IM ALIVE!

Hey guys! I'm back with a sore throat and no inspiration to write whatsoever! So, I'm going to make a list of 8 musicals you guys need to listen to like, now. In no particular order except for the top 3, of course!

10. Wicked

"Wicked" Is one of the most well - known musicals of all time - and for good reason. It's positively magnificent. The singers have amazing voices, it's original, and it's got a great cast of characters and a great message. It totally deserves all of it's hype!

9. The Lion King

I was lucky enough to see The Lion King on Broadway, and I must say - it was amazing. It stayed true to the plot, it had some older humor I could laugh at, an amazing ethical cast, and some hugely impressive child actors. Again, truly something!

8. Matilda

I also saw this one, when it first came out, but unfortunately I was young and don't really remember it that well. But I do remember being in absolute awe of it - it was my first ever show, and it was an amazing experience I'll never forget. I laughed, I cried, I clapped, I gasped, it was a great show. Again, I was like, 7 or 8, but it was just amazing. This is off Broadway, but you can listen to the soundtrack!

7. Alladin

[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]

I've never seen this one, but I've seen a few bootlegs and the Tony performance and it was so good.  Aladdin was my favorite growing up, I loved the songs, the genie, Jasmine, Abu, the Rug, the Genie, and I lowkey memorized every song when I was like 6. The musical is supposedly just as good, and I can reassure you the music is great.

6. The Book Of Mormon

Oh my god. I had no idea that a musical could be so. Damn. Funny. But shït man, the Book Of Mormon had me at tears. Never seen it - My parents would kill me if they knew I'd heard it - but I've memorized three songs already. It's really offensive in so many ways, yes, but I, I can't. Words can't express how funny I found this, which probably makes me a bad person but honestly I'm going to hell anyways.
5. Dear Evan Hansen.

I've only *cough* illegallyseenhalfofactoneonthisonyoutube *cough* *cough* but it was positively amazing. I'll be honest, I was a little confused at times, but still, it was really good. But also, DAMN. THIS WAS THE MOST DEPRESSING THING LIKE, EVER. Les Mis fans'll love it! But yeah. You know that kid with the magic tricks? He stars on this. It's only been on Broadway for a year, too, so you could see it in person!

6. In The Heights

I LOVE HEIGHTS SO MUCH.
Ever since Hamilton came out this one has definitely been kind of.... hidden, but it's just so good. It's Spanish, so it was also educational? But yeah. I love the characters, it was really funny, and honestly, overall great. Some of my favorite songs of all time (96,000, Breathe, Champange, Blackout) are from this musical, and I still can't get over it, even after all this time (always.) It has happy songs, sad songs, funny songs, serious songs, romantic songs, drama-y songs, and everything in between. It is off Broadway, but there's always cast albums, bootlegs, and there has been talk of a movie!

7.  RENT

[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]

Rent revolutionized musicals. It was amazing. It was made in 1996, and spread important messages about LGBTQ+ rights, AIDS, and the dangers of drugs that were so, so important back then. It followed an amazing set of characters ranging from straight to bi to trans, and just average New York City life. Everyone in the story is well developed, and each song is so deep and meaningful and pulling. It's truly a gem, and I just love it so much. And also it has Angel. End of story. After 12 years, Rent took its final bow on Broadway in 2008. But, there is a movie, and the movie, my friends, is the greatest movie to ever be created. Watch it.  (That's a scene from the movie above)

8. Hamilton (You knew this was coming)

*squawks* I LOVE HAMILTON SO MUCH. It is an amazing way to teach history to a younger generation and the hip hop factor to it is pretty cool. The cast is of all different races and sexualities, which is amazing, considering this is a musical about our dead, white founding fathers. The music to this is ingenious (The Renyolds Pamphlet instrumental is just....) and the emotion it manages to convey is incredible. It has funny parts, but honestly this musical is so many things it's hard to believe. Everyone involved is super talented, and quite honestly I could write a book about each individual song in the musical and still not be able to convey how I feel about it. It's just..... ugh. I love it. This musical is on Broadway, though the entire original cast left. But tickets are insanely expensive at a price of around $750 each. But if you look long and hard you can find tons of bootlegs on YouTube!

And that's all! Again, these are all I've listened to, if you have any suggestions or your own opinions, comment!! And be sure to check out a few, and let me know which ones you looked at!

Peace ✌️
