A purple dragon is said to be the master of the elements of fire, ice, earth, and lighting. A purple dragon is said to be born every 100 years. One day, in a magical world traveled by few outsiders, the Dark Master's army attacked the dragon sanctuary. Though only one egg escaped, the only other egg to survive the attack was taken to the Master, and the young dragon inside became dark and evil as she grew in tormenting agony. This dragon was Cynder(picture above), Spyro's female equivalent. Malefor, the Dark Master, made Cynder into a living monster and his general of his army. It wasn't till Spyro, along with Sparx, battled Cynder twice, once at her tower, and the other in the dimension in which the Dark Master was trapped. Though Spyro failed to stop the Dark Master from coming in the end, he saved Cynder and she became Spyro's partner. When Spyro used his magic to fix the world anew, him and Cynder disappeared and weren't seen again. Not in their home world anyway.

Somehow Spyro's magic took them to Skylands, a magical world fulled with endless islands, each with their own theme, natives, creatures, elements, and treasures and legends await to be discovered. But even the Skylands has its dark side, in the form of the Darkness, which itself came from another world outside Skylands. Spyro and Cynder were soon found by Eon, the last of the Portal Masters in Skylands. He saw their powers and the goodness in their hearts, and seeing that they couldn't return to their world anytime soon, Eon gave Spyro and Cynder the opportunity to be Skylanders, protectors of Skylands and heros all-around.

Since Skylanders Spyro's Adventure, Cynder has been one of the many skylanders for years now. The other skylanders were weary of her, due to her still having dark powers and her somewhat wicked personality. Though after many years with the skylanders through thick and thin, the others have grown fond of her. As for her figurine, it seems to suggest that Cynder can stand on her hind legs. Her series 2 version shows her on all fours with somewhat more vibrant colors, unless you got the series 2 glow-in-the-dark version. Cynder also has a series 3 version called Phantom Cynder, which is slightly transparent and shows a lighting bolt on both her wings. There's also supposed to be a completely shiny violet version of Cynder with solid white eyes, which is a rare skylanders figure which is said to be reminiscent to the original version of Cynder from Spyro: A New Beginning and appears as a Mega Blocks figurine. In one of the online skylander games, there was a Halloween exclusive version of Cynder called Skeletal Cynder.

Cynder is an undead elemental Skylander due to her wicked powers over the undead. She's capable of shooting Spectral Lightning from her mouth. She can also transform into a shadow briefly and dash right past her enemies, leaving ghosts in her wake. These powers, like any Skylanders', can be upgraded further to unleash controlled devastation upon Cynder's foes. She can also summon a Ghostly Ally as seen after purchasing her Soul Gem ability. This is actually thanks to the undead symbol on Cynder's forehead(And you thought it was for decoration, didn't you?). Her Wow Pow ability shows that Cynder has control over lightning in general, not just what comes out of her mouth, as she can rain lightning bolts from the sky during flight. It was mentioned by the people behind Spyro: A New Beginning and the games that followed it that Cynder was originally thought to be an Air elemental dragon before becoming one of the Dark Master's henchmen, which could explain her powers over lightning.

Cynder was given a speaking role in Skylanders Imaginators much like Spyro, Stealth Elf, Gill Grunt, and many other popular Skylanders. However, she was only seen speaking in the exclusive adventure pack that only unlocks with Sensei Wild Storm. Cynder can also be seen standing among the other dragon NPCs of the Dragon Temple at the end of the level, though she did not speak nor was she seen anywhere else in the level. Cynder was also given a role in the Netflix adaptation of Skylanders Academy, where she was Malefor's daughter as well as a fan of Spyro.
