Chapter 2
We're only getting older, baby
And I've thinking about it lately.
Does it ever drive you crazy,
Just how fast the night changes?
Everything that you've ever dreamed of
Dissapearing when you wake up.
But there's nothing to be afraid of
Even when the night ch-
"What are you listening to?"
Erin dropped her blue ipod and fumbled with it as she tried to catch it.
"Oh um, just some One-" she looked up towards the source of the voice a started.
"Direction?"
Even though she was sitting in the dark part if the room, she immediately recognized him.
It was the unruly black hair. It was those sleek black glasses. And that smile.
It was him.
"Uh........yeah?" Erin tried to sound casual, but she couldn't hide the little hitch in her voice. She mentally cursed the fact that she was sitting on the ground and having to look so small as he towered over her.
"What song?" He looked at her, genuinely curious.
Why is he asking me about One Direction, thought Erin, Oh my gosh what if he hates the song I was listening to?!
"Night Changes...?" Oh my gosh, if he hates this song-
"That's a nice song," he said, which startled Erin.
He noticed her uneasiness and he laughed.
"What, you thought that I would hate that song?"
"Maybe..." she muttered.
"Hey, you're that Freshman I met during Band Camp, right?"
"I guess," Erin replied, surprised that he actually remembered her.
"You remember my name?"
Erin looked at her iPod as if it were the most interesting thing in the world.
"Caeden..."
"Hey you got it!" He sounded genuinely relieved. "Tell ya what, you can sit next to me when we start going onto the field."
Erin looked up at him from her spot on the ground, aghast.
"You don't have to be so frightened-"
"Hey Caeden!"
Both of then turned their heads towards the source of the sound. A group of Juniors from the other side the band room waved over to him.
"Will wants us to help in the field!" Another friend called.
"Okay, fine," Caeden nudged Erin on the shoulder, prompting her to squeak "See you later."
He ran noisily towards his friends and Erin was left alone to ponder the recent events.
She was so grateful for the fact that the darkness had covered her blush.
This was an eventful first day of school.
