Rise Up!

The World Tour Music Festival continued in the Middle East as the bands are on the move again. The festival in Kenya was a success but they also made a positive impact in Morocco because the Snack Pack's tracksuit fashion became a trend among the youth there. When they came to Egypt, Darnell tried to come up with ideas for a dance routine and a song but felt uninspired.

"Aww man!" he gasped in disappointment.

"What's wrong, bro?" Cooper asked him.

"Are you alright, sweetie?" Emi asked him.

"Hey Cooper, I lost my inspiration to make a dance routine and at the same time, an inspiration for a song," Darnell said.

"How did it happen?" Cooper asked again.

"I dunno, it feels like I'm having a creator's block," he sighed. "Can I ask your bandmates for help to help me find inspiration like how they helped me make my outfits groovy?"

In a minute, Emi, Cooper and Darnell approached the rest of the Snack Pack.

"Okay Darnell, you lost your inspiration to make a dance move and a song," Poppy asked him.

"Yeah, I feel like I'm losing my mojo," he sighed in despair.

"Darnell, you helped me learn to open up to my friends but now, you're losing inspiration?" Rose asked him.

"Yeah, that's why I need help," he added.

"I got an idea, we can look for inspiration around here in the hotel," Poppy suggested.

"That will be a great idea," he said.

They went around the hotel, looking for inspiration but what they saw caught their eyes. Darnell was amazed by the sight of the drummers performing in front of them while Rose was mesmerized by the belly dancers dancing with the drummers.

"Wow, those dancers are graceful like Egyptian cobras," Rose gasped. "Maybe I should try learning that dance and incorporating them in my dance moves."

"You know that girls only perform the dance around women?" Darnell informed her.

"Really?" Satin and Chenille gasped.

"Yeah, when the mothers of the soon-to-be grooms gather around with the other mothers to find the right brides, the future brides perform the dance in front of all the women to prove their eligibility for marriage," he said. "The dance is an exercise to strengthen their bodies in preparation for childbirth."

"Maybe we should learn that to incorporate the moves to our dance routines," Rose said.

"Yeah," Poppy agreed.

"Awww man, I can't find a perfect dance inspiration around here," he sighed.

"It's alright, we'll be going to the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities tomorrow, maybe you can find inspiration from the exhibits there," Branch assured him.

The next day, the bands started their tour in the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities after breakfast. They left the hotel with their belongings and packed them in their tour buses.

"Remember everybody, we look but do not touch," the guide said as he led the group around the museum.

"Wow, the museum has a lot of treasures from over 5000 years ago," Darnell gasped.

"These treasures are from ancient eras when kings called Pharaohs ruled Egypt," Rose informed them.

"Can a woman become a pharaoh?" Barb asked them

"Yeah, Hatshepsut rules as a pharaoh and queen," Essence answered.

Rose imagined herself in an ancient Egyptian fantasy where she is a queen, being carried around by slaves on a palanquin and then, the Snack Pack and their labelmates, all dressed in ancient Egyptian outfits started dancing.

All the old paintings in the tomb
They do the sand dance, don't you know
If they move too quick (Oh-way-oh)
They're falling down like a domino
All the wealthy merchants by the Nile
They got the money on the deal
Gold crocodiles (Oh-way-oh)
They snap their teeth when they see your heel

Let all the people say oh!
(Way-oh-way-oh, ooh-way-oh-way-oh)
Walk like an Egyptian

The servant girls take their trays
They go around and attend the queen
They've got the moves (Oh-way-oh)
Her wig is a mess, then they fix it up

All the school kids so sick of books
They like the parties and the band
When the school bell rings (Oh-way-oh)
They're walking like an Egyptian

All the kids in the marketplace say
(Way-oh-way-oh, ooh-way-oh-way-oh)
Walk like an Egyptian

Slide your feet up the street, bend your back
Shift your arm, then you pull it back
Life is hard, you know (Oh-way-oh)
So strike a pose on a chariot

If you want to find all the guards
They're hanging out in the palace doorway
They sing and dance (Oh-way-oh)
They spin the spears when the music play
All the priests with their spells
The gods have their competitions
And the pharaohs know (Oh-way-oh)
They walk the line like Egyptians

All the guards in the palace say
(Way-oh-way-oh, ooh-way-oh-way-oh)
Walk like an Egyptian

Rose sighed in her daydream until she snapped out when Barb spat out another fact.

"Too bad those kings are all inbred chucklefucks," Barb said, which snapped her out of the fantasy.

"That was a real tragedy," Rose sighed.

The bands marveled at the sight of the exhibits, like perfume vessels, gold rings, and mummies from the valley of the kings. Then, they went to a room filled with hieroglyphics to learn about the old writings. Rose wrote her name in hieroglyphics, which impressed her labelmates and her band.

"Wow, you really love history," Quincy said but he noticed that Darnell was feeling down. "What's wrong D?"

"Dad, I feel like I'm out of inspiration for a dance move and a song to write," he sighed.

"Everybody goes through these, you just need some time to find it, just don't hurry about it," Quincy said.

They went to another room where they saw the treasures found from Tutankhamun's tomb.

"Did you know that King Tutankhamun was nine when he became Pharaoh?" Quincy informed them.

"Wow, that is so young to be king," Branch's jaw dropped upon hearing it.

"Unfortunately, he died at the age of nineteen, what an unlucky guy," Rose added.

"That's a lot of golden chariots and furniture," Poppy gasped.

"There are more golden objects here than anywhere else in the world," the guide said.

"Guys, does this dude wear a skirt?" Cooper asked him when he pointed to a statue of a Pharaoh and he noticed that it was wearing a skirt.

"Pants were not yet invented at that time," he told him as Cooper's fantasy shows the Snack Pack wearing ancient Egyptian clothing.

"Men wore kilts that hung in folds while women wore long dresses," Rose joined him.

"What about the kids?" Poppy asked them.

"The children wore nothing until they are six years old," the guide answered, which made everybody laugh in response.

Darnell gasped at the sight of the statues and painted bas-reliefs in different poses.

"Wow, guys, these poses that the models make look like they're dancing," he said.

"That's how the art looks like in those days, they didn't use a canvas and their paper, called papyrus, was only used for writing," Branch said. "The papyrus was so precious that they would write notes of bits of broken pottery."

"Now I got inspiration for my dance moves but I'm still out of inspiration for a song to write," Darnell said.

"We can practice the dance moves you thought of when we go on a river cruise to Giza, where the festival will be taking place," Rose said.

After touring the museum, the bands walked with their roadies to a river cruise, where they'll stay until the music festival is over.

"Did you know that the Nile River is the second longest river in the world?" Quincy informed them.

"Yeah, it was considered sacred by the ancient Egyptians too," Rose added.

"Correct, they considered it as a god too, but they also have a crocodile deity," he added.

"Oh yeah, I remember seeing mummified animals back in the museum too," Branch said.

During the cruise, they had traditional Egyptian food for lunch to fill their stomachs after a day of going around the museum. After lunch, Darnell went to the deck of the cruise and looked at the Egyptian art on his phone. Then, he started mimicking the moves and incorporated the dance. As he was dancing, he noticed Rose and the girls were doing some belly dance moves.

"Whoa, girls, you dance like cobras," Darnell complimented.

"Thanks, we're trying out belly dancing," Rose thanked him as they practiced the dances. "You're doing well with the dance."

"Yeah, but the poses are too stiff," he said.

"Have you tried looking at the stars, they are everywhere when it's nighttime but astronomy played a role in the Middle East during the Middle Ages," Rose said.

"You mean the patterns that the star makes, maybe I'll use them as dance patterns," he said.

"That's gonna be a great idea, maybe you can find inspiration for a song from the dance," Poppy said.

"Yeah, the stars can be a good inspiration for a song," he said. "That's it, I can make a song about stars."

"Darnell, you did it, you overcame your creative block!" Cooper cheered.

"Awww honey, I know you'll do it!" Emi said as she lifted him on his arms and kissed him.

"Yeah Emi, I did it, I took inspiration from the stars and the ancient Egyptian art for both my dance routine and the song," he said.

"Yes babe, and we are ready to perform when the music festival comes," she said.

The World Tour Music Festival finally came as the people started to flock to see the bands and performers appear onstage to perform. When the Funky Circus's turn came, they appeared onstage with star prints on their outfits and performed their first song, which is an original song that Darnell wrote as they did the new dance routine.

"Okay everybody, this one is a cover of a song that I wanna sing because even though there are obstacles coming to us, we must never stop dreaming and never give up," he said. "Can I ask Rose to sing it?"

Rose arrived onstage as the song started playing.

I can hear you whisper even though you're talkin' low
Catchin' every word but I'm just gonna let 'em go, oh
Let 'em go, oh

Takin' every arrow you've been aimin' at my heart
Spin 'em all around and turn 'em into shootin' stars, oh
Shootin' stars

Gonna give it all that I got
Shining when you tell me to stop
I'm the one on a mission, makin' wishes
Livin' out my dream

You can try to steal my air
I'm not goin' anywhere but up, up
Anywhere but up
Your rain is comin' down
I'm not gonna drown, gonna rise up
Yeah, I'm gonna light up
Never gonna give up, my sun is comin' up
Turn the music up (up), up (up), up (up), up

Tearin' up the past, don't want your negativity
Choosin' different thoughts so you'll never get to me
You won't get to me

Any kind of stone that you throw
I'm just gonna make into gold
I'm the one on fire, flyin' higher
Than you ever dreamed

You can try to steal my air
I'm not goin' anywhere but up, up
Anywhere but up
Your rain is comin' down
I'm not gonna drown, gonna rise up
Yeah, I'm gonna light up
Never gonna give up, my sun is comin' up
Turn the music up (up), up (up), up (up)

I'm finally wakin' (up) up
Yeah, it's time to shake it (up) up
Things are lookin' (up) up (oh, oh)
Up, up

Gonna give it all that I got
Shining when you tell me to stop
I'm the one on fire, flyin' higher
Livin' out my dream (yeah)

You can try to steal my air (steal my air)
I'm not goin' anywhere but up, up
(Anywhere but up) anywhere but up (yeah)
Your rain is comin' down
I'm not gonna drown, gonna rise up
Yeah, I'm gonna light up
Never gonna give up, my sun is comin' up
Turn the music up (up), up (up)

Never gonna give up (up, up)

BTW, there are lots of uneasy topics around here so read it at your own risk. The songs, Walk Like An Egyptian belongs to the Bangles but part of the lyrics is changed to match the ancient Egyptian vibes and the music to match it is from the Wilma De Jesus Cairo mix cover while the song, Up belongs to Star Darlings.
