*CHOOSING DAY*

I hear Marcus yell tons of names I don't know, and then one I recognize.

"Uriah Pedrad," he yells. I feel Uriah squeeze my hand, and then walk up to the bowls. I see him accept the knife from Marcus. I watch as he drags it across his hand not even flinching. He holds his hand over the Dauntless Bowl and lets his blood sizzle on the coals. I smile because in this faction I will be joining him. When he comes back over, his hand automatically connects with mine. I smile does he like me or something. I start to zone everyone out, and then after a while, Marcus shouts my name.

"Skylar Evans," he shouts. I squeeze Uriah's hand and walk up to the circle of bowls. I accept the knife from Marcus, and drag the blade across my hand, and then I let my blood sizzle onto the coals in the dauntless bowl.  I walk back to the dauntless section, and I watch as Uriah does something different interlaces our fingers. I am confused at first but then relax. I know why he is doing that, he likes having me around. I also like having him around.  The choosing ceremony ends, and all the dauntless initiates and members run to the doors. I am in the lead. I run out and get up onto the train tracks, and jump when the train comes. I get on, and everyone follows me. Uriah sits down right next to me. Lynn on my other side. Marlene, nowhere even close to me. Lauren in front of me. Shauna is also next to Lynn. Zeke right next to Uriah. 

"Look Marlene is terrified to come near me," I say in a whisper making everyone laugh.

"I think she might be scared to come near Uriah, Lynn, Lauren, Shauna, you, and I. Everyone but you told her that if the ever comes near you again we will burn her alive," Zeke tells me.

"You guys are the best friends ever," I tell all of them. They smile, and one at a time hug me. 

"Four hurt you, also we told him that if he ever comes near you again we will burn him alive too," Uriah says.

"I seriously love you guys so much," I tell all of them. 

"We love you too, and will do anything to protect you," Uriah says, and then blushes. 

"Ohhhh does Uribear have a crush on someone? And guys ignore the nickname," I tell them, as I get som weird looks.

"Can do," Zeke says.

"Easy," Lauren says.

"No problem," Shauna tells me.

"Okay," Lynn says in between giggles.

"Uhhhh maybe maybe not," Uriah tells me. I laugh.

"You won't be able to hide it, remember I got Candor. Your tell is that you rub the back of your neck so you are not telling the entire truth or no truth at all," I say. He glares.

"You are going to make me answer aren't you," he asks?

"Yep, so does you have a crush on someone," I question?

"Yes," he says looking away blushing. 

"Who," Shauna questions?

"Skylar," Uriah mumbles barely audible, but I can still hear him. 

"Awwww that is so adorable," I squeal. He does not realise that I heard him. He jumps.

"Did you hear what I said," he asks sounding very scared.

"Yes, I did,"I say and then I kiss his cheek.  All of the others, that are my friends squeal. Of course, they do Skylar you just kissed your life long crush.  I smile and see that Uriah is blushing. He is so cute when he is blushing, but I have not told anyone that. Not even his own brother Zeke. Then Tobias/Four enters the train car, and I glare at him.

"Hi, what do you want," I ask my voice venomous.

"To have you hear me out," he replies. Zeke walks forward with a pocket knife drawn.

"Didn't we tell you the consequences if you ever try to come near her, and or talk to her again," he says. His voice sounds light, but it is sharp as knives. 

"You did, but this is a matter in between the two of us. Last time I checked she did not ask for your help," Tobias replies.

"I actually don't mind Zeke helping me get rid of you. GO DIE FOR ALL I CARE," I tell him.

"You heard the girl, scram," Zeke tells him. I watch as Tobias comes towards me.

"Zeke, you can do whatever you please to the fucking asshole," I tell him. Zeke charges Tobias, and Lauren, Shauna, Lynn, and Uriah get up to help.

"STOP HURTING HIM," Marlene yells.

"Why should we when he hurt our best friend," Shauna asks?

"Because he has moved on from her," Marlene says.

"No, he hasn't. Did you not hear him say that he wanted me to hear him out," I ask her?

"NO, I heard him say that he loved someone else," she says.

"You idiot. He said he wanted me to hear out what he has to say. Zeke let him up, I'll listen. CHRISTINA CAN YOU COME HERE, THOUGH," I shout. My friend Christina comes in.

"What is it," she asks.

"I need you to be a walking talking lie detector," I tell her.

"Okay," she replies.

"Okay, Four what is your story,"I question? He jumps into his story. I notice that he is fidgeting with his hands in his lap. When he finally finish's his story I turn to Christina.

"Christina," I question?

"He is lying, in Candor you learn to read body language. Also, people have tells, and his is fidgeting with his hands in his lap. So Four stop lying to my Friend," she says. I smile and turn to the others.

"Okay, you can kill him," I tell them. They all immediately start beating him up again. I smile, and then I feel someone's hand in mine. I look to my right and I see Uriah. 

"Why aren't you helping kill Four," I ask. He smiles.

"Why would I do that when his so called best friends are doing a perfect job of it," Uriah asks me?

I smile, and he hugs me. 

"Uriah you need to get ready to jump," I say.

"Way ahead of you Ria," he says. He grabs hold of my hand and yells to the others to stop beating Four up. They stop and then all of a sudden we are jumping from a MOVING train. Man I love that feeling, all the other initiates are groaning or something. I just am sitting on the gravel laughing. Max spots me, wearing my hair down, a black shirt, and with torn up jeans on, sitting on the ground laughing. 

"Skylar are you okay," he yells.

"I...Am...Fine...," I yell back in between laughs. 

"Okay," he yells. Clearly skeptical that I am not okay at all. We all gather around the entrance.

"So if you want to enter Dauntless, this is the way in. If you don't have the nerve to jump then you don't belong in Dauntless. Someone has got to go first so who will it be," he questions. Uriah raises his hand.

"Max can initiate jump together," he asks?

"Yes," Max responds. I know what Uriah is planning.

"Uriah and I will," I speak up.

"Okay," Max says and steps aside. I lead Uri up to the ledge and step on it. Uriah steps on next to me. I interlace our fingers and pull him over the ledge. He starts screaming. I am laughing, and when we get to the bottom, and land in the net I smile when Uriah has tears clinging to his face. Zeke comes over and helps me down, and then I help Uriah down. I am still laughing and he still looks terrified. I hug him and smile. I know that my life will be better here, and I am so happy. I notice that I am the first jumper along with Uri. I smile, and when I hear a scream I laugh. I look to see who that was, and it is Lynn. I laugh. Another scream, and it is Marlene. Once all the initiates are down. Zeke and Lauren come over.

"Okay," Zeke says, and then I realize that no one is listening.

"HEY ALL OF YOU PANSYCAKES SHUT UP," I yell, earning me some laughs from m friends. 

"Good use of that word," Zeke says.

"Thank you, Zeke," I say.

"NO problem," he says. I smile, and Uriah puts his arm around my waist to steady myself.

"Hey Zeke, how was beating up Four," I ask.

"Really fun," he replies, that earns him a laugh. I smile, and when no one quieted down I pi=ull out my gun.

"HEY ALL OF YOU PANSYCAKES, STOP TALKING OR I SHOOT," I yell, and they all stop talking. The Dauntless-Born initiate's know that I am dead serious. They are helping some of the other initiates quiet down, they know that it is not good to have an angry Skylar. Uriah smiles, and I feel his arms wrap around me.

"Thank you for getting all of the Pansycakes to shut up," he says.

"No problem," I tell him.
