Dr.Robotnik, also known as Eggman, has tried time after time to defeat Sonic and rule all of Mobius. Even with his 200 IQ he still loses, sometimes under silly circumstances. His army of robots and array of traps and vehicles are his weapons of choice, and one of his greatest weapons, if not his greatest period, is arguably Metal Sonic(picture above), the robot equivalent of Sonic the hedgehog. Metal Sonic himself has tried to take over everything, though Sonic often beats him before that happens.

Dr.Robotnik, as usual, was tired of Sonic and his friends getting in his way of world domination. He decided to create a robot powerful enough to match, if not destroy, Sonic in every way. To make it more painful, he felt he needed a robot in Sonic's image. Hence Metal Sonic. Some sorces say Metal Sonic was going to be called Mecha Sonic, who ended up as his own character separate from Metal Sonic. Some pictures of Metal Sonic show he may have been originally designed with a mouth, though Metal Sonic ended up without. Metal Sonic is usually silent and emotionless while serving Dr.Robotnik, but Metal Sonic has been programmed with emotions. He just chooses to be merciless, cold, and cruel whenever he does show emotion. Since he was created to destroy Sonic, Metal Sonic developed a obsession with his original. He wanted to destroy Sonic, and it only gets worse with each defeat Metal Sonic suffers. He sometimes sides with Shadow the hedgehog, though Metal Sonic prefers to go solo. Metal Sonic rarely speaks, and even when he does he's usually in another form.

Metal Sonic's powers are far different from his original. He can exceed speeds that can outrun Sonic's, who's been able to break the sound barrier. Metal Sonic also has the ability to use an impenetrable shield. He can also shoot a large laser from his chest cavity which he can fire with extreme accuracy. Metal Sonic's more well-known abilities, however, is the ability to copy other's powers. Though his copied powers aren't as good or powerful as the original power. If Metal Sonic comes into contact with a Chaos Emerald, he can become Hyper Metal Sonic and gain more power. If he comes into contact with lighting, he can become Metal Overlord. In this form, he has the power to shoot lighting from his hands and physically shapeshift into water and back again. He supposedly has more powers in this form, but they have yet to be revealed. Metal Sonic can pull in any sorce of metal, such as cars or other assorted vehicles, to become a gigantic floating beast with wires hanging from him and large claws and teeth. Metal Sonic has access to shooting large crystal-like projectiles at his enemies. He also retains all copied powers he has. He can still shoot a large laser, but in this form he shoots it from his mouth.

Metal Sonic has appeared in a number of games and other SEGA related places. Metal Sonic is officially the second antagonist in the Sonic series. He's also been called one of the most popular robots in video-games. Metal Sonic has appeared countless times in the Sonic comics, again as both a servant of Dr.Robotnik and as a villian. He also appeared in the Olympics alongside other Sonic characters and Mario Bros characters multiple times. Metal Sonic is also a playable character in Sonic and All-Star Racing transformed, usually in the DLC. He has also been featured in the Sonic Boom cartoon, possessed by Lyric. In short, Metal Sonic is one of the most popular characters in the Sonic franchise and has neen featured in many spin-off games and other related media.
