Are those whispers or static you hear faintly? Probably just the wind. Are you feeling watched? Probably just stress or something. Saw something move at the edge of your sight, but found nothing there? Probably just imagination. Right?

The static should've been your first clue. Things aren't what they may seem, especially if you're referring to one of the most enigmatic, mysterious, and frightening beings known: The Slenderman.

Seen as a faceless, tall, and widely popular monster in a tuxedo, along with reportedly 8 tentecule-like appendages from his back. His skin is pure white, and his height is said to be between 6 and 15ft. tall. Slender is part of a group of frightening and terrifying beings known as Creepypastas. In fact, the infamous Slender started as a mere creepypasta meme.

But once he came, he quickly gained attention. First it was just fans praising the creator for his creation, then the idea of Slender being the leader of the pastas, then his rumored brothers, then his rumored existence reported globally, then his getting his own games, then occasional appearances or references in other games, then, recently, his own movie. Quite the rise to star-dom for such an Internet generated beast.

As previously stated, the infamous Slender is said to have brothers, presumably 3 older brothers. Though they are often seen as jokes off the original Slender, they have become respected by many fans.

Splendorman- A cheerful, more passive version of Slender, though he is said to have killed people, just not often. Unlike Slender, Splendor is seen to have a "shadow face" that he shows emotions through. He is described as having polka-dotted clothes and striped tentecules, some of which have jingle bells attached. He is possibly the most popular of the "Happypastas", creepypastas with more surprisingly cheerful and passive stories and personalities.

Trendorman- Similar to Slender, except is known to have a heightened sense of style and fashion. He is capable of disguising himself as a mannequin for an entire day, then roams by night. He is said to be capable of turning people into mannequins with full awareness of their surroundings but incapable of movement or speech. He is said to have striped tentecules as well, but with purple and white stripes. Otherwise, he is very much like Slender.

Offenderman- I think the name speaks for itself as to what he does. Unlike his brothers, he actually shows his real face to people, though it'll be somewhat hidden under his hat, usually seen as a fedora. He is also said to wear only boots and a trenchcoat and it's considered that him giving you a rose pretty much means "you're screwed", and considering this is Offendy, that's screwed on multiple levels. No stripes, no other real differences. He is very much like his younger brother Slender otherwise. He is sometimes referred to as Sexual Offenderman.

Slender has been reported to be a living creature, like Bigfoot, Nessie, or the Chupacabra. In 2014, creepypasta popularity boomed when a girl reported being attacked by Slender. After the incident subsided, the creepypasta community reminded everyone that "there is a thin line between fiction and reality". There was even an episode of Law and Order: Special Victims based off the Slenderman case of 2014. He even made a cameo appearance in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Slender himself is said to be capable of teleportation, telepathy, dream manipulation, and sometimes able to become human. He is often seen as a workaholic, seeing as how he is the leader of the Creepypastas. He is said to have allowed the other creepypastas to live in his mansion deep in the woods safe from those who oppose them. Slender is often said to be the pasta who introduced having proxies into the creepypasta community. This is first seen when a version of him known as the Operator appears in Marble Hornets, a YouTube video series. In it 2 characters, fan-named Masky and Hoodie, have often been referred to by fans as Slender's proxies, though the creators of Marble Hornets have repeatedly said that Masky and Hoodie are not Creepypastas. Another one of Slender's supposed proxies is Ticci Toby, a teenage boy with many defects, including Torrents Syndrome and C.I.P.A. It's even said that Slender was directly responsible for making Toby what he is now. He is also said to have a proxy called Kate the Chaser, who supposedly originated from the Slender series of games.

All and all, Slender is a powerful creature that is not to be disrespected. He is often seen kidnapping and killing children and young adults who wander in his forsaken forest by night.
