Beast Boy

Name: Garfield "Beast Boy" Logan (He actually has alot of nicknames, I'll explain later)
Franchise: Teen Titans/DC comics
Gender: Male
Species: human

Ah Beast Boy, the adorable prankster and party animal of DC comics. He has been called the heart and soul of the Titans, being one of the original members since the Teen Titans started back in the '60s. Beast Boy is a shape-shifter, turning into a number of animals at his will. From flies to cats to gorillas to eagles to the very dinosaurs that once roamed the earth. He also has a fair knowledge in physical combat, though you can imagine he prefers his animal instinct in a fight. It's rather easy to tell him apart from just about anybody with his green skin, hair, and eyes, plus his charming personality.

Beast Boy's real name is Garfield M. Logan, though whenever the other titans refer to him by his real name they call him "Gar" for short. When referred to by his hero name Beast Boy, the others call him BB for short. In the comic books he once called himself Changeling for a spell, though he decided to change it back to Beast Boy, which was originally a codename the Doom Patrol gave him when he joined them.

Feeling down? Listen to BB's backstory. When he was a child, his parents, both scientists, were working on DNA in hopes of being able to manipulate it to bring back extinct animals, such as the dinosaurs. They were actually somewhat abusive towards BB during this time, making him secretive and a loner. One day he caught a rare tropical disease, one of which had no known cure, and only one creature on earth was immune to it; a green monkey(I kid you not). In hopes of saving his son, Beast Boy's father gave him an untested serum to change BB into the green monkey for 24 hours, so that the disease would past. After 24 hours, Beast Boy's father gave him the serum again to turn him back into a human, only for BB to come back with more then a green thumb. After some time Gar found he could change into animals, though it was only the smaller creatures like birds and mice at first. It was around that time that his parents went over a waterfall, their notes on a possible cure for BB's current state with them, and died. Blaming himself for not being able to save his parents, Beast Boy hid in the rainforest...

Till a bunch of criminals captured him and forced him to use his powers for their robberies. When they were arrested, a lawer took up Beast Boy's defense and won. He even adopted Beast Boy. Sometime after this, however, Beast Boy's adopted mother was murdered, his adopted father immediately searching for the killer. He didn't talk to Beast Boy much after that, even being abusive towards him, which got BB mad at him. When he got involved in one of the Doom Patrol's missions and they saw how BB's adopted father was actually abusive towards him, the founders Mento and Elasti-girl adopted him instead. The gave Gar the codename Beast Boy for his shape-shifting abilities, and in honor of their previous shape-shifter who was also named Beast Boy before he died a heroic death.

Eventually though Beast Boy decided to leave the Doom Patrol. In the animated series, he was kicked out of the Doom Patrol by Mento due to him not obeying orders, even after saving the whole Doom Patrol's life. He eventually met Robin, Kid Flash, and Wonder Girl and joined them as a member of the newly formed Teen Titans. In the animated series, he met Robin during a fight with Starfire, eventually getting involved with the battle against the Citadel and became a member of the Teen Titans afterward.

The Teen Titans Go version is only slightly different really. According to Teen Titans Go, Beast Boy gained his shape-shifting abilities when he was bit by a green monkey. His parents died in a flood, and Beast Boy eventually joins the Doom Patrol, only for him to leave. At one point there was a copy of Beast Boy made, which called itself Changeling, in reference to when Beast Boy in the comic books once called himself Changeling. After leaving the Doom Patrol, he met Robin and joined him and the other titans.

Beast Boy is actually a force to be reckoned with. When it comes to his shape-shifting abilities, he can change into any new animal by merely seeing it or a picture of it. Afterwards he can change into that animal at will. In the comic books he once had to change into a green alien creature native to the planet. It was difficult for him at first, since "earth animals he knew instinctively," but he succeeded in the transformation none of the less. The only reason we don't see BB change into another human, which his powers should allow, is because since his green skin is still apparent no matter what animal he changes to, it would be pretty much pointless to change into another human.

Remember Slade from the animated series? Also known as Deathstroke in the comic books? His healing capabilities were astronomical. The only two beings on earth with that could compare to his amazing healing ability was the Creeper, one of Batman's select heros he chose after he left the Justice League, and none other than our own Beast Boy, whose healing is so amazing that in some storylines he could regrow entire limbs. His body can heal from bullet wounds within seconds. Beast Boy's powers also allow increased strength like a gorilla, increased speed like a cheetah, and increased durability like a turtle. It's also been seen that he can change into multiple animals at one time, such as when he changed into a hoard of bees. Beast Boy also has unexplored pychic powers in the comic books. When the villian Psimon attacked the Titans with a pychic helmet, Beast Boy took it and used it to defeat him. As it was later found out, the helmet doesn't give the wearer pychic powers, it only enhances already existing pychic potential within the wearer.

Beast Boy's powers has been affected by demon energy throughout the Teen Titans franchise. Whenever he is in contact with demon energy such as that of Raven or her father Trigon, he can turn into more demonic like creatures. Trigon once used Beast Boy along with Raven as a way to revive himself, causing both Raven and Beast Boy to turn demonic in nature and looks. In the comic books Beast Boy still has the influence of that insident to this day, though he hasn't turned against the other titans due to it. In the Justice League vs Teen Titans animated film, the Titans, plus Cyborg who was with the Justice League at the time, had to go to Trigon's realm to trap him in the crystal again to stop him, and immediately upon coming into this realm, Beast Boy stated he didn't feel well. Few minutes later right when a hoard of demons showed up, Beast Boy's DNA went completely haywire. He eventually gained back control and was able to change into otherworldly creatures, such as a werewolf like creature, resembling the one he changed into in the animated series, and even changed into a griffin, plus some alien like creature.

Beast Boy is known for his joking and prankster like personality by Titans and fans alike, though he's like this only because it's his only way of forgetting how depressed he is about his parents and past. Who can blame him after what all has happened to him? His parents dying, his adopted mom getting murdered, and even Terra, his crush in the animated series, sacrificing herself for the Titans, then there was that time him and Raven had to break up due to the other Titans separating in the comic books. That can weigh down on a guy. At least the Teen Titans Go version of Beast Boy doesn't make it so obvious, given he's an idiot. Plus he might have short term memory loss. Or maybe it's long term memory loss? I mean he couldn't even remember how to open a book or how to even eat in the cartoon, and he's a vegetarian.

Beast Boy is the popular and (most of the time) canon love interest to Raven, a fellow Teen Titan. They started their relationship in the comic books, though after the Titans separated Raven felt her and BB had to break up as well. When the Titans reformed and Raven eventually joined, she stated that she no longer had feels for BB, though secretly she did. It was later found out that BB still had feelings for Raven, though that didn't convince her to get back with him. She was fearful of what her demon heritage might do to the one she loved. After Trigon was destroyed and Raven suddenly able to feel emotions freely, her and BB had a discussion about such matters, which quickly turned into a matter of them getting back together, with Beast Boy ending the talk with "You've been thinking too hard about the bad... so let's start focusing on the good-" or something close to that, which of course was followed by a heartfelt and passionate kiss between the two. The both of them were in a relationship till the Flashpoint occurred, which reset pretty much everything, including their relationship(because comic books keep changing too much for even one relationship to stay the way it should be. One moment Superman's with Louis Lane, next he's with WonderWoman. Then this boohock).

In the animated series, it is only referenced that Raven and BB had a crush on each other and the prospect of the love between them is never explored. In Teen Titans Go, Beast Boy and Raven became a couple(since it'll take forever to explain it entirely I won't talk about it. I covered in my earlier chapter on Raven if your interested).
