Fairytale AU

A fourteen year old teenage troll named Branch sits in her kitchen eating breakfast. Branch is eating toast with a egg made sunny side-up on it. She is wearing a brown patchy dress. Her hair is loose,black and short. She has grey skin,dull purple nose,blue eyes and pointy but,round ears. Then she hears a knock at the door. It must be Mr Guffin, an friend of her Grandpa Rosiepuff and her horrible guardian.

Branch signs then eats the last piece of food on her plate. The grey troll quickly cleans up and puts away the dishes. She takes the lift to the door mat and opens the peek hole. It was Mr Guffin and his granddaughter,Creek ,who is the same age as Branch.

"Get out here,you stupid girl!", Mr Guffin said cruelly.

Branch closes the peek hole. She sets her door mat on slide then slides it away. Branch gets out of her bunker mentally preparing her self for usual long day ahead of her.

"Mr Guffin, how can I help you?", Branch says.

" Creek is going to stay here now on so your gonna get extra chores on your 'To Do' list and I don't want to hear a single insult or complaint from you about it!", Mr Guffin says.

Branch didn't like the idea of Creek staying. She was already a mega pain and bully as a guest! Branch wanted to say something but, couldn't with her guardian around. Branch always waited until she was alone to break down or vent or express her feelings. Branch has a very terrible life but, she felt like she deserved it! Sometimes she would cry herself to sleep. She is basically Mr Guffin's free maid and slave! Branch works like a slave for him!

Branch just nods her head. Mr Guffin gives her the extra long list. She has to extra clean Creek's new room,wash her clothes, put her clothes the closest, put up her personal decorations,put her belongings in the right places, get her ready for tonight's party,cook a bigger lunch and so on!

"You better get it all done!", Mr Guffin says sternly.

"Don't ruin my clothes and stuff,Branchella!", Creek says.

Branchella is the nickname Creek gave her a few years ago. Mr Guffin at the time thought it was a very good mocking joke. Ever since that day they have been calling her Branchella. Mr Guffin and Creek are the only people who call her Branchella. Branch hates that nickname!

Then Mr Guffin and Creek go to the mansion close by. Originally Branch was forced to live in the attic of the mansion but, when she was younger Mr Guffin allowed her to build her bunker as long it was not too far or too close to the mansion. He didn't like the idea of Branch living in 'his' mansion so he let her do so immediately after work. He believes that grey trolls should not be treated as equal in the community. He also think that they should have the lowest and poorest jobs that nobody wants to do!

If it wasn't for the fact that Branch's late family had left Branch a lot of money,the mansion and along with other belongings he would had sent Branch away after Rosiepuff,Branch's grandpa, died. Branch didn't know about any of it so as long as Branch is around Mr Guffin can do as he pleases with the money.

Later that morning, Branch goes into the backyard to feed the critters in the stable. The moment Branch reaches the stable all the critters go towards her to greet her.

"Hi guys.", Branch greets warmly.

They all had took a shine to Branch. There would be other critters ,like glowbugs, who help her out when she was working sometimes. At first Branch was surprised but, after a while she became happy to see them and let them help her. Branch even gave them names. Whenever Mr Guffin and Creek are around they would hide. They didn't like them at all.

Branch gives all of them food. Four glow bugs fly towards Branch as she steps out of the stables. Their names are Flare,Blaze, Sparkles and Glimmer. Flare is the yellow glowbug,Blaze is the green glowbug, Sparkles is the pink glowbug and Glimmer is the silver glowbug. They greet her and nuzzle their bodies against Branch who let's out small giggle then pets them. Then Branch walks into the mansion with the glowbugs following her happily. Branch goes to the kitchen and takes a slice of bread. She breaks it up then gives each glowbug a piece to eat.

" Branchella! ", Mr Guffin calls out.

Branch let's out a sigh then she tells the glowbugs to stay in the kitchen. They agree to her request. Then the grey troll goes to Creek's room and finds Mr. Guffin and Creek there.

" It's time for you to do most of your extra work then you must change the curtains!", Mr Guffin orders.

"But, I already change the curtains after serving breakfast...", Branch replies unhappily.

Mr Guffin and Creek smiles evilly at her.

" Then do it again but, first take care of Creek...", Mr Guffin says.

Mr Guffin walks out the bedroom. Creek throws her suitcase filled with clothes at Branch. Branch catches it nearly losing her balance. Then Creek walks to the door.

"I'll be in Yoga class for an hour. Make sure you don't ruin my clothes with your greyness,Branchella! Being a maid is the only job you can do!", Creek says meanly and mockingly.

At 11 p.m.,Branch goes back to her bunker tired from the longest day of her life! All her helpful glowbugs and other critters ,who don't come from the stables , follow her. Most of them had came a little later than the the glowbugs. When they all reach the bunker the glowbugs turn to the other critters .

"Blaze,Sparkles,Glimmer and me will stay with Branch for the night so don't worry...", Flare informs.

The critters have noticed that today, Branch was working harder and longer than usual. Even know they helped her, Branch's work still took longer to finish. They are worried about Branch. She is completely burned out from her without pay job. When Branch is burned out a group of them would stay with her to make sure that she would be alright for at least an while. It is the glowbugs turn to do so.

After Branch got the door mat open. Most of the critters nuzzle against her body then say their " Good night "s. Branch tells them " Good night " back. They go back to their homes as Branch and the glowbugs get into the bunker. Branch closes the door. She is so burned out that she did not question the glowbugs about them staying with her for what remains of the night. They help her make a quick dinner then help her clean up.

Branch let's out an yawn as she and the glowbugs go into her bedroom. Branch walks straight to bed. Sparkles and Flare lift up the blanket while Glimmer and Blaze fluffs Branch's pillow. As Branch gets into her bed Blaze and Glimmer fly to the other side of the room. Branch lays down on her side. The moment her head hits the pillow she falls asleep immediately dreamless. Sparkles and Flare cover her up with the blanket and tucks her in. Sparkles and Flare smiles at Branch sleeping. Blaze and Glimmer brings Branch's old stuffed crocodile, Croaco, to her. They put it between Branch's arms as Sparkles and Flare puts the bedroom lights off. Then the four glowbugs snuggle against Branch and turns off their light. They all sleep quietly.

Ten years later,Branch is sleeping in her bed. She dreams about finding True Love and her soulmate and having a better life. Branch honestly thinks she does not deserve all that but, that didn't stop her from dreaming. In her heart; being accepted for who she is and love is part of what she wants most from life. Deep down she wanted to be happy...

Then Branch's alarm goes off. Branch turns it off then sits up and stretches her arms. She now have long bangs. All her critter friends ,who had moved in, wake up too. As Branch gets out of bed the female critters chases the males out the bedroom. It's sort of part of their daily morning routine. Since the day the critters moved in to help her out more they had developed a routine. They had moved in the bunker a month after Creek had moved into the mansion. It took a while for Branch and them to get used to the routine but, once they did it improved their lives,especially Branch's life. It feels nice to not be living alone in the bunker.

Branch takes a quick shower while the critters in her bedroom get a patchy dull red dress and undergarments. Branch comes in her robe out the bathroom. She gets dressed then Glimmer gives Branch a brush. After she brushes her hair, Sparkles brings Branch a green bandanna. Branch thanks her as she puts it around her head and ties it in the back.

The critter girls allow the males back into the room. The male critters help Branch make the bed. Soon they are all eating the usual quick breakfast in the kitchen. An half hour later, the young grey troll and the critters go towards the mansion ready for work.

Meanwhile in the royal castle,the old queen, Queen Peppy, waits patiently for her son,Prince Poppy, in the throne room. She wears a golden dress with white flower imprints on the skirt and a silver Queen tiara with green leaf shaped jewels.

Ever since the young Prince turned eighteen he started traveling and doing different prince duties. He took on the job of representing his kingdom. He has done a lot of good for kingdom while being away but, that did not stop the Queen from missing him and worrying about him. Prince Poppy is rarely home which makes every moment he is home more precise.

Then to the Queen delight, her son walks into the room happily. Prince Poppy is wearing one of his designer blue formal suits designed by the royal designers,Satin and Chenille. The queen immediately walks happily to the Prince.

"Poppy, I missed you so much!", Peppy says while hugging her son.

Poppy smiles and hugs her back.

" I missed you too,Mom.", Poppy replies warmly.
