A young, tan-skinned teenage girl with orange-dyed hair and green eyes is seen performing a song with a pop girl group onstage as the audience cheered for her.

"Ashlyn, you did great!" One of the girl group members said.

"Aistayqizi ya, Aaliyah!" a voice shouted out.

It turned out to be a dream as she turned and tossed in her bed.

"I'm coming, I'm awake!" She said as she got up, wearing red leggings and a red shirt while her hair was messy.

After taking a bath and changing to her usual red dress with yellow sneakers with her hair tied in a ponytail with a red ribbon, she ran downstairs where her family was preparing for breakfast in the dining room. A buff olive skinned man and a tan skinned woman were greeting her as she went downstairs for breakfast. A pair of adolescent children were sitting with their father at the dining table.

"Sabah, Aaliyah," the man greeted her.

"Sabah, dad," she greeted back.

Ashlyn sat on the table and she started to eat.

"Dad, I'm invited to a slumber party with the cool girls," A dark haired adolescent who is around 13 named Amira said.

"Are you going to meet them at Timpani's home?" Their mother asked them.

"Yeah, I told Timpani and her friends about it," she answered.

"Malaak, I have been worried about them, what if they cause trouble in the house?" Their father reasoned with her.

"Omar, they are making their own decisions," She said.

"The time you almost beat up Aaliyah's ex boyfriend?" Zane asked his dad.

"He is the worst, he's abusive and not the right one for her," he complained.

"Amira, you have to be careful there, you might end up making a bad decision like your sister here," she said.

"Yes, dad," she agreed.

In Harmonia School, Keith, Priscilla, and CJ Suki were about to get inside the building while the other students were playing at the schoolyard.

"We're gonna do great this year," Keith said.

"Did you complete your homework?" Priscilla asked him.

"I completed mine," CJ Suki answered.

Amira and Zane arrived at school with Ashlyn after their parents dropped them off. When they got there they saw CJ Suki, Keith, and Priscilla.

"CJ! Keith! Priscilla!" Zane shouted.

The trio turned around and saw them.

"Hi!" CJ Suki called out to the two.

"Ready for the talent show next week?" Amira asked.

"We got a cool song to perform for that event, how about Ashlyn, does she have a thing to perform?" Priscilla asked her.

"I'm still thinking about the song I'm gonna sing," Ashlyn answered.

"Why don't you try something new like joining a girl group?" CJ Suki suggested. "Aunt Diana Jane is a part of the Snack Pack and she does the DJ stuff with the band, she even lets me learn some dj stuff after I finish my homework."

"Alright then," she squealed,

"Let me guess a love song to impress your boyfriend?" Zane teased his older sister.

"I'm suggesting that Ashlyn must try something new," CJ said.

They went to their separate classes and Ashlyn is later joined by Karma in her classroom. Kay "Karma" Toretto is a light brown skinned latina with her green dyed hair tied in two braids with leaf shaped hair decorations, a yellow tank top, blue eyeshadow, and a matching pleated skirt, and orange doc martens boots.

"Um hey, how are you doing this semester?" Ashlyn asked.

"The holiday break is so wild," she answered. "I have to volunteer in my parents' greenhouse to plant trees."

"Wow, that is busy," Ashlyn said.

"I heard the talent show is coming up," Karma told her.

"Yeah, CJ Suki, Keith, and Priscilla told me," she said.

"Those three are a real competition," Karma added.

"Yeah," she agreed.

"Do you wanna hear that Moxie Dewdrop is planning to form a girl group?" Karma informed her. "She got Harper and Cookie from first year, her classmate Celine Starburst from third year, and senior student, Mandy, to join her and now they're asking me to join them."

"Oh really?" Ashlyn asked.

"Yeah, meet us at break time, okay," she answered.

"Alright then," She said as class started.

Afterwards break time came and all of the students went to either the schoolyard or the cafeteria for lunch. Soon, Ashlyn saw Karma with the girls on the table. Beside Karma and Harper were four girls. Mei "Moxie Dewdrop" Chang is a Chinese teen with light pink dip-dyed black hair in low pigtails, pink eyes, glitter blush, and lipstick, wearing a yellow and orange gradient sweater over a white collared shirt, and magenta pleated skirt with knee high socks and black shoes. Chelsea "Cookie Sugarloaf" Ritz is a slim, African-American teen with medium brown skin, dark purple eyeshadow to accentuate her blue eyeshadow, and a bright blue dyed afro, wearing a bright yellow and green ombre tank top with bright purple shorts, a green jelly bracelet, and matching canvas shoes, while Miranda "Mandy Sparkledust" Holmes is a fair skinned teenager with freckles, raspberry hair that is tied in a side ponytail on the right side of her head, pink eyes and green eyeshadow, wearing a yellow t shirt over an orange pinafore with a pink hemline and sneakers. As for Celine "Starburst" Agrawal, she is a south asian teen with dark tan skin, black eyebrows, purple eyeshadow that accentuates her teal eyes, blue hair tied in a ponytail with jeweled hair clips and parted bangs framing her face, wearing a pastel red and white dress with a lavender necktie with a blue brooch, yellow knee high socks, and black shoes.

"Hey Ashlyn, over here!" Karma called out to Ashlyn, who came over to sit with them.

"Hey guys," She said as she sat next to Karma.

"Girls, this is my classmate, Ashlyn," Karma introduced her to them.

"Hi Ash!" Cookie Sugarloaf called out.

"We're planning to form a girl group for the upcoming talent show," Moxie Dewdrop answered.

"Karma suggested you as our last member," Celine Starburst added.

"Me? Your last member?" Ashlyn asked

"Yeah, so are you in?" Mandy Sparkledust asked her.

"Yes of course I'll do it," Ashlyn said excitedly.

"Yay!!! Welcome to the Sparkle Girls!" Moxie shouted.

"Yes, Queen!" Cookie added.

Soon after lunch, they went back to their classes until school was finally done. CJ Suki, Priscilla, and Keith were walking to Trollstopia while singing a song.

CJ Suki:

Hello this is urgent care, we put the urge in urgent. How may I direct your call?

Keith:
I need a doctor! A doctor gosh darn-it!

Priscilla:

As the kids were dancing and rapping along the way, they didn't know that Zane and Amira were looking at them.

"This is what they're singing?" he asked her.

"Don't interrupt them," she responded

The kids went to visit DJ Suki in Trollstopia Records, who was working on editing the songs that she and he Snack Pack were recording.

"Aunt DJ, the talent show is coming up next week and we got an idea," CJ shouted to her aunt.

"Really? What is it?" DJ asked her.

"I wanna dj while Keith and Priscilla can sing and rap," CJ answered.

"That's so awesome!" she gasped. "I'll teach you the basics first."

"Ooohh!!! I'm so excited!" CJ squealed.

"I'm sure we can win," Priscilla shouted.

"Yeah, I can't wait to rap!" Keith added.

"Okay, calm down you three, let's work on your dj skills when we are at CJ's place," DJ Suki said.

After DJ's work is done, they were walking to the Reyes family home when they saw Amira and Zane walking to the Malik family home, who coincidentally is next to CJ's home

"Hey Suki," Amira said, waving.

"Hey you two, are you going to Timpani's slumber party?" DJ Suki said.

"I'm excited to bring the snacks," She replied.

"And drinks also," Zane said. "But how come I'm not invited?"

"You're with Keith and the boys," she answered.

"Actually, I'm going to make a rap for the talent show," Keith said,

"Okay, good luck with the sleepover," DJ said as they went inside the Reyes house,

"Thanks," Amira said as they went home.

At the Reyes household, CJ Suki gets some lessons from DJ Suki on how to mix tunes while Priscilla and Keith are looking for some music in the playlist for her to mix.

"Hey Priscilla, I got an idea, we rap our favorite song while CJ does the DJ stuff," Keith suggested.

"That's a great idea, what song can she remix?" Priscilla asked CJ.

"I got my own playlist of tunes I wanna remix," CJ said.

"Really?" they both gasped.

"Yeah, we worked on it together," DJ agreed.

"I can't wait to work on my remix," CJ squealed with excitement. "I tried writing the lyrics for the song but I don't know if it's right."

"Can I help? I can edit it," Priscilla asked her.

"Me too?" Keith added,

"Okay you two, calm down, while she does her DJ lessons, you guys can work on fixing her lyrics," DJ Suki said.

"Got it!" Priscilla agreed.

"Yeah! Let's edit her lyrics while she learns how to dj," Keith nodded.

Back at the Malik household, she and the girls are planning their performance for the talent show and Ashlyn is thinking of the song they could do.

"I can't believe I'm in a band," She said with excitement as she was getting ready to pick a song on her cellphone.

She sees a song from her favorite band, Fifth Harmony that she remembers from before while Mandy was looking at her phone for outfit inspiration.

"Girls, what do you think of this for our outfits, similar to this group that was famous back in the 90's? I always wanna be the sweet one in the group," Moxie Dewdrop asked them as she showed them a picture of a girl group in different looks. One of them looks sporty, another is cute and sweet, the third is dressed poshly, the fourth wears red, and the last one is dressed in animal prints.

"Yeah, just like the Spice Girls," Ashlyn said.

"I wanna show off my glittery look, I can dig into my closet for that crop top and pair it with white pants," Celine squealed.

"I prefer wearing jumpsuits," Mandy said.

"Can I dress in a boho look?" Karma asked her.

"For my artistic side, I should wear my tie-dye tank top," Harper added. "What about you, Ashlyn?"

"Yeah you should, any color of tops?" She asked Harper

"It's a white crop top I got from my cousin as a hand-me-down that I wanna color," she answered.

"Oh yeah?" Ashlyn asked.

"Yeah, we just have to be creative with our looks," Moxie Dewdrop answered. "But aren't we gonna make our dance moves and who gets which lines first?"

"Oh yeah, any song?" Cookie Sugarloaf asked Ashlyn, who looked at her phone, to pick the song that she found before.

"We can do this song," Ashlyn answered as she shows them a song of her favorite band Fifth Harmony.

"That's My Girl? Nice choice," Moxie Dewdrop complimented her.

"Thanks, I picked that song," She added

"Girls, don't forget to do your homework as well," Ashlyn's mother's voice called out.

"Ok al'umu," Ashlyn answered.

After they finished homework, Ashlyn was thinking of the costume she wanted to wear while everybody else was coming up with dance moves.

"Are you coming?" Moxie Dewdrop asked her.

"Oh yes, I do. I was thinking about what clothing I would wear," She said. "Sorry, I was thinking of what I'm wearing for the talent show."

"Cmon, hurry up!" Cookie Sugarloaf shouted.

"Can we wear our cultural looks?" She asked.

"No, it has to be our real girl group look," Mandy added.

Ashlyn was thinking of what cool girls costumes to wear when Harper snapped her fingers at her.

"Ashlyn, you're phasing out again," Harper said, snapping Ashlyn out of a trance.

"Huh?" Ashlyn gasped, shaking her head.

"Ashlyn, we're gonna do our dance moves," Harper said.

"Oh right, right," she said.

They started to take inspiration from a dance tutorial and mix it with their own dance moves. After conceptualizing the dance, they started doing the dance moves as Ashlyn gets nervous, without knocking over them.

"I can do this, I can do this," Ashlyn thought while dancing.

What she didn't know is that she had bumped into two of her friends. She was doing her leg work in their dance but she lost a footing and bumped into Harper and Moxie Dewdrop, knocking them down. Immediately, Celine Starburst turned off the music.

"Whoa! Ashlyn, try not to bump into Harper and Moxie," Celine said.

"Sorry...I get easily nervous trying to get the dance moves right." Ashlyn said. "I'm sorry."

"Aside from that, you can't get Archer Pastry off your head?" Cookie Sugarloaf asked her.

Ashlyn blushed lightly, shaking her head

"Um...What do you know about?" She asked her.

"Ever since you two met, you fell in love with him immediately," Cookie answered.

Ashlyn looks down, blushing lightly. "I do, it's just I can't tell him I thought he would come to see us perform."

"We just have to work hard to show him that you are great," Moxie Dewdrop said.

"Yeah, and the best part of all is to just be yourself," Mandy Sparkledust added. "Now let's go and continue practicing!"

"Ok, thanks," she responded.

They continued their practice as they danced and sang. Ashlyn and the girls are doing the dance moves to improve her skills to the song they are playing. With Amira, she is preparing for her sleepover at Timpani's house when Ashlyn checks on her.

"Now you are guys doing it? Are you still hung up on this Archer pastry guy?" Amira asked her

"I don't know what you mean," Ashlyn said, sitting on the bed.

"Oh don't be like that, I saw you talking about him, and dad thought he would hurt like your ex," Amira added

"That's a long time ago," she said.

"It's been a year since you broke up with that guy, your sister told us before," Harper said.

"Well, I did invite him to see our performance we're gonna do together," Ashlyn said. "Wouldn't let a friend miss it."

"More like friends you know," Amira said. "without benefits."

Then Ashlyn tosses a pillow at Amira.

"I'm just saying," she said.

At Timpani's home, Amira had a blast at the slumber party with Timpani and her friends.

"OK guys, which movie should we watch?" She asked a fair-skinned preteen with raspberry hair, wearing a light blue pair of pajamas and a purple headband on her hair.

"I hope it's not Titanic," she groaned

"It's not the Titanic again because we've seen it a couple of times," Amira said.

" I know we saw it. We know the part when Jack and Rose fell in love and then the boat crashed," another pubescent added.

"We'll watch Bohemian Rhapsody!" Timpani suggested.

"The one about the band called Queen?" Amira ask

"Yup! I love the songs they sing in the movie," Timpani said.

"I love the song itself," one of Timpani's friends said. "We can perform it on the talent show."

"Yeah but what song can we do?" Amira asked.

"We will rock you?" One of them suggested.

"No, we need something cool, maybe pop-related, like Crazy Little Thing Called Love," Timpani responded.

"Alright then. What should we wear to the performance?" Amira asked.

"Maybe wear what the band wore back then?" One of them suggested.

"We could try wearing 50's style outfits," Timpani added.

"Maybe leather jackets?" Amira asked

"No, we would need collared shirts, bandanas, poodle skirts, and sneakers," the other friend suggested.

"That's a great idea!" Timpani agreed.

All three groups started to practice for the rest of the week while Ashlyn was practicing with the girls without being clumsy or overthinking.

"I think we should take five?" Ashlyn asked them.

"You're trying to overthink this, aren't ya?" Cookie asked her.

"Yes?" She responded.

"You have been overthinking and trying not to be clumsy, but if Archer is the one you're thinking of, try to think of him talking to you while we practice so that you can get through it," Karma suggested.

"I'm trying not to get clumsy. It's hard when I was trying to get the moves right," Ashlyn said.

"You just need to try again when you fail, just keep moving forward and don't stop," Harper said.

In a minute, Ashlyn claimed down and inhaled and exhaled.

"You're right, I just need to keep moving forward," She said as she started to do the dance moves with them, without falling or over thinking about Archer.

"You did it!" Mandy Sparkledust shouted.

"Slay it, Queen!" Cookie Sugarloaf added.

"You did it!" Karma cheered.

"Really?" she asked them.

"Yeah!" They all chorused.

When the talent show finally came, all three groups were ready to show their talents with the other students.

"I can't believe it's here!" CJ Suki squealed.

"We're gonna win this for the Elementary section," Priscilla added.

"We're gonna go this, we're gonna do this," Ashlyn said.

"Don't stress. We're here and we're gonna be great." Mandy replied.

"And besides, there are different levels so we can do it!" Moxie added.

"I know, I try not to get nervous," Ashlyn said

The first to perform was the elementary levels. Each of them performed their talents onstage but nobody stood out than CJ Suki, Priscilla, and Keith. As CJ Suki did her DJing onstage, Priscilla and Keith did their dance routine while they all rap and sing to the crowd.

As Ashlyn and the girls were warming up backstage, they were dressed like the girl groups from the 90's.

"I think we're gonna do this!" Ashlyn said.

As she's fixing her makeup, which is composed of a bit of glittery eyeshadow on the eyelids and glitter lipstick, her hair is tied in a half ponytail with a red tank top, red skinny pants and red sneakers. Harper is wearing her tie dye crop top with short, denim skirt, sneakers, and colorful wristbands with her hair adorned with a bandana, Cookie Sugarloaf wore her sporty t-shirt with her shorts, knee high socks, and sneakers, Celine Starburst wore a preppy look by wearing crystal encrusted hair clips on her ponytail, a purple choker, a white long sleeve shirt, a pastel peach button up sweater, matching tartan skirt, knee high socks, and flat shoes, Mandy is dressed in yellow overalls with one strap hanging loose at the left, long pants cuffed at the ankles, an orange and pink tank top, short boots, and a pink watch, Moxie Dewdrop showed off her popstar look by wearing a yellow, cropped t-shirt, orange skirt, and platform shoes, and Karma looked good in her hippie inspired look with a yellow short sleeveless top with detachable bell-sleeves, bell bottom pants, and platform sandals with flowers on her hair. Just then, Amira, Timpani, and their friends appeared, wearing frou-frou dresses with short letterman jackets and short boots, an off-shoulder suits with rubber shoes, and top with elbow-length sleeves or collared shirts with short sleeves and poodle skirt with poodle designs and sneakers with their hair styled in the 50's style rockabilly look.

"You guys look great, especially Ashlyn," Amira said "Which song are you guys gonna sing in the talent show?"

"Well I picked one song from Fifth Harmony." Ashlyn said.

"Fifth Harmony. Didn't they split like a while ago?" Amira added.

"Yeah but it's a good song to fit for the performance we can do." Ashlyn said.

After Keith Priscilla and CJ finish their song, the other performers from the elementary levels perform next. When the middle school levels were up to show their talents, Amira, Timpani, and their friends came next.

"We will, we got this," Mandy said. "Ashlyn made sure she was doing great with the group."

"Remember we told you," Karma said to Ashlyn. "Focus on the dancing and have fun, and no more distractions and overthinking."

"I got it, what would go wrong in my head?" Ashlyn said.

"Give it up for the Sparkle Girls!" the host announced.

"Ooh! This is gonna be exciting," Harper squealed with delight.

"I can't wait to impress everybody," Moxie Dewdrop added.

"Now it's our turn," Ashlyn said as she inhaled and exhaled.

"We're gonna be the greatest." Harper said as they were making sure they're not getting anything on things on their clothes or they're makeup.

Ashlyn felt knots in her stomach but she remembered the advice that she was told by Mandy and Karma: don't be nervous. When their group name was announced to signal them to go onstage, Ashlyn and the girls went onstage.

They finished the song as everybody was cheering, clapping, and roaring. As they bowed, Ashlyn spotted her family including Archer in the audience. When they went backstage, they all hugged Ashlyn.

"Ashlyn you did great!" Cookie said while hugging her.

"Yeah, you did awesome!" Karma said.

"No, we all did awesome." Ashlyn said to them while being hugged by them.

At the backstage, Amira and her friends cheered for them as Amira hugged her.

"You did great sis!"

"Thanks, I didn't get nervous!" Ashlyn said as she smiled.

For the finale of the talent show, the winners were announced.

"For the elementary level, the winner is.........The Pop Crew!" The host announced that CJ Suki, Keith, and Priscilla ran onstage to receive their trophy.

"Well at least, we did, we are winners to ourselves," Ashlyn said. "That matters."

"And for the middle school level, the winner is Timpani and her group for their performance of Crazy Little Thing Called Love!" the host announced. Amina and her friends jumping cheering. As they went on stage they were excited she turned to her sister who smiled back meaning congratulations. Finally, the moment that the high schoolers are waiting for.

"Finally, for the high school level, the winner is............The Sparkle Girls!"

Ashlyn eyes widen as the girls jumping and squealing in excitement as they go on stage all together smiling as everyone clapping and cheering. Ashlyn smiled as her group were smiling excitedly. The host handed them a trophy and they showed it to the crowd.

"I'm so proud!" Omar cried as he applauded Ashlyn and her team.

She smiled as she saw her father clapping for her, so was her mother and everyone she knew. Then, she spotted Archer Pastry among the crowd and Ashlyn blushed lightly in reaction. When they all went backstage, Archer approached her and Ashlyn felt red upon her reaction.

"Oh hey Archer," She said as she tried to hide her blushing face. She felt nervous as her heart was beating too fast at the moment she saw him after the stage performance.

"I just wanted to say congratulations, you know, for your performance," He said.

She smiled looking at him as they smiled at each other's awkwardness. Archer smiled as he spoke more.

"So, do you wanna go out with me?" he asked her.

"Yes!" She answered.

While the two talked, CJ Suki, Keith, and Priscilla were confused about something.

"Guys, do you think that they'll have their happy ending?" Priscilla asked them.

"How did you know?" Keith wondered.

"The way they interact, they're meant to be together," she answered.

"Oh yeah, they do," he gasped,

"Just like DJ Suki and Demo," CJ added.

"I can't wait for Valentine's Day, I bet they'll be together," Keith said.

"Yeah, me too," she added as they watched Archer Pastry and Ashlyn fall in love while leaving the school.

"Yes I like it too," She said a bit blushing looking at Archer.

"I like to go with you at times." She said as they smiled at each other and Archer smiled softly.

As they started to fall in love, they began hanging out and going on dates at times until they became an item in high school.

This chapter is based on Bob's Burgers episode, The Hormone-iums but with a twist.
