Homecoming Part I
I can't believe that we are doing this again, but it's the only plan that we've got. Claire, Toby, and I stood side by side encouraging ourselves to run into the electrified orange crystals that were blocking our way to freedom and to rescue Jim.
"We're committing to this." Claire said.
"Yes, we're committed." Toby agreed.
"Jim needs our help now more than ever. We are doing this." I said.
"Toby, Monica, don't hold back." Claire said.
"I'm not." Toby promised.
"Wouldn't dream of it." I stated.
"On three..." Toby said. We counted down, then charged towards the crystals. The crystals shocked us and the shock wave threw us backwards. We groaned as we got up and Toby commented, "I really thought we had it this time."
"I don't think this door is going to open." Claire groaned. We heard Chompsky chatter excitedly on the other side. Then, Claire suggested, "Kanjigar said we needed Chompsky to be our guide and more. You don't think..." I caught on to what she was suggested as Claire lifted Chompsky towards the key hole. The key hole was large enough for Chompsky to fit inside. At first, he refused to do it, but Claire forced him into the key hole while saying, "You'll forgive me if this works." And it did end up working.
"Great work, Claire." I said. Chompsky chattered at me angrily, then I added, "You too, Chompsky."
"How would Kanjigar know that?" Toby questioned.
"Who cares? Let's get Jim." Claire said. Then, she ordered, "Chompsky, go find Blinky and Aaarrrgghh." Chompsky jumped off of Claire's hand and zoomed away.
"Ha! Such a spunky little fellow." Toby said. We headed in the direction that they took Jim, took a few random turns that we hoped were correct, but ended up just going in circles and coming up the same skull that we saw before. As we stopped to catch our breath, Toby exclaimed, "We've been here before. We're running in circles." We heard the echo of metal clashing against each other and heard Jim.
"I can hear him." Claire said while walking up to the skull which seemed to be where the sound was coming from.
"So can I." I said.
"He's got to be on the other side of this skull!" Claire stated. How do we get to him though?
"I used to love mazes. Not anymore." Toby panted. He leaned his arm against the nose of the skull. I walked a little ways down the hall to see if there was a passage that we had missed that could lead us to where Jim is. That's when I heard something activate.
"What did you do?" Claire asked.
"That wasn't me." Toby protested. Suddenly, the skull opened up like a door and Toby and Claire fell down the steep passageway.
"Toby! Claire!" I shouted. Before I could anything, the skull closed back up again separating me from the others. I could still hear them screaming. How long was the passage way or did they run into trouble? I had to do something quickly. Come on, Monica. Think. Your friends are in trouble. They must've leaned against something to have the secret passageway open. I pressed the walls where Claire and Toby were leaning against beforehand, but nothing was activating. Then, I looked at the nose that Toby had his elbow against. It couldn't be that simple. Could it?
I pushed the skull's nose. Suddenly, the skull opened up again and I was sliding down the same steep passageway that Claire and Toby were. I didn't hear them screaming anymore so they must've reached the other end. Then, I finally reached the end of the passage way and groaned as I landed on top of Claire and Toby.
"Oh! Everything hurts!" Toby complained.
"Sorry." I muttered and helped him and Claire up. Then, we all shouted Jim's name when we saw him. It wasn't just him though. It was Nomura as well. I almost forgot that I was technically the one who banished her to this realm when Draal and I fought her at the battle of Killahead Bridge. This was going to be fun especially when Toby screamed,
"Not just Jim!"
For lo and behold, was Gunmar sitting on his throne.
