13 | Promises

August 26th, 2023| Saturday

Paris had been allowing Josiah to cloud his mind ever since the moment he walked out of her room, promising to give her time to decide what she wanted to do. He wouldn't say that what he did was give her an ultimatum, but that's basically what he did.

He'd realized the way he went about it was manipulative in a way, like always, but he felt like it was because the way she worded and tackled the point she was trying to get across about Micah. It was what he had to do. In hindsight he wasn't trying to, but he just wanted to leave before he got his feelings hurt.

He had limited texting her, leaving her to reach out first for the past week and he was trying hard to put his mind to something else. "How the fuck I got real feelings for somebody wit' a nigga?" Paris uttered out loud to himself, honestly confusing himself.

He realized saying it out loud made him feel even more stupid than just keeping it to himself. "Watchu talm' bout?" His eyes momentarily widened once he quickly remembered that his cousin was still present and in the room. Turning his head towards Jordan, he shook his head in an attempt to brush it off.

Jordan squinted his eyes, his cousin should've known he wasn't going to drop what he had just heard. "Nigga nah, what you had said." He inquired trying to dig deeper into what had his cousin walking around like a sad puppy for the last week. It was concerning because he had never witnessed anything like it before.

Paris looked up, his face mugged as he glared at his cousin. "Mind yo business nigga, that's what I just said ainnit?" He retorted, causing his cousin to smirk, amused by his apparent attitude. It did nothing to bother him, and pushed him to pester him more.

"So what bitch got you in yo feelings? You must be fuckin' wit Ari ass again." Jordan assumed, referring to his ex.

"Bitch?" Paris reiterated, wondering who in the world he was calling a bitch.

Jordan raised his eyebrows at his cousin's version of correcting him for calling the mystery girl out of her respected name. "Nigga?" Jordan sarcastically retorted, bucking his eyes at him, triggering Paris to smack his teeth.

Squinting his eyes, he looked at Jordan in disdain. "You always on some gay shit dude, trynna be funny and shit." His undertone had agitation in it, but of course that didn't bother Jordan because he loved bothering his cousin regardless of any situation. He saw it as him lightening the mood.

Huffing Jordan placed his hands on the cold countertop trying to gain Paris's eyesight. "Is it your ex or not nigga, damn. Looking like you lost your best friend." Jordan continued to pry. Paris looked confused because his facial expressions as of late didn't hold that impression at all. "I know you too well nigga." It was like he could read his thoughts.

"It ain't nothing bro, damn you always in everybody business but yours. What's da move for tonight?" He tried to avert the conversation because he wasn't in the mood.

"Shit, nothing til you tell me what's wrong." Jordan crossed his arms standing firm on his decision.

"Aight bruh you just be—" Paris and his statement got disrupted by a knock on their door, both of them averting their attention towards it in sync. "I'a get it." He would really do anything to get away from Jordan at the moment.

Starting towards the door, it was already unlocked so he twisted the knob and pulled it open instantly regretting it. "Fuck you doin' at my crib, bruh." He didn't even attempt to hide his distaste for the fact that Delilah was at his front door looking as if everything were okay.

She even had a backpack hanging from her left shoulder, as if she were about to stay the night. "Dice, don't even do that, we been at odds for long enough now." She tried to play it off, hoping she was able to talk him out of his attitude. "Like come on, we still friends at the end of the day." She pushed past him into the house.

That move alone right there let him know how comfortable she was starting to get, and he realized he gave her too much freedom out of respect. Now she wasn't taking him seriously when he was trying to distance himself, and that would annoy him badly.

"Oh shit it's a sleepover innis bitch? Let me go call Tre den." Jordan hopped from his seat noticing Lilah had brought a backpack which he was sure of items to spend a night. He always made it his mission to get on the girls' nerves.

Lilah frowned. "What the fuck are you talking about Jordan, go on somewhere and mind your business, You always do that budding in shit!" She snapped on him, feeling enraged at the fact that he was cracking jokes when she was trying to reconcile with Paris.

He looked at her as if she had grown two heads, then proceeded to look around to see if someone else was near him. "Is this a fucking prank? Dummy, this my apartment just as much as it's his. Ill kick yo ass out right now, on my dead granny." He spat towards her, shocking Delilah while Paris struggled to keep his composure and his laughs at bay.

Deciding to somehow be the mediator, he stepped between the two of them. "Lilah you need to chill the fuck out, real shit. He always playing around, why are you doin that?" He quizzed looking at her strangely. Her eyes dropped to the floor, knowing she in a way did too much.

"Can we just talk?" Lilah looked towards his room door, pleading silently with her eyes praying that he would agree and give her the benefit of the doubt. "Please, Dice. Seriously." She wasn't giving up, because the last time they had a heated argument he read her to filth.

"Let's go man." He nodded his head towards the room.

She happily hurried towards the room with him close behind her. Once they both had fully gotten inside, she dropped her bag while he closed the door. "Look, now that I've had time to look back and reflect on our small disagreement, I can see how I was wrong for the way I acted." She admitted.

He only stood aside letting her proceed on her own. "It was so rude, and Kiari didn't deserve that." She was laying it on thick knowing deep down she didn't feel like he should've been caring about Kiari considering who she was to him. She didn't deserve that level of loyalty from him anymore.

Though, she was failing to realize it wasn't loyalty and more of the principle and his morals as a person. He felt no need to rub it in her face when she hadn't done anything wrong, to his knowledge. "Okay. I forgive you, you can leave." Paris calmly blinked, looking towards her with a straight face.

"Nooo, Dice don't make me leave. I want to spend the night, you aren't even doing anything." She came closer to him pulling her hand up to his chest in order to signal an initiation for something more physical to occur between them rather than her apologizing because she didn't like to apologize.

He just stood there, allowing her to caress his chest. She reached down beginning to try to undo his pants, slowly crouching down until she was all the way on her knees. He was looking down at her while she reached in his boxers, fishing his dick out.

She eyed it lustfully like she did any other time before getting ready to do what she did best.

He licked his lips, before bringing his hands to her bundles, carefully pulling it back, ensuring he wasn't too rough. Holding her hair back into a ponytail, he observed as she let spit drip from between her lips onto his dick and began massaging it in slowly, kissing the tip.

She started sucking on the tip sensually, making him feel a lot better as she acted as a stress reliever for him.

His phone lit up on his dresser, and he took a quick glance knowing he wasn't going to answer at the moment. He was too busy.

He quickly did a double take at the contact name, and snatched his phone up like he was going to lose it, answering the call. "Hello? You good?" He backed away from Lilah, starting to put his dick away.

Lilah frowned because that was a first. He had never done something like that to her before. She always had all of his attention when she was pleasuring him, that was one of his forms of respect and she'd somehow just lost it.

"Why are you mad at me?" Josiah's voice beamed from the other side of the phone as he held his phone between his ear and shoulder getting decent.

Furrowing his eyebrows, Paris had no idea what she was talking about. "Im not mad at you, what you talkin' bout?" He was confused because he hadn't realized that his behavior towards her may have came off like he was angry with her when he in fact was not.

He heard her huff dramatically. "That's not what it seems like to me. You walked out of my room that one day, and haven't tried to reach out to me since, what the fuck?" She honestly felt like she was losing her mind.

"I was giving you space..." He trailed off, ignoring Lilahs existence while he gave Josiah all of his attention. The girl was oblivious that he was about to receive head just as she called, and a nagging feeling in the back of his mind was telling him he was wrong.

"Who said I wanted space, we were good, Paris." The way she said his name made a sense of peace spread through his body. It felt like forever since the last time he had heard it from her. The whole ordeal was sticky, and giving him a major headache.

"We wasn't, I'm not the only one so I wouldn't call that straight."

Lilah didn't know what was being said on the phone but just by the softness in his tone, she knew whoever he was talking to was a female. He stopped her from giving head for another female and she was shocked. "Am I the only one you mess with though?" Josiah held her breath, even though she asked to prove a point she couldn't bear him saying he was.

"Nah you not, but if you asked me to, I would cut ha ass off without a second thought." He found himself expressing, cutting his eyes at Lilah who was standing there in literal shock. Paris had never disrespected her like this and she couldn't tell if it was a prank or not.

Josiah nibbled on the inside of her lip. "I'll leave him, Paris." She sounded confident, but he just didn't feel like there was something right about it. He knew they had been together for a year, so why was it so easy to do that over someone she knew for a month and a half?

"It ain't ever dat easy. I never told you to break up with him." Paris stated, shocking Lilah even more.

"But you just...Is this some type of manipulation tactic because you're making my head hurt." She sounded confused, which was reasonable at the moment because she had no idea what was going on or what he was trying to say.

Lilah leaned back into the wall she was next to while he slowly took a seat on the edge of his bed. She was stupid. "I want you to do it, because you want to. Ion want no resentment when it come down to me and you 'cause you felt like you had to on my behalf...I fuck wit you heavy." Paris told her, "But you gotta help me stand on why you worth me going against my brother wishes , man." He finally expressed what was bothering him.

He needed to know she was all in, because their relationship could surely put him in a tough spot. If it was all for nothing, he would feel like a traitor and a dummy.

Josiah sighed, and nodded though he couldn't see her. "I hear you." Was all she said before the three beeps indicated she had hung up on him.

He pulled the phone away from his ear feeling a sense of defeat. "Man, Dice you one of the most disrespectful niggas I ever seen in my life!" Delilah lashed out before he could even process his thoughts. She reached to collect a pillow in which she roughly whacked him with, using all her might.

"What—bitch did you just sit on the phone with in front of my fucking face!" She continued hitting him, while he used his arms as a barrier from the pillow. It didn't hurt but in his opinion she was doing too much. "I had your dick in my mouth!" She continued, dropping the pillow before she started delivering straight blows with her fists.

He didn't even say anything and just allowed her to continue hitting him, she had the upper hand since she was standing and he was sitting so the fact that he wouldn't hit a woman put him in a tough position. "Bro, chill the fuck out!" He strained, ensuring he covered his face.

"Fuck you Dice!" She screamed to the top of her lungs, and his room door flung open before she felt Jordan slinging her off of him.

Paris didn't feel bad, Josiah was more important than her and he would do it again. "Bro, you got me fucked up. Get the fuck out my shit and dont come back!" He finally yelled back, hopping to his feet quickly which startled both of them considering he was always calm and never raised his voice.

"You got me fucked up on my momma, Imma call my homegirls to jump yo dirty ass, bitch." All the respect he had for her hand been lost the moment she put her hands on him. He could see how he made her angry but she had lost her mind pouncing on him the way she just did.

"Cuzzo, calm down, it's aight..." Jordan had to be an adult and play the mediator before it got worse between them. "Lilah bro leave." He was trying to help her out but he could see the fire bouncing in her eyes. She was angry about what had just transpired.

Just like her though, he wasn't letting what just happened slide. "You gon' get what's coming to you I put that shit on my granny bruh, fuck out my shit Delilah." She knew he was heated due to the use of her government name. Pushing past them he left his room, going to the bathroom and slamming the door.

He was about to shower and cool off before he changed his mind and hurt her himself.

After showering for almost forty-five minutes, which just consisted of him standing under the cool water half of the time to calm his nerves down. He still couldn't get over what happened, and he could admit he deemed what he did was a little disrespectful, but it was Josiah so he didn't care.

Once he got dressed, he turned all the lights off and closed his blinds before crawling in his large bed. Getting under his covers he proceeded to lay on his back in the pitch black darkness of his room, not moving a single muscle or making a single peep.

When his door opened allowing the light from the hallway flash through his room, he was about to hop up on Jordan and take his pent up stress out on him. "Mmcht, aww, this nigga aint sleep." Tre's voice instantly made him aware, but not in time before Tre flopped on top of Paris, followed by Josiah surprising him even more.

"Fuck yall doin' here." Paris smiled, happy it was dark in his room because when Josiah hopped on top of him, his hand went straight to her ass. She didn't even flinch, instead embracing him with her brother while Jordan stayed in the door way, blocking most of the light.

"Jordan called and said we was having a sleepover." Tre joked, but on the other hand he was serious. He and Jojo decided to feed into it because it was a boring friday and they were bored with nothing else to do.

Jordan raised his eyebrows. "It was before everything though." Jordan had to clarify, because with the mood that Pais was in, he was not trying to be on the receiving end of one of his lashings. He hadn't even done anything, Lilah had really pissed him off.

"What do you mean, what happened." Josiah didn't even care to hide the fact she was prying. She wanted to know every single detail going on with Paris whether it was from him or another source. It didn't matter to her.

"Nothing." Paris stated evenly before Jordan got the chance to go blabbing about Lilah, he wasn't sure if Josiah would be able to put the pieces together, but he didn't even want her to know Lilah had been in his presence anyway. Therefore he needed to shut up all together.

Tre sighed and finally sat up sitting at the edge of the bed. "Why you in here laying in the dark, like you depressed or some shit." Tre quizzed, standing to his feet, pushing Josiah to scurry out of the hold Paris secretly had her in. Tre then flickered the lights on watching Paris scrunch his eyes.

Paris held in his laugh at the girl. She was so scary, but it was the cutest at times. He wished they could cuddle like they had done a week ago, he just wanted that type of feeling at the second, and he couldn't get it. "Aggravated, but im over it now." He practically lied.

He wanted Lilah beat, and badly.

Josiah didn't seem convinced and Paris even watched the wheels in her head turn, but when she came up with nothing she shrugged it off. He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding and finally began sitting up.

"Why would yall actually come,  we don't got shit to do here." Paris remarked, standing to his feet. He was dressed in sleep wear since he had taken a shower, but the sight alone cause Josiah to lick her lips, staring at him in lust.

Everyday it was getting harder to deny the attraction and feelings she had for him, in private she was like putty in his hands and he allowed her to be. She basically craved him, and let him know it.

It was them to the public eye that was the issue, what was holding her back the most.

At times like this, she wondered what Micah was doing at the moment. Hopefully something worse than fantasizing about someone who wasn't her so she wouldn't completely feel like a horrible cheating person. "We can find stuff to do, Paris, stop being a downer." Josiah scolded.

Tre raised an eyebrow. "Woahhhh, when we get on first name privileges?" He felt somehow left out of the loop because he knew how Dice was about his name. He hated for it to be easy to get information on him so he kept things like that close to him.

"Nigga, I told you, we basically got a lil book club. Who wanna call somebody Dice while we talkin bout books." He jumped in and saved Josiah. He knew sooner or later she would do it and they would question her about it.

Tre nodded since that was true. "You getting too close to my bestie lil bruh, back off." He spoke towards Paris referring to Josiah. She was definitely his best friend.

Josiah laughed, before standing to her feet. "Let's go build Lego houses." She suggested and they all looked at her strangely. "What? I knew you guys wouldn't have nothing to do. Yall never think anything through." She claimed, explaining why she decided to bring legos and who knew what else.

"Aye, she right." Jordan pointed in approval.

"I know I am, let's go!" She exclaimed like a small child while they all stared at her. They would have to get used to her quirkiness.

Hours later, Josiah had forced them to do all types of things. Legos, card games, would you rather, never have I ever, but everyone's favorite was the prank calling. The trio used to do it all the time in middle school so it was fun to come back and do it as adults with Josiah.

Once they finished Jordan forced all of them to make pallets on the floor which seemed to be more comfortable than they thought, and Josiah was shocked at the fact that Treyvon went out like a light.

"You like strippers?" Josiah whispered randomly as she sat across from Paris on the floor, breaking her sour punch in half and passing it to him. He gracefully took it, and stuffed it in his mouth leading her to do the same.

Shaking his head, he shocked her with his answers. "Some be pretty, but I can't even go in a strip club without gagging. It stink in there," he stressed. He'd honestly didn't see the hype but if people liked it then he loved it.

She playfully rolled her eyes. "You be calling everybody pretty huh."She called him out, not feeling special anymore because of the amount of times he reminded her. That seemed to be embedded in his vocabulary.

He smirked, connecting his eyes with hers as she passed another sour punch. "Nah baby, you gorgeous. Big difference." He licked his lips, ensuring he made her feel special the way she deserved to.

Smiling she looked away into the darkness. Jordan didn't think they knew but he had snuck off to sleep in his bed which was crazy because he'd suggested sleeping on the floor. "You just a sweet talker at this point. You must practice in the mirror." She accused.

Leaning closer he kissed the side of her mouth softly before pulling back. He didn't entertain her because she was just projecting onto him. "You gorgeous like I just said." He clarified.

"Who...gave you that scratch under your eye?" Her words were low. She had been eyeing the small welt close to his eye since they turned the light on, and it looked fresh.

"Me and Jordan was play fighting." He lied, unsure how believable that even sounded. They were grown men, but Jordan was a man-child so it wasn't far fetched.

Josiah stared at him a little longer. She hadn't known him long enough to be able to tell when he was lying even though he did it so much, so she dropped it. "I really care about you, Paris." Her voice was soft. "It's been a short time, but I obviously feel something for you and I don't want you to think that I don't because of the stuff I'm trying to sort out, okay?" It was her turn to reassure him.

"I'm not gon' stay in yo back pocket, Siah." He admitted, and she nodded.

She thought it was so crazy because that's exactly what she identified it as a week ago when he left her room, she wanted her in his pocket to keep him to herself. Him saying it out loud without knowing it was the exact same reference she used, touched her soul.

"And I don't want you to, okay?" She lied. Sheknew it would be hard to break it off with Micah, but if Paris was able to get her in some of the compromising positions that he did—there was no point of dragging her old relationship along.

She just hoped she was making the right decision and it wasn't off of lust, impulse, or some type of adrenaline thing that would ware off. "I promise." She whispered putting her pinky out.

He glanced at it before linking his and shaking their hands. Then he leaned in to peck her lips three consecutive times, pulling her into him comfortably shortly after.

He would listen to her, because honestly he would walk off the face off the earth following behind her. He trusted her, and that was all the push he needed for them.

Paris was sad until Lilah beat his ass

Tre such a real friend, they doing him wrong

Paris stuck on Josiah tho so oh well, yall think she gonna break it off with Micah?
