A volcano cannot be contained under a lid, but in Hastinapur the partition of Kingdom was used as a lid to contain a volcano on the verge of eruption.

The decision of division was not for avoiding minor squabbles between Pandavas and Kauravas, but for avoiding the increasing enemity between them and that might lead to a war.

Shakuni with great care made a plan, and convinced Dhritrashtra to give Khandavprasth, a hilly terrain on the west of Yamuna river, to Pandavas.

The petty yet clever game being played was that the Pandavas be given half the Kingdom, so that Dhritrashtra couldn't be called unjust. But in reality, what the Pandavas were being given was next to nothing.

Yet Yudhishthir, perhaps in hopes of peace, agreed to this losing proposal. But Bheem, Arjun, Nakul and Sehdev didn't like that they were given a land where Nagas and demons lived.

"The sweet words of Tatshree are a horrific mirage, Jyesht. But I am not suprised that he usurp half the Kingdom if not full for Duryodhan." Bheem said.

"Bheem, don't talk about your elders like that." Kunti said.

"But the elder should be big hearted too. Couldn't we have gotten a fertile land near Ganga valley ?" Nakul said.

"Nakul, you must accept the decision of your Jyesht." Kunti said.

"Mata there is no question of rejecting Jyesht's decision. But it is also true that speaking freely keeps the family together. Nakul say whatever you want to say." Arjun said.

"All I wanted to say is that Hastinapur is rightfully ours. Jyesht is the Yuvraj. But yet it is us who are being compelled to leave. Even then we are the ones getting a land where it is impossible for anyone to survive." Nakul said.

"Sons, your Kakashree Vidur must have proposed this decision for your benefit only. Why don't you understand ?" Kunti asked.

"Kakashree Vidur definitely wishes our well-being. But I Mata I refuse to believe that he also agrees to us being given Khandavprasth and Duryodhan getting Hastinapur. We accept the proposal of partition but why should we leave ? Can't Duryodhan being younger leave for Khandavprasth ? Why is it that everytime only we leave the Kingdom that is rightfully ours ? I don't understand this." Sehdev said.

His questions were right, but neither Kunti nor Yudhishthir had the answers or they had but didn't deem it proper to say out loud.

"Why are you Trigun sisters and Hidimba being so quiet ? Are you all too not happy with my decision ?" Yudhishthir asked.

"I am not upset with your decision Arya. A king's first duty is to ensure peace among people but if stay at Hastinapur, there will be no peace or good fortune here in this Kingdom." Satyamurti said with a smile.

"Yes Jyesht, we agree to it. Arya and Devaro, don't think that we are getting a barren Khandavprasth, we are getting our Karm-bhoomi." Rajeshwari said.

"If we all co-operate then we can even turn that hilly, thorny and barren Khandavprasth into heaven, so that even Lord Indra would want to come and live in our Kingdom." Hidimba said.

"Indeed. A man's destiny is in his hands, meaning it is shaped by his own deeds. We Vrishnis had also left Mathura and established our Karm-bhoomi Dwarika, not because we were afraid of Jarasandh, Bhrata Krishna and Dau Balram had defeated him 17 times, we left because we wanted peace and not further bloodshed. Sometimes, separation is a way to save relations." Tamasvini said.
