Vaati
Name: Vaati
Franchise: Legend of Zelda
Species: minish
Gender: Male
Lord Vaati, a minish who used the Minish Cap to become a powerful dark sorcerer. One of the few villians other than Ganon or Ganondorf in the entire series of Legand of Zelda, Vaati is about as bad as Ganondorf can get. Even without the Triforce of Power, as Ganon needs this object to fight Link, Vaati can easily take advantage of the situation with ever growing dark magic and demon powers.
Vaati was originally a minish, a extremely small race of mice-like creatures, and just as intelligent as the people of Hyrule, if not smarter. They are also known as the Picori by Hyrule. They not only created the Picori blade, now known as the Four Sword, but also created the Minish Cap, a magic hat that grants it's wearer at least one wish. While Vaati was growing up and studying magic, he also found the dark history of Hyrule's dark magic and the power of the Light Force. This information corrupted Vaati's mind, and compelled him to take the Minish Cap and become the most powerful sorcerer in Hyrule, while still a child for his age. The first thing he did upon becoming a sorcerer was turn his teacher into a talking bird-hat.
He's next course of action was to obtain the Light Force to increase his powers even further. But he had to find it first. That's when he found out that there was a magic competition in Hyrule's Castle Town, where the winner will get the chance to touch the Picori Blade, which sealed the dark magic and evil creatures of the past away. Vaati figured it contained the Light Force as well, so he entered this competition and won. Much to his surprise, the Light Force was not inside. When the young Link and Zelda tried to stop him, Vaati turned Zelda into a statue, which almost hit Link and knocked him unconscious. Vaati hid himself away until he found out that Zelda herself contained the Light Force inside her. He then attacked the royal castle and turned everyone inside to stone just as he did Zelda. As Vaati prepared to take Zelda's light, Link came with the repaired Picori Blade to face Vaati. Lord Vaati then immediately turned into his first demon form and attacked. After being weakened, he became even more powerful and demonic, not even remotely looking human anymore, let alone Minish. After changing one last time, he was finally defeated and Zelda was set free.
In the manga version of the Minish Cap, Vaati became his original Minish self and returned home with his mentor. However, the game itself says that Vaati's soul was sealed in the Picori Blade, which later became the Four Sword. Vaati later returned in his demon form a century later to kidnap and marry the Zelda of this new time, again for her light passed down from her mother. Link took the Four Sword, causing his body to split into four individual Links, one completely green colored, one blue colored, one red, and one purple. Vaati was defeated again and resealed in the Four Sword, but he was set free when that generation of Link had to use it to fight a newly resurrected Ganondorf, the same one from Ocarina of Time, though Vaati didn't become as much as a threat Ganondorf became. After Vaati was defeated, he has yet to return even in the spin-off games, suggesting Vaati is still trapped in the Four Sword or dead all together.
