I Don't Have Any Good Title Ideas So Happy Birthday Patrick (Peterick)
Pete was continuously calling everyone for confirmation. He'd been planning Patrick's birthday for weeks now and he wanted it to be perfect. He was waiting for his boyfriend to finish getting ready so they could go to dinner.
"Hey, Petey." Pete spun around around and saw the man in a plaid shirt, jeans and boots. He looked so adorable with his damp hair sticking out every where.
"You look amazing, Patty," Pete let out in a deep breath. "You ready to go?" Patrick nodded excitedly and followed Pete to the car.
"So where are we going?" Pete only smiled in response.
"You'll see." A fifteen minute drive later, they were parked outside a restaurant. Pete led the birthday boy inside. After giving his name to the hostess, they were led to a separate room.
When the door opened there were some people shouting 'happy birthday'. Patrick giggled at the lack of unison.
"Joe," Pete scowled. The curled haired man was standing on a chair with his back turned, using ducktape to tape up a happy birthday banner. When he noticed Pete and Patrick were there, he gave a sheepish smile.
"Oh hey guys. Happy birthday Patrick."
"Thanks, Joe," Patrick chuckled.
"What happened?" Pete pouted to Joe. "I told you we were coming."
"I know but the banner fell and then the cake was late so we weren't all paying attention. Sorry, man." Pete sighed.
"It's alright. We still have the rest of the night. Let's eat shall we," Pete addressed the guests. As they took their seats around the table, Pete noticed there were no more than ten people there. He leaned in toward Joe. "Where is everybody?"
"They had to cancel. Last minute emergencies." Pete sighed. He looked over at Patrick who was talking about some dish with Ryan.
They soon got all their orders in and Pete was relieved when the meals came out quickly. The food seemed alright apart from Patrick's getting sent back for having the wrong fish.
There was a light chatter among the little amount of guests. Pete occasionally looked at Patrick to make sure was enjoying himself. Even with the continuous mishaps, he still wanted make the boy's birthday perfect.
When they finished their food, Pete was excited to get to the cake. He made sure to have a nicely decorated chocolate cake made at Patrick's favorite bakery. He held Patrick's hand, glad to see him still smiling.
Brendon had gone over to the table to get the cake. Pete's heart sunk when the boy tripped and hit the leg of the cheap table. The presents on the table slide off to the ground. A small shattered sound came from one of the box.
Brendon was able to move quick enough to grab the cake before he had time to slip off the table too. He gave Pete an guilty smile. Pete was gonna blow up before he heard Patrick laughing beside him.
"At least the cake's still okay." Brendon started singing happy birthday as everyone else joined. They watched Brendon carry the cake over to where Patrick sat. He moved slowly and cautiously.
Unluckily, Brendon was a big enough klutz to trip over a dust bunny. His foot caught the floor, sending him stumbling forward. He managed to catch himself on a chair, resulting in him letting go of the cake.
There were small gasps coming from the few people as they watched the cake smash into Pete's side. The man shut his eyes and took a deep breath.
"All I wanted as for Patrick to have a great birthday. That's all I asked. We couldn't give him that one simple thing," Pete growled as he looked around at the worried looking faces.
"I just wanted a nice evening with Patrick's friends, food, some presents, and a cake I had to drive all the way across town for and convince an aging baker to make for me."
"Petey, it's okay," Patick spoke gently beside him. Pete turned to him
"No, Patrick. I wanted tonight to be perfect for you. It's your birthday and you deserved for it to be perfect. It's been nothing but awful. You didn't even get your cake."
Patrick brought his finger up dipping it in the remnants of the cake on Pete's shirt. He smiled as he licked the chocolate off his finger.
"It's already perfect," he smiled after a moment.
"Not it's not."
"It is because you're here and our friends are here."
"But the presents and your cake." Patrick chuckled and shook his head.
"I don't care about that." He brought his hand to up Pete's face. "I only care that you're here to celebrate with me."
"Really?" Pete's eyes were curiously wide. Patrick leaned in, stopped just over Pete's lips.
"Really really." They connected in a slow kiss before pulling away.
"Happy birthday, baby."
"Best birthday party ever." The couple looked up at Joe who smiled awkwardly. It didn't meet Pete's standards but he guessed it was enough for Patrick, so that's all that mattered.
