Ridley(picture above), captain of a space pirate crew. The extraterrestrial nemesis of Samus Aran the bounty hunter. Reason being that he, Ridley, tried to take over Samus's world while she only a child, and he killed Samus's mother in front of Samus. After surviving the explosion that Samus's father used against Ridley and his crew, Ridley has been a constant thorn in Samus's side. And quite the thorn he is. Him and his pirate crew try all they can to take what loot and planets they can, and Samus seems to get herself involved in many of these plans. Ridley often times is the one who gets involved in Samus's plans however. Despite his many deaths, Ridley either is cloned or just survives and escapes each time he is defeated.

We've seen Ridley's baby form, believe it or not. Imagine a furby with bird legs and teeth, not to mention a tongue. Oh, and white fur. Not exactly the image of cuteness, but better than what comes next. Basically a miniature Ridley with no wings and a last remnant of white hair. Next is Ridley himself. Despite his looks, Ridley is not a dragon, but an alien that happens to look like one. According to the Metriod mangas, Ridley spoke human English like Samus, and it wasn't just some alien translation that Samus understood, it was truly Ridley speaking English. Just like a human. It's possible since Ridley feeds on human flesh to heal himself, he may have learned to speak English through his victims. If this is true, there's no telling what all Ridley knows about humans and the like.

As far as what Ridley is capable of, he can shoot fireballs at his foes, with him controlling the intensity of the fire. He also can slash at his foes with giant claws. He can fly and ram himself into his enemies and not have any injuries from the resulting destruction. He also has a sharp tail end which he can stab his enemies with. He can absorb energy and become more powerful. Given the chance to a course. Sometimes when Ridley is cloned or healed, he comes back as a cybernetic version of himself called Meta Ridley. He's also been brought back as a robot called Mecha Ridley, which Ridley built himself. He's also been a subject to a virus that copies it's host's DNA, usually controlling it's host in the process, and makes it's own body from that DNA. Ridley has also been frozen and shattered to bits and a clone of him was turned to stone, and yet, either he or his space pirate crew find a way to bring Ridley back every time.

It has been announced that Ridley will finally be a playable character in Smash Bros Ultimate for Switch. The hype is real, as Ridley has been a long time requested character for the Smash series. It's not the only time we've seen Ridley outside of the Metriod games, if you consider an appearance in the Nintendo Land game an actual appearance.
