Genderbend human AU

Poppy and Branch sit in Poppy's living room. Poppy holds his light brown guitar. He starts playing as he talks to his best friend who is sitting on the opposite side to him of the white couch.

"He thought you were awesome...", Poppy says sweetly.

By " He " Poppy means himself. He is in love with Branch and has been for a long time. Usually Poppy can be very expressive so easily but, when it came to telling Branch his feelings it wasn't so easy! So he came up with this plan to her with the help of some of his friends. He had told Branch minutes ago that a guy he knows, A.K.A himself, likes her. Poppy is going to sing to Branch and he wrote a special song for this moment. He is so nervous!

"He thought I was awesome? The guy you claim who 'likes' me?", Branch replies not believing him.

Poppy smiles at her. There is no doubt that he thinks Branch is awesome!

"Definitely.", Poppy says confident.

Branch didn't understand why and how someone would be in love with someone like her.

" How?", Branch asks.

Poppy let's out a breath he didn't know he was holding.

"Well...", Poppy says trying to remember the song he wrote.

There's no going back now...

" He said there's nothing like your smile
Sort of subtle and perfect and real
He said you never knew how wonderful that smile
Can make someone feel...",Poppy sings.

Branch doesn't smile a lot but, when she was really smiling it always looked subtle, perfect and real to him. Some days he would bug her just to get her to smile.

" And he knew whenever you get bored
You still draw stars on the cuffs of your jeans
And he noticed you still wear a camouflage jacket from those camping magazines...",Poppy sings.

Branch is very good at drawing that it's like a little talent. Poppy could remember the times he found her drawing. And as for the jacket it is very true. Since Branch was a teenager she would wear a camouflage jacket. Poppy smiles at those memories.

" But he kept it all inside his head
What he saw he left unsaid
Even know he wanted to
He had some trouble talking to you
He couldn't find a way
But,he would always say...",Poppy sings.

Poppy has been having trouble with certain feelings. He would talk to the rest of the Snack Pack about this.

" If I could tell her

But,we're a million worlds apart
And I don't know where I would even start

If I could tell...",Poppy sings.

Poppy and Branch are opposites. It is like they are worlds apart from each other sometimes. Poppy had tried to tell Branch before but, he would get stuck or the moment would get ruined! Sometimes he truly didn't know how to start.

Branch is now curious about what else the guy said about her. She honestly feels special right. Apart of her wonders if Poppy could be the guy he is partly singing about. She immediately chases that hopeful thought away.

Branch has been in love with Poppy for a long time but,had trouble telling him. She did a few times but, he took as friendship to her disappointment. She doesn't like being in the friend zone.

" Did he say anything else? ",Branch asks curious and softly.

Poppy is surprised by this!

" About you?",Poppy asks surprised.

Branch starts feeling embarrassed and starts panicking. She regrets asking Poppy her question. She tries to take it back.

"Never mind! I don't really care!", Branch says fast lying and embarrassed.

Poppy starts panicking as well. He feels nervous and like he accidentally made a wrong move.

" No!No!No!",Poppy says fast.

Branch looks at him confused. Poppy tries to think of something to say quickly. He didn't want everything to fall apart! He needs to tell her that he loves her!

" I'm just trying to remember the best ones. Hmm...",he says hoping that it would work.

Branch just nods her head to Poppy. Poppy let's out another breath which he also didn't know he was holding. He tries to remember the next lyrics.

" He thought you looked really pretty..."Poppy sings.

Then he realizes that he sang the lyric wrong and that he let something slip! He starts panicking.

"Er! Hmm...", Poppy says

Branch just looks at Poppy confused as he tries to remember the lyrics. She shakes it off as he starts singing again.

" It looked pretty cool
when you started dying your hair
Royal Sapphire blue...",Poppy sings smoothly.

Poppy honestly thought that she looks both cool and pretty with her blue hair. Branch blushes a little at the lyrics while smiling.

" He did?",Branch asks.

Both of them let out a quick laugh. Poppy's nervousness has completely disappeared.

" And he wondered where learnt to cook
And design stuff like nobody else
But,he kept it all inside his head
What he thought he left unsaid

If I could tell her that she's everything to me...",Poppy sings.

Poppy does sometimes wonder how she became such a good cook. She also has a talent for designing and building. She even studied at M.I.T . Then Branch joins in the song while moving a little closer to Poppy without thinking. It feels so right to both Branch and Poppy.

" But,we're a million worlds apart...",Poppy and Branch sing together.

They sing while looking into each other's eyes.

" And I don't know how I would even start
If I could tell her
If I could tell her
What do you when there's this great derived?...",Poppy sings.

" He just seems so far away...",Branch sings.

" And what do you when the distance is too wide?...",Poppy sings.

" It's like I don't know anything...",Branch sings.

Sometimes she really didn't feel like she knew anything. Branch is not sure if Poppy feels the same way she feels about him.

" And how do you say?...",Poppy sings.

Poppy smiles at Branch. He thought he would be nervous for the next part but, he didn't at all. It feels so right to tell Branch that he loves her.

" I love you
I love you
I love you
I love you...",Poppy sings.

Branch looks at Poppy completely shocked. Her heart skips a beat in that moment. Did he just admitted that he loves her?

" But we're a million worlds apart
And I don't know where I would even start
If I could tell her
If I could...", Poppy sings.

Poppy slowly stops playing his guitar. He and Branch are completely lost in each other's eyes and the moment. They smile at each other.

"I love you, Branch.", Poppy says honestly and softly.

Then Poppy brings his lips to Branch's while tilting his head to the right a little. He kisses Branch loving. For a second, Branch's eyes widen cause of her surprise that the man she loves is kissing her! Branch falls into the kiss as she closes her eyes and kisses back.
