Dark Pit(picture above) is the dark clad doppelganger of Pit. Created by the Mirror of Truth as Pandora's idea of Pit's demise, Dark Pit turned on her and immediately went against both Pit and the Underworld Army. However, during the time that Pit was trapped in a ring, which was three years, Dark Pit, quote, "wasn't himself." He had been under the impression that he was the original and not Pit, but he realized that him and Pit were like two sides of the same coin. Since then, him and Pit have had a ally/rival based "friendship."

When Pandora was first defeated, Dark Pit used her magic to gain the ability to fly indefinitely. After Pit risked his life to save Dark Pit from the Chaos Kin, he searched for the Rewind Springs, a place in the Underworld that can turn back time. When Dark Pit came to the spring, the magic of Pandora left him and used the spring to bring Pandora back. After defeating Pandora again, Dark Pit used the spring to bring Pit's wings back to normal. He soon found out, however, that he couldn't fly anymore without Pandora's magic. He was put in Pit's flying problem.

He is a playable, unlockable character in Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3ds. His abilities are almost identical to Pit's, except for a slight change in charge attacks and a completely different Final Smash from Pit's. In his Final Smash, he uses the Dark Pit Staff (which is an actual weapon you can use in Kid Icarus Uprising) and blasts his opponents with a charged shot. The closer you are to Dark Pit when he shoots you, the more damaging it is.

In the Wii U version of Smash Bros., there is an exclusive feature to the Palentana Temple stage where, if your playing as Pit in this stage and hit the down taunt enough times, a conversation between Pit, Palentana, and Viridi about Pit's opponent will start. When Pit does this while Dark Pit is his opponent, Dark Pit will join in the conversation. It's revealed during this conversation that, after Hades was defeated, Dark Pit joined Viridi's Forces of Nature as her first officer. Apparently, their plans happen to overlap on one similar goal they share; to defeat Pit.

Dark Pit is known as Pittoo by Pit and Palentana. Palentana came up with this nickname as a way of calling Dark Pit "Pit #2." Pit two. Pittoo. Dark Pit gets aggravated and annoyed when anyone calls him this nickname, but ever since Palentana came up with it, Pit has been calling Dark Pit this nickname just about every time he sees him. Pit and Dark Pit also seem to have a "secret twin connection" where they will finish each other's battle cries. As much as this is a bit of a inside joke to Palentana and Viridi, it is possible for Pit and Dark Pit to have this pychic connection, as they are identical to each other physically. It has been a mystery around the world about twins possibly having this sort-of connection, even going through similar, if not the same, events in life.

Though he was not "born" like most people, he still has a personality of his own. I figured that, based on his personality, that on the Zodiac Dark Pit would be an Aries♈; Dark Pit is competitive and aggressive towards others, and he seems the fearless type, like any Aries would. He also can't stand the thought of listening to someone's orders unless he had a very good reason to.
