《twenty-six》
All alone in his room, darkness all around him, he hunched over his phone, the screen glaring up at him.
He stared at her name, at the picture he had snuck of her beside the name, of her captured in the midst of a wide smile.
She seemed to do that a lot. Smile.
And he seemed to do that a lot. Smile. With her. Or when thinking about her.
It was around 4am, and he hadn't been able to sleep the whole night, having tossed and turned for hours on end, until finally he'd gotten too restless, his mind unable to be taken off her, and he made a wild grab for his phone.
His breath stuttered in and out, too-loud in the still air.
His eyes stared at the words in the message box, those words he'd typed and committed to memory, afraid to send.
A simple: Hi. I miss you.
He knew he was being silly; it'd only been a few hours since he'd last seen her, after all. But so what if his fear was irrational? It was still very real.
His thumb hovered over the 'send' button, a hand gripping his heart. Slowly, he brought his finger down, down...
Paused.
His hand fell away, thumping onto the floor beside him. Cold and clammy.
He knew. He knew he knew he knew he was being completely stupid. He was a fool.
A fool for her.
[A/N: Holy hell it's been so long. Um, this is short, but yeah. **starts singing "Only fools fall for you"**]
