Destroyah
Name: Destroyah(Destroyer in Japan)
Franchise: Godzilla
Gender: technically unspecified, but often seen as male
Species: Mutated Micro-organism
Who is the largest of Kaijus in the Godzilla franchise? The most destructive? The least vulnerable? Any amateur would say Godzilla, but that isn't the case. Though the Kaiju Biolatte is officially the largest, she is passive towards humans due to her human spirit. No, one Kaiju in particular conquers all with seemingly little effort. Second only to fellow mutant Biolatte in size, and second only to Godzilla in strength. All fear the name of the mighty Destroyah!
Destroyah, or Destroyer in Japan, is a mutant monster in looks and nature. His bulk can crush nearly any obstacles in his path. Led by instinct and rage, rests only to recover from energy loss, hungers for the blood of monsters, and his only weakness is the freezing cold. How ironic that this massive beast was once many individual micro-organisms.
The micro-organism that makes up Destroyah is one of the oldest organisms in existence, older than the dinosaurs and from a time before oxygen covered the Earth. This micro-organism survives without oxygen, wandering aimlessly with little purpose. Destroyah's origins from micro to monstro sized is often traced back to the first Godzilla movie, Godjira, when the weapon called the Oxygen Destroyer was used to kill the original Godzilla, while unintentionally screwing up the biology of previously mentioned micro-organism. Though it didn't seem noticeable until, after many decades later in the 1980s, when the micro-organisms were exposed to radiation. Not only could they now eat through glass, but were very slowly growing and developing a taste for blood. They developed a way of electrifying their prey as they ate the flesh, leaving only the bare skeleton as evidence of the deed. Soon their growth greatly increased, however, to the point where these creatures became human-sized and quite crab-like in appearance, though these mutations have gained new power. Not only can they better climb and crawl, but they could now emit an energy breath that disintegrates all it contacts.
Though the army was able to restrict the multiple mutations, it didn't last long. The human had found these creatures were weak to fire, so they prepared an assault, should these creatures attack. At first it seemed to work, till the mutations came together and formed one gaint mutation in the shape of themselves, and proved to be quite stronger then before. It even revealed it's ability to transform into its flying form. The humans decided that since a over-radiated Godzilla and his son were going to destroy everything if something isn't done and they have this crazy mutation on the loose, they basically let the monsters fight and whoever wins the humans kill. Godzilla jr. was nearly killed by Destroyah, mostly because the energy Destroyah released was somehow reminiscent of the Oxygen Destroyer, but Godzilla jr. was able to defeat him despite this power. Or not. Sometime after Godzilla himself came to see his son, Destroyah's body was mutated even further by the electrical plant Godzilla jr. threw him into, causing Destroyah to become even more powerful as he entered his final form(picture above).
He gained intense new found power far beyond what his micro-organism species could ever have accessed before. His weakness to fire was gone, whilest Destroyah gained the ability to absorb energy from monsters via his tail, plus the ability to walk on two legs and fly freely without changing forms first, as well as the ridiculous ability to, in a nutshell, use his horn as a built-in lightsaber. He still kept his energy beam ability which he is not afraid to use. It's often his first offensive attack against his foes and environment. According to his concept artwork, Destroyah is also able to launch a Oxygen Destroyer Beam form his chest cavity, though it has yet to be used officially by Destroyah in the movie or novels. He continued to attack and killed Godzilla jr. Godzilla then became outraged as he targeted Destroyah. Godzilla, however, was already close to having a meltdown from too much radiation, a meltdown powerful enough to basically melt the whole Earth. The humans had already setup freezing weapons so as to prevent the meltdown, so when Destroyah tried to fly away, the humans shot his wings and sent him down towards Earth. Before he could hit the ground, Godzilla used his atomic breath on Destroyah, delivering the final blow. That was the last of Destroyah in the movies, though he still appears in the graphic novels about Godzilla as one of the most powerful kaijus, next to Godzilla of course. He was even capable of nearly killing Biolatte who was another mutation, and was the last hope for Earth to florish with plant life again. As far as I'm aware of though, Destroyah's strength has yet to be officially compared to the likes of fellow mutant SpaceGodzilla, a crystal and more pychic variation of Godzilla.
*If you ask me, SpaceGodzilla would obviously win, but how a fight between Destroyah and SpaceGodzilla would end has actually been quite a topic for Godzilla fans.*
As with many of the other Godzilla monsters, Destroyah has multiple figurines and assorted toys, as he has become one of the most popular of the franchise alongside Godzilla himself, Mothra, Millennium Gigan, Mechagodzilla, and others. Destroyah has appeared outside the movies and graphic novels and toys, mostly in the form of a playable character in video-games themed in Godzilla fashion, mainly in Godzilla: Save the Earth, Godzilla: Unleashed, and others. His powers remain mostly unchanged in the games, though his power of absorbing other monsters' energy has yet to appear. Destroyah is obviously classified as a mutant kaiju alongside Biolatte, SpaceGodzilla, Megagarus, to name a few.
