are you alive? What brought you back?"
"Not sure. I was in purgatory when I stumbled across Death. Literally. Said he was bringin' me back. Never said why, though. Just told me it was for the balance."
Dean nodded. "I think I know what he was talking about."
"You do?" Sam asked.
"I made a deal with Death just before I went to heaven. He told me that someone else would get to live in my place. He never said it'd be you."
Benny put his hands up. "Hey, I'm not complaining."
"Neither am I."
Benny grinned. "Better not be."
"But what about us?" Cas asked. "Why are we alive?"
"Don't be such a sourpuss. You're alive now. Be grateful for that."
"I just want to be with Dean in heaven."
"You can be with him here, too."
"But we can't be happy here. Not with everything to worry about."
"Cas," Dean held his hand. "It'll be okay."
"What brought us back? And for what purpose?"
"I don't know. But we'll figure it out. Okay?"
Cas reluctantly nodded.
"I can do research," Sam offered. "Hit the books, see if I can find anything."
Dean nodded. "Yeah, you do that."
When Sam left, Benny looked to Dean. "You really made a deal with Death to be with Cassie?"
"Of course I did," He held Cas's hand. "I'd do anything for Cas." He smiled at his angel.
Benny rolled his eyes and smirked. "Yeah, yeah. Just keep the lovey dovey stuff to a minimum, kapeesh?"
And, just to annoy Benny, Cas gave Dean a warm, passionate kiss, his hands on the hunter's shoulders. Dean placed his hands on Cas's waist as Benny gagged silently.
Cas pulled away and smirked at Benny. "Yes. We kapeesh."
Dean couldn't help but laugh. "C'mon, Cas. Let's go to the bedroom."
"Don't do anything I wouldn't do." Benny snickered.
"There's nothing you wouldn't do." Dean smirked.
"Touché."
Dean and Cas went up to their bedroom and laid down, holding each other close. Dean couldn't help but smile to himself. It was just like it was in heaven, only Cas was an angel this time.
"Dean?" Cas spoke up.
"Yeah, Cas?"
"What do you think brought us back from heaven?"
Dean sighed. "I don't know, baby. I dunno. But for now, I just wanna be here with you. That's all I could ever ask for, is to be by your side."
Cas smiled. "I love you, Dean."
"I love you too, Cas. And I don't care if we're on earth again. You're my angel," He kissed him gently on the lips. "And I will not lose you."
