Chapter 4: Split
"You are so unbelievable!" Satin screeched, her arms crossed.
"Well likewise to you, sista'!" Chenille screamed, flailing her hands to the sky. Satin whirled around to face her,
"You know what? Your no sister of mine!" She yelled back. Chenille dramatically placed her hand on her chest and gasped, completely stunned by such a statement. Here they were, fighting over a boy and now on the brink of wanting nothing to do with one another.
"W-well if that's how you feel then maybe we should split!" Chenille choked, wishing she had never suggested such a thing. Satin hesitated but being a stubborn gal, she didn't back down.
"Fine! Who needs you anyway!" She huffed and with that, she broke their one connection. Chenille felt her heart shatter.
"Hmph!" Satin breathed and walked away, not even looking back, her pale pink skin disappeared from sight. Chenille stood there, eyes wide and sorrow across her face, she stayed like this for awhile and started to sniffle, she was having a hard time breathing, tears choked in the back of her throat. She ran into the forest and didn't stop, crying her heart out. After a while, she grew tired, from running and crying. She plopped down on a tiny moss-covered stone, it was almost nightfall. She looked around. Tiny hoots, mini screeches, and low bellows were heard from the distance. She huddled close to the stone, fearful.
"I ain't goin' home... not now." she persisted and curled up on the stone and created a cacoon from her hair.

Back at the Troll Village, Satin began to pace back and forth, nibbling on her fingers, lost in thought.
"Where is she? She would have been home by now," she asked herself frantically. She thought about what to do. She briskly walked out of her pod and to Poppy's. She knocked and waited for a few seconds. Poppy flung the door open, wearing a huge grin but, that soon changed when she saw her pale pink friend's worried expression.
"Satin, wha-what's wrong? And where's Chenille?" she looked at her in confusion. Satin sighed heavily.
"We had a fight and I said something I regret. But I'm not gonna admit anything to her until she apologizes!" She said sternly. Poppy looked at her blankly.
"So..." Poppy was waiting for to say more.
"My point is that I just wanna know if she's okay. Have you seen her? She hasn't come home." Satin stated slightly agitated.
"No, I- well last I saw was this morning with you when you two went on your Forest Stroll." Poppy recalled. Satin's eyes widened.
"Oh my gosh! What if she never left?!" she said frantically. Her mind swirled, panic.
"Woah Woah, calm down. I'm sure she's fine. This is Chenille we're talkin' about." Poppy reassured, placing a hand on Satin's shoulder. Satin muttered incoherently. The two rushed to a certain rock with a welcome mat.
"Branch Branch Branch!!" Poppy hollered as she pounded the side of her curled fist on the door. A few seconds later Branch opened the door, rubbing his eyes sleepily.
"Poppy do you know how late it is?" Branch muttered aloud.
"That's not important, Chenille is missing!" Poppy said frantically, fiddling with her hands. Branch opened his sleepy eyes slightly and glanced at Satin and to Poppy but double takes to Satin.
"Woah! Where- aren't you two suppose to be joined by the hair?" Branch asked flabbergasted, completely awake.
"Only if we choose to be." she huffed in annoyance. Poppy smirked slightly, the fact that Branch didn't know everything was surprising.
"Wait wait, you said she's missing?" he asked trying to refocus his train of thought.
"Yes! Can you please help us?" Satin breathed. She was growing impatient. Every second wasted was a second her sister could be closer or already in danger and it was driving her crazy.
"Where'd you last see her?"Branch asked as he hopped out of his Bunker. Satin felt her heart race and her breath quickening,
"Ah um during our Forest Stroll this morning, near the forest." she began to frantically stutter. Poppy put her hand on her shoulder reassuringly. Branch had grabbed a notepad out of his blue hair and began to take note.
"And you last saw her this morning?" he added. She nodded.
'That was hours ago, she could be anywhere.' he thought to himself. He placed the notepad back in his hair and jumped back in his Bunker.
"Branch, where are you going?" Poppy asked as she peered down the entrance. He returned a few moments later with a tinier backpack than the one he used on their journey to Bergen Town.
"I'm heading out to find her," he grabbed a tiny glowbug and placed it in a lantern and it illuminated the night. Poppy began to speak.
"No, Pops. You stay here. If I'm not back by morning then you can organize a search party." he stated sternly. She clamped her mouth shut and groaned, not liking this idea at all but went with it.
"Please find her, I don't know what I'd do without her." Satin pleaded as she held his hand with worry. He gave her a reassuring nod and she let go of his hand. Poppy walked up to him, her eyebrows laced with concern, worry, maybe even fear. She embraced Branch tightly and closed her eyes, he reciprocated.
"Be careful." she almost whispered.
"I will, I always am," he said gently and headed towards the forest, leaving the Princess and Fashionista behind.

A beast began to bellow in the distance, the night grew colder. Chenille huddled in her cocoon of hair, shivering. She was terrified of what lay hidden the darkness of the shadows.
"I'm such an idiot," she muttered to herself. She began to think about what happened earlier that day, how she and Satin were fighting over a certain orange Troll with green hair and orange eyes. Aspen Heitz.
"What was I thinking, a boy isn't more important than my sister." she began to tear up. She clutched her face and began to cry softly. Moments later the beast that was bellowing in the distance seemed to be getting closer, it's roaring getting louder. She gasped with fear and looked through the tiny lines in her hair around her. Nothing she could see, it was too dark. A certain orangish snake-like creature slithered into view, it was huge! It's felt like body and beady eyes inched closer to Chenille. It had seen her and she knew. She released herself from her cocoon that she once thought was keeping her safe. She began to run but tripped on the small rocks that lay hidden in the moss. She faceplanted on the ground and groaned her pain. She whirled around in time to see the Felt Snake loom above her, ready to strike, she screamed in terror as it lunged. She clenched her eyes shut and flung her hands to shield her face. Nothing. All she heard was a clang.
'Wha- was that metal?' she thought to herself. She peeked. What she saw surprised her. Branch stood in front of her, in a fighting stance.
"Branch!" she yelled in excitement. She stood up and stayed hidden behind him. She looked in front of them, a frying pan on the ground and the snake shaking its head trying to get rid of the pain.
"You alright?" Branch asked, not taking his eyes off the Felt Snake.
"I am now!" she beamed. The Felt Snake refocused on them and hissed angrily. It lunged forward and Branch whacked its face with his hair. It blinked in surprise.
"Go hide!" Branch ordered. Chenille ran to the nearest tree and hid as a gray rock, inside her hair. The snake was becoming furious by the second. Branch ran towards it, an idea formulating in his head. It followed closely behind. Branch zig-zagged around and jumped over the Felt Snake's tail and weaved through it over and over. He stopped by a tree and as the Felt Snake began to strike it was jerked back and flopped to the ground. Its entire body was in knots and paralyzed. Chenille revealed herself and looked at the display.
"Woah..." she said in amazement. Branch rushed to her.
"Come on, let's head back to Troll Village," he instructed and the two rushed into the darkness of the forest.

Satin paced back and forth in Poppy's pod. Poppy walked out with a small tray with two cupcakes and drinks. She looked at her dear friend with worry. She had been pacing since Branch left and that was hours ago. It was already 2 in the morning and neither had slept.
"Oh, what's the point!" Satin wailed as she sunk to her knees. Poppy quickly set the tray down and rushed to her.
"What if he didn't find her? What if she's already dead or worse what if they're both dead!?" she sobbed loudly. Poppy held her close, hushing her gently.
"No no no, don't say that. Have hope. Come on this is Branch we're talking about. He'll find her." Poppy stroked her hair soothingly as she cried softly. Moments later, there was a knock on the door. Poppy sprung up and scrambled to the door and flung it open. There Branch was, his sea green body slightly scuffed with dirt and mud, as well as Chenille's pale blue complexion. They looked like they had been through a lot.
"Oh my gosh! Get in here!" Poppy yelled. She hugged Chenille tightly.
"Oh we were so worried, get in there, Satin is so upset." Poppy gently pushed her to her living room space. She turned to look at Branch and clutched his hands tightly and inched closer to him.
"Thank you so much, Branch." she breathed, as she looked deep into his eyes.
"Anytime Poppy." Branch said sweetly as he stared into her eyes as well. The twins were catching up and hugging.
"Oh, my gosh girl lets never let boys get in between us again!" Satin wailed.
"Yeah, I was so scared out there!" Chenille wailed back. They stood up and joined hair again and smiled at one another and embraced each other in another hug and didn't let go.
"You're not hurt, are you?" Poppy asked Branch.
"Pfft, Nah. I'm fine." Branch brushed his arm off of dirt. Poppy hugged him tightly and he wrapped his arms around her and sighed with relief.
"Branch fought off a Felt Snake all by himself, it was awesome!" Chenille squealed.
Still hugging, Poppy's eyes popped open and looked at Branch startled.
"You did what now!?" she asked harshly. Branch rubbed his neck nervously.
"Hehe, long story." he grinned nervously.
