Joshua
Name: Yoshiya "Joshua" Kiryu
Franchise: The world ends with you(TWEWY for short.😉)
Gender: Male
Species: He's mostly seen in human form, so the best I can do is tell you he's some kind of angel.
Before I start writing about Joshua(picture above) here, I am so excited to tell you that The world ends with you, released in 2008 for the DS, is legit getting a Nintendo Switch release!!! I couldn't believe it! That's why I'm going ahead with Joshua as a celebration of-sorts. I'm even playing the DS game while I'm typing this. It makes so happy to talk about one of my favorite characters from one of my favorite games. (Second only to Pit from Kid Icarus Uprising 😆.)
Oh Joshua, you prissy, nerd jerk you, you've got to be overjoyed from this news, even for a prissy kid like you. Joshua has got to be not only Square-Enix's most powerful character, but can easily take on the likes of Asriel Dreemurr from Undertale. Even Sans can't compare to Joshua's power or personality. Joshua is the Composer of Shibuya's Reaper's game, making him the most powerful being in the game (Reaper's game and video-game.) He can manipulate people quite easily, even without using pychic powers, and quickly turn the tables on his foes and friends alike. Though in gameplay Joshua seems to control some of his powers via his flip phone, it can be seen in one of the cutscenes of TWEWY that Joshua does not need his flip phone to, at least, activate his powers. Not to mention we never see his phone in Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, though he did stay out of fighting the dream eaters, the "heartless" of the Sleeping worlds, most of the time.
The full extent of Joshua's powers is unknown. In one of the secret reports of TWEWY, it mentions that the Composer, Joshua, has limited powers when in human form, and we see Joshua in this form most of the time we see him. The powers he does have while in human form are enough to erase the likes of Sans. Joshua is capable of telekinesis, the ability to move objects with his mind. Joshua's phone has powers too, probably because of the Producer of the Reaper's game, Mr.Hanakoma. His phone acts as a sort-of baton in gameplay. It can freeze enemies that are behind Joshua by simply taking a selfie with them. (😂)
Probably one of Joshua's most powerful attacks, while in human form, is to summon multiple beams of light from the sky and bring them upon his foes. He can also levitate himself, as seen in TWEWY, but he also has access to angel wings, as seen in Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance after clearing Traverse Town the first time we visit. He can hold on to the memories of others, even erase them if he wanted to. When he's joined by Neku in a fusion attack, the power of the attack is determined by how much energy is gathered by Joshua. The Lv.1 fusion attack allows Joshua and Neku to rain down objects like signs, bikes, even cars, onto the Noise. Lv.2 allowed Neku to rain fire on the Noise, while Joshua made it rain ice. Lv.3 allowed Joshua and Neku to bring down the very moon upon the Noise.
He also has the power to teleport from not only place to place, but also from world to world, even dimensions. He can also move other people to and from the world he's in, as seen in Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance. He can also fuse with others, especially those with a noise form, as seen in TWEWY. Remember, this is what he is capable of while in human form. When Joshua is in his True form... Running away won't save you. When he is in his True form, he has access to all of his previously mentioned powers, not to mention he can erase not only people, but also entire cities, including his own Shibuya. He also has the power to revive people and recreate places as he chooses.
As mentioned earlier, Joshua can teleport to different dimensions, as he does in the bonus chapter, Another Day, in TWEWY. In the Another Day universe, the characters, Joshua included, have somewhat changed. The Reaper's game isn't the main game being played; it's Tin Pin, a game where players shoot pins at each other on a board or table, kinda like marbles meets Beyblade, or something. The Reaper's game might not even be a thing in Another Day for all we know.
The Joshua in Another Day is...quirky...and somehow even more prissy than TWEWY Joshua. This version of Joshua is, in my opinion, the main cause of fans thinking the Joshua from the TWEWY universe is gay. Another Day Joshua always sticks with Another Day Neku ever since they were formally met. When "Shooter" asks Shiki if she's ok with the nickname Pink, Joshua immediately says,"Oh no, I call pink. Pink is the color of love, and a humanitarian like me just loves people." Later in the Another Day chapter, when Neku and co. are presented with new Tin Pin Kaiser pins, Joshua immediately says,"Dibs on the rainbow!", which results in Shooter saying," Ok, Pink is officially now Rainbow!" I would go on, but there's so much to go over. Just watch the YouTuber Nicob play the TWEWY game, or at least the Another Day chapter, it's hilarious, trust me😉.
